Le Dépanneur Café feels like a charming bohemian hideaway where the coffee is a highlight with superb cappuccino, a well balanced espresso and a properly blended cortado served in a glass, and the menu offers simple, tasty options like sandwiches and carrot cake at friendly prices. The space is small and cozy with warm wood touches and a relaxed vibe, and live music fills the room throughout the day, creating a lively soundtrack that many reviewers love even when it can be a bit loud for conversations. The staff are described as friendly and accommodating, with quick cordial service, and the atmosphere invites lingering, working, or catching up with friends. The terrace in summer is praised as a lovely extension, though some comments note occasional cleanliness issues and that the sound levels can wake neighbors or challenge morning chat. Overall Le Dépanneur Café is seen as a must visit, a unique concept that keeps regulars coming back for the music, the mood, and the good coffee.
The negative vibes from the female staff is really something else. They act so cold & stuck up. They have no people skills in terms of kindess or carrying conversations. Having warm & kind people skills is what helps create an inviting atmosphere for any business Just cold & not warm & inviting. Think the owner needs to reconsider his staff choice. The males are always nice & kind though. The live music, coffee & food is incredible & the saving grace here.
Genuinely the worst cup of coffee I've had in the Mile End&Plateau. Completely burnt the coffee somehow?? Super acrid&unpleasant taste. Actually I don't even know how you make coffee taste that bad. Immaculate vibes in there until I tasted the coffee.

The live music was appreciated even though it was a bit too loud for my liking (I struggled to hear my friend during our conversation at times), but the coffee was delicious & the workers here are lovely! Service was quick & cordial
Now this is a quintessential cafe in my book. I want to say it's the best I've ever been in (of many hundreds) but that might just be enthusiasm of several good visits talking. Firstly, it's both spacious & cozy, red brick walls mixed with couches, tables, stand up bar as well as a back room that feels more private but is more for noisier chatting. In the main room is, quite unbelievably, is live music every single day between 10-5pm which sends this cafe into another category of shared social spaces entirely. It is successful as a space to sit & read quietly, chat with a friend or listen to rather chill live music. The menu is small but good & coffee is great & always improving. Can't give it a better review. &! Many of the patrons actually have books with them which is heart warming to see.
Rather a hipster ambiance than a cozy coffee shop, the service is very good. Their carrot cake is amazing. Live music from 10 to 5 every day, quite nice.

Any visit to Montreal must include a trip to Le Dépanneur Café. Best café to visit friends, cozy up with a book or catch some live music. This place is an absolute staple of the Mile End (plus the coffee & baked goods are delicious!)
Recommended. The "hippie" decor is nice. Their sandwich, carrot cake, & coffee are good, & their prices are affordable. The staff is friendly & the service is excellent. The live music they play through out the day is very nice.
