Personally I think the food was too expensive for the taste. Most of the dishes were too salty, & I already normally eat salty food. The staffs were really nice but they were more focus on tables that have more people, we waited almost 20-30 minutes to get the check at the end of the night.
Between emails, text messages, phone calls, they reached out easily over 5 times to make sure we will arrive for dinner despite we already said we would. I personally found this not too professional.
Overall it was a different dining experience but I don't think it was worth it, & probably won't recommend it.
Oof. I really try to not write bad reviews but at this price point I think it's necessary. I eat a fair amount of fine dining but not all the time, just enough to be treating myself, & know good from not good. This was so bad that i needed to walk out early because i couldn't eat the food..
I left about 3 courses in , snacks & then two real courses i left at the latter one didn't finish either of them. Once I was served a chewy seafood skewer I was very concerned because how are you going charge what you're charging & serve me that. Definitely some of the worst preparation of seafood probably ever & I'm talking about at any price point. No flavours to note or remember.
Then I was served the most atrocious noodle dish or squid dish I forget at this point but after you have to mix it. which is what your instructed to do, it literally looked like throw up, I gave it a try because why not & it just didn't even taste good, i remember it tasting kind of bad actually.
I was in shock I didn't know what to do I've never had the situation before so I offered to pay for my meal & then leave so i could go satisfy my hunger.
The staff is really nice as any fine dining restaurant is supposed to be.
I urge the chef to consider these elements & how they even happen to appear on dishes serve to people. I am not a picky eater by any means I eat everything I live for food I love food. This being served at what is supposed to be one of the highest levels of gastronomy is concerning.
spacious & comfortable dining area, nice service, delicious dishes with nice presentations, a wonderful dining experience.
Possibly the finest dining experience of my life up to this point. The care & attention to detail every step of the way was absolutely unparalleled. Aside from the food being borderline perfect (I will dream of the arctic char in buttermilk sauce for the rest of my days, & I've never liked a piece of lobster so much), the chefs explained every dish in exacting detail, while also being cool as hell the whole time. They gave us personalized recommendations for other places to visit during our stay in Montreal (bangers, all), & were just so personable & kind. I asked for them to keep onions to a minimum, as I have an intolerance; not only did they flawlessly adapt their dishes, they made a point to come explain to me personally how those changes would affect the dish. I felt like I was being fed by extraordinarily talented friends. I will make a point to return anytime I have the opportunity.
We spent a total of four hours at the restaurant, & I have to praise the space-it's incredibly comfortable & spacious, with cozy chairs. The overall atmosphere was warm & inviting! The staff were both enthusiastic & gentle, always smiling, which made it feel like they genuinely enjoyed their work. The whole evening was relaxing & pleasant, making it a perfect place for dining & conversation.
Food & Wine:
When I first saw the menu, I was excited-everything I love was there! From shellfish, lobster, & scallops to beef, fish, & duck-I was really looking forward to it. However, in terms of pairing, the wine selection & sequence were even better than the dishes themselves! The portions weren't overwhelming, just the right amount, & you could really feel the chef's dedication & passion in every dish. Each course seemed carefully crafted to be delicious.
The Downside:
Since every dish was a highlight, none of them truly stood out. There wasn't much connection between the courses, which made the overall three-hour experience feel somewhat lacking in cohesion. The seafood proportion was quite high, leading to some clashes in flavors. A few dishes had a slight fishy taste, & overall, I found the seasoning a bit on the salty side.
Five stars across the board! This restaurant experience allowed me to reconnect with food, pleasure & discovery in a way I never thought possible. The thought, creativity & technique that went into every service is world class!
Mr. Mousso does an excellent job of presenting his high-end dishes in a down to earth & warm environment
Good job to the whole crew, this needs to be on your bucket list ❤?
Came here on a Saturday night & glad I booked a month in advance because it was fully booked! as I walked in I was greeted with the staff's big smile & the dimmed slights made everything so moody & perfect. We sat near at the bar with a good view of the kitchen so our experience was much better as I got to see how the chefs collaborated while I indulged in all the dishes. Owner & chef Antonin Mousso was super friendly & very passionate about bringing the produces from Montreal some creativity & uniqueness, I was awed by all his dishes packed with umami & so much flavor. we enjoyed half wine pairing & the sommelier was super knowledgeable & friendly. I loved my experience here every single customer seemed to be having such a wonderful time!
I can't give anything less than 5 stars for food & service. The foie gras amuse bouche was the best thing I tasted all year... until the morel course which was just wow. The chef explained to my Celiac partner the modifications made before each dish & we hugely appreciated that attention to detail. The price point is high but you see exactly how it translates to the ingrediants selected. I'd prefer slightly higher salinity but it makes sense to keep it muted with these dishes. The only way to make the experience perfect would be to speed up service. We arrived at 6 for a 615 reservation &, had we stayed till the natural end of service, would have been sitting on bar stools for 4 hours. A long service is normal for tasting menus but 4 hours is really pushing most folks' endurance. If they could pull it into 3 hours, it would be perfect. Wine pairings were AMAZING & actually very well priced. More (white) wines from Quebec would be interesting. The non alcoholic juice pairing was less successful. Some of them simulated strongly flavored alcohol containing cocktails & wine. My partner ordered the juices because she doesn't like those flavors. Overall, best meal of the year so far & this Montreal trip has already been full of bangers. I've read a lot of the other reviews & they seem to be really taking into account the odd time when it's not just 5 stars omg! That kind of responsiveness should be praised. We'll be back!!!
