I've tasted some delicious stuff in my life & I have to say, this was among some of the best bites I've ever had. However, they were definitely bites, very small. But each dish flowed phenomenally into the next, & each definitely left you wanting more, some even making me want to lick the dish clean. Absolutely delicious food, however I did leave hungry. Service was phenomenal. Good drinks & wine, even the dessert was delicious & light. I found the price of the tasting menu reasonable for the quality of food, even if I left hungry which I why I rate this place a 5 star. I'll be back for everything I had tonight, but especially for the scallops, the quail, the shrimp & the steak. Wow. The best steak I've ever had & that's saying a lot. Sometimes people say'it melts in your mouth' but this steak literally did. Cut like butter. Thank you Karen for the recommendation & thank you guys for a great meal & service. We will be back ! If all I have to say if I wish I had more, I am leaving happy regardless.View more
View more
UPDATE: The owner reached out to us to better understand the situation & to ensure it doesn't happen again. We decided to give it another chance & it was an amazing experience this time. We tried their new tasting menu & it was delicious with very good portions, & the sauces, as usual, were incredible. The chef is honestly a magician when it comes to sauces. I am generally not a big fan of meat, but the two meat dishes were cooked to perfection & I actually really enjoyed them! Everyone left feeling happy & full. The owner was the waiter during the whole evening & service was impeccable. He cares so much & it was a real pleasure to watch him take care of all the guests in the restaurant & to find out more about the story behind this place. He was also checking with all the guests who were having the tasting menu on what they think about the new menu to take notes, which we thought was very thoughtful. They also put a big emphasis on staying local for food, but even the art on the walls is from a local artist. & the atmosphere, especially in the evening, is simply perfect & intimate. I can definitely see that my first experience is not a norm here, thank you Harold for showing it to us. This place is actually a little gem & we will certainly come back again!
ORIGINAL shortened review:
I would like to start my review by saying that I've been looking forward to going to this restaurant for months. I hyped it up so much to my friends & family & everyone was so excited too to go on my birthday. So initially I was going to leave a great review until it was time to pay & our waitress Camille I believe & her colleague which I don't know the name changed my decision. She ruined my birthday night & I truly wish I would've picked a different restaurant. I really really hope that this is not a norm here because that would just be sad. We were a group of 6 with 5 having a tasting menu & one person having another dish due to inability to eat everything on the tasting menu. Every tasting menu was 80$ & we also had 2 bottles 50$+90$ of wine which were perfect for 2 glasses for each person. Please see my review below for the food experience itself. After dinner it was time to pay, & we received our bills. The dinner was expensive which was expected, with some goods & some bads but overall a very positive experience. So everyone tipped but apparently not enough according to our waitress & her friend behind our table. The face she made when she was getting the tips was crazy! Her voice changed & her fake smile turned into a face of total disgust, & as soon as she finished rolling her eyes at our table she ran to the back & was talking to her colleague about us, showing her our receipts & clearly complaining about the tips. Her colleague than proceeded to looking at us, then turning to her with her mouth open. & all this right in front of our table. Every single person at the table witnessed this & was absolutely shocked. We left with such a bitter aftertaste from the experience that I genuinely wanted to break down. This behavior is seriously unacceptable. The tip is absolutely not mandatory yet everyone did tip. But I swear I wish I could tip this girl a big fat 0 & take every cent back had I known what was coming. This is disgusting & unacceptable, I just don't have other words.
As for the food experience review:
- All the food was delicious but the dessert which was very sweet.
- All the sauces were super tasty.
- The presentation of all food was spectacular. Everything was very tastefully decorated.
- The interior is super cozy & perfect for an intimate dinner.
- The portions are very small. It is definitely not enough food if you are going in hungry.
- We asked for extra bread, we were brought burnt slices of bread.
- There are two bathrooms & one of them did not have soap so you had to wait for the other one to free up to wash your hands.View more
I don't usually review but this restaurant really deserves one. My wife & I chose this for our anniversary dinner here. To say it did not disappoint is an understatement. I had the tasting menu & it was incredible! The blend of flavours is amazing! My wife had the filet mignon & it was succulent. The best part was the mashed potatoes, which were like velvet. Words don't do them justice. My tasting extravaganza ended with a pear crumble dessert that was just pear-fect! Can't wait to come back!View more
View more
View more
Excellent! View more
Our party of three enjoyed our entire experience at Le Godot. It was a Sunday evening & very quiet. Nice ambiance in furnishings, music. We shared six plates ranging from poutine, oysters, dumplings, 2 beef dishes, & a broccoli ceaser. ALL were delicious. The staff accommodated a couple of dietary restrictions with no problem. Good wine list. Dessert was good. Amiable server. A little out of central Montreal; nice to be in the Verdun neighborhood. We would definitely come again.View more
View more
Nice restaurant, classy & simple. Food is tasty, innovative & super nicely presented. The presentation & preparation of the poutine is super interesting: sort of a mille feuille of potatoes & halumi cheese. The rest of the main dishes were ok & easy to share. The jewel: the dessert. A pear inside of mille feuille that tastes amazingly good & it's just perfect. The service is more than good. Our waiter come at perfect times & provided all the help we asked for.View more
View more
