This was a real disappointment. We were part of a group of 20, two tables of ten. The menu was pre-arranged by the host, & the price was pre-set at $100 p.p. + tax & service, plus drinks. Of course the service was 18%, which was fine. & when we got there we were told we could each pay our own way.
The biggest disappointment was the small portions of food for the price. It's meant to be a sharing menu concept. But the portions just didn't satisfy. For instance, for the main course, we were given one small plate of carrots & one small plate of frites for 4 people. I regret not taking photos because the portions were laughable. Only when I questioned did they bring out more! This was consistent for all 4 courses. It was as is the kitchen had miscalculated how many dishes to send out.
The service started out well, attentive. But as soon as the first course came out, we felt rushed. One server who was bringing out the food was calling out the names of the dishes so quickly that we couldn't understand them. We felt rushed to finish our dishes, as they were clearing even before some were empty! Once, out of principle, I told the waiter to leave the dish with the two asparagus pieces.
But when dessert should have been served, we waited 40 minutes!
The food was good, & nicely presented, though the beef dish had more fat & grizzle than it should have for this type of establishment.
All in all, a very big & expensive disappointment.View more
Appetizer: tuna, scallop, black cod, & avocado were excellent, crafty presentation tasted really good. The scallop was fine, the concept is better than the actual taste but still satisfactory Main course: steak & halibut was amazing, generous cut, flavourful & pretty presentation. Lamb was ok, but I wouldn't recommend Dessert: panna cota with bourbon sauce & orange was excellent, well balanced sweet, cream, & freshness, also very pretty. Chocolate & caramel tarte was ok, a bit too heavy Overall atmosphere was very pretty & spacious, great for dates with friend & family Service was excellent, fast & responsive, the addition of coat check was also adding the experience so much betteView more
Beautiful & stylish restaurant, a great spot for a date night or time with friends & family. The service was friendly & attentive & the food was phenomenal. Our starters, the oysters & tuna crudo were delicious & fresh. For our mains, the veal short ribs were tender & juicy, the Asian inspired sauce was also very good. & the Milanese-style bone-in veal chop was crispy & a large portion. The s'more for dessert was also excellent (not your typical s'more). Overall, we very much enjoyed our meal at Jellyfish during our visit to Montreal.View more
Amazing dinner experience. Great food, drinks & wine selection. Make sure to leave room for dessert.View more
4.5/5.0 Oysters, short ribs & steak were good, portions were decent for most orders except the fish. The chicken & the bread were underwhelming. The desserts were great! Roughly 80$ per person before drinks, taxes & tips.View more
Food is amazing! The service is good. Nice restaurant with a terasse. Love the deco. Perfect for a night out with friends & dates. Their desserts are really good. Street parking - limited. Considered a fancy restaurant.View more
I had a wonderful time at jellyfish restaurant. The restaurant has a very unique design, with colorful lights & decorations that create a cozy & romantic atmosphere. It's a perfect place for a special occasion. I tried the New York cut steak, & it was cooked to perfection. The meat was tender & juicy, & the sauce was rich & flavorful. The service was on point, & the staff was attentive & courteous. They made sure we had everything we needed, & they even brought us a complimentary dessert. The price was reasonable for the quality & quantity of food. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a special night out. Jellyfish restaurant is one of the best restaurants in Montreal.View more
We have visited Jellyfish + Crudo a number of times over the years, & it has become one of our go to's when looking for a nice dinner with quality meals in a classy ambiance. The views of the square are charming & offer a beautiful glimpse of Montreal, especially in winter time (see photos for reference). The restaurant offers a mix of seafood & meats...but, as the name reveals, there is a greater emphasis on the seafoods such as Oyster Nachos or Octupus Tempura. For our meal, we started with the Crispy Brussel Sprouts (good but maybe a bit over done), then Hanger Steak (very good with tasty chimichuri sauce), the Filet Mignon (excellent...meat was perfectly done & the mashed potatoes were super creamy & a great compliment to the meat), & the Rotelle (also excellent...the oxtail ragu was super-tasty...but the pasta was a bit too al dente...make sure to request it over-done if you order it...it's also a huge portion so expect to take some home). Dessert was their long standing S'mores (its very good...but VERY sweet). Also, based on previous visits I recommend the Avocado Carpaccio as an excellent starter (especially if you like truffle). Service was excellent with a call-out to Catherine who always seemed available or just checking up on us even though the restaurant was quite full. Strong recommendation...especially as a date night or for a special family celebration. Enjoy!View more
My husband & I had a fantastic dinner there! Although the seasoning on our dishes was really ginger-heavy, our waitress & the in-house sommelier were really kind to us & offered a shot & dessert on the house. Can't wait to come back!View more
Very pleased with our visit to Jellyfish, the staff was exceptional & accommodating of our large business party with additional attendees & my specific dietary needs. All of the food was fresh, visually pleasing & delicious. Our waitress was outstanding with service & recommendations. The wine was delicious & the cocktails as well. Absolutely have to get the s'mores dessert - we were so full we split one & the ice cream sandwich so everyone didn't have to miss out.View more
I went to this restaurant for my birthday with a few friends. Where do I even begin?! The whole night was a disaster! We ordered & 45 minutes later, still no food. We tell our waitress & instead of apologizing, she bluntly said "Let me check what time I punched in the orders," as if we were lying. She comes back & tells us that we ordered 40 minutes ago. By then, we were ready to leave! The front manager comes & tells us the chicken takes 25 minutes to cook. How do you explain the extra 20 minutes that we've been waiting?! She then tells us we'll each get a free dessert as a compensation. It's not that we couldn't afford to pay, but I would expect more professionalism from this type of restaurant. She then offers 25% off each person's bill. I was so hungry & didn't want to go through all the trouble of looking for another restaurant, so I accepted the offer. The bread & butter were cold; it felt like eating cardboard. Everyone's plate was bland. At that point, I just ate out of hunger. When it was time for the bill, the manager says only the birthday girl gets a free dessert. We agreed on everyone getting a free dessert plus 25% off on the bill. Each time we asked to speak to the manager, she would walk around avoiding our table or tell the waitress to come ask us how we are doing. During the whole night, we basically ate for 10 minutes because we were really hungry, & spent a total of 3 hours waiting for the manager & waitress to serve us. Manager is a liar & unprofessional. The waitress also lacks professionalism when speaking to customers; she was giving us attitude. Never once did the manager nor the waitress apologize. Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT go to this restaurant! Worst dining experience I've ever had!
