My favourite Indian food in the city! It's a full-on sit-down restaurant, which is reflected in the prices, but very reasonable given the great ambiance & amazing quality & taste of the food & drinks.
Service is friendly & quick, food is presented beautifully & it's in a very pleasant accessible location by the old city.
Also the butter chicken poutine is INCREDIBLE (& the lamb korma is a personal fav)
Have gone back many times, & will be back for many more!View more
WOW, such good & tasty Indian cuisine. It's a little on the more expensive side but that goes with the area as well, near the old port.
The place is neat, clean & big enough to host big groups. They also had some nice wine & drink selection.
The service was also great for a full packed place, waiter was attentive & checking to make sure we had everything.
Food didn't take too long to arrive either & they give you a tasty little appetizer before your meal.
It is definitely worth a visit, you can go out of your way & try this place if you have the budget. It's worth a taste & visit.
I will go again & taste different options from the menu 🤤😋😋View more
Le 409 is a standout Indian restaurant nestled in the heart of Old Montreal. From the moment you step in, the ambiance captivates with its chic décor blending Indian & Havana influences. The lighting & overall vibe create a warm & inviting atmosphere, perfect for any occasion, be it a business dinner, a romantic evening, or a casual meal with friends.
The food is consistently impressive. Each dish bursts with authentic flavors, yet leaves you feeling light & satisfied. A personal favorite is the coriander lemonade, a refreshing drink not listed on the menu, but the staff graciously prepares it upon request. This level of personalized service speaks volumes about their commitment to customer satisfaction.
It's unfortunate that they no longer offer lunch service, as it was a popular spot for my colleagues & I during workdays. However, I understand that operational decisions are influenced by various factors.
In terms of pricing, Le 409 offers excellent value. A typical meal, including a main course with rice, a popadum, & a drink, averages around $45 to $50. Considering the quality of the food, the ambiance, & the impeccable service, it's a reasonable price point.
Overall, Le 409 delivers a delightful dining experience that combines flavorful cuisine with a sophisticated yet comfortable setting. It's a place I wholeheartedly recommend & look forward to visiting again.View more
Very friendly waitress! Food was absolutely delicious, with the exception of the Korma (which we switched out for a chana masala which was delicieux) it was very sickly sweet - poulet 65, onion bhaji & the lamb tandoori were a hit. Plus we asked the bartender for a couple surprise us drinks & they perfect!
Would live in the kitchen if I could 😄View more
The food is so delicious & the drinks are impeccable. I always recommend this to friends when they ask where to find delicious vegetarian friendly food in Montreal.View more
My wife & I recently enjoyed an incredible dinner at Le 409, an elegant Indian restaurant in Montreal. We had a dinner reservation & were excited to explore their menu, which did not disappoint. The ambiance at Le 409 is sophisticated yet warm, blending modern décor with traditional Indian accents. The dim lighting & vibrant colors created a cozy atmosphere, perfect for an intimate dinner. The service was equally impressive, with our server Benjamin providing excellent recommendations & ensuring our dining experience was seamless. For starters to share, we ordered the CHANA SAMOSA-a pastry stuffed with potatoes & spices, topped with chickpea masala. It was so delicious that we immediately ordered another round! The flavors were bold & perfectly balanced, a fantastic way to begin our meal. For our entrée, we opted for family-style sharing & indulged in several flavorful dishes: - BUTTER CHICKEN: Tender marinated chicken cubes in a creamy tomato sauce infused with aromatic spices. - LAMB KORMA: Lamb cubes in a creamy almond & raisin sauce, rich & mildly sweet. - LAMB ROGANJOSH: Lamb cubes cooked in a flavorful curry sauce with yogurt, mint, & spices. - CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA: Chicken cubes in a creamy sauce with onions, tomatoes, & peppers. To complement these dishes, we ordered two servings each of GARLIC NAAN & PILAU RICE, which were the perfect accompaniments to soak up the rich sauces. For drinks, we all had Mango Lassi. It was phenomenal - unlike the overly sweet versions we've had in the U.S., this one was perfectly balanced, allowing the natural flavors of mango & yogurt to shine through. Le 409 exceeded our expectations with its exceptional food, inviting ambiance, & top-notch service. This dinner was a true culinary journey, & we can't wait to return!View more

Great ambience. Waited awhile for our drinks. Traditional dishes that were too sweet. It was a bit odd to have sweet butter chicken. Naan & biryani were very good.View more

It is rare that a restaurant Wows me in Montreal. But le 409 did just that. Le 409 is a well-oiled operation (trained & educated staff, good ambience, the cooking skills were great, good drinks, good choices of wines -even the wines by the glass selection is really good, an overall good dining experience), a superb restaurant. As far as the food goes, the fundamentals of Indian cuisine are respected & applied (the menu is composed of traditional fares for the most part), but do not be surprised to see creations of their own as well (which is refreshing & appropriate in the context of an eclectic city like Montreal). Le 409 has the looks of a trendy gastropub , but they did not allow that to distract from what matters: they are cooking proper Indian food (which makes sense since the people at former classic Indian restaurant Atma are also behind Le 409). This is one of the better Indian restaurants in Montreal. & Chapeau to Hugo's superb service & leadership (to be great, a restaurant operation needs a leader like you. Obviously, that superb dinner testifies to that).View more
I just had drinks because I wasn't hungry. But they were good!View more
Our first night in Montreal & we found this incredible gastro bar serving my all time favorite combination of Indian food & cocktails. I'm not sure if the crafted cocktails were better or if the fantastic Indian food was the winner. My family had a fabulous dining experience with some of the friendliest service & most flavorful food & drinks we've had in a while. I would highly recommend Le 409 to anyone traveling to Montreal.View more
Wowza!! I had never heard of this place before & ended up here for a drink before a show in the old port, guys you don't even know how great this place is. Hands down one of the best martinis I've ever had but that's nothing compared to the food. We had a little snack with our drinks, the Chana somosa, so fresh & flavourful, so absolutely incredible. The place is beautiful with impeccable service, I can't recommend it enough! Definitely coming back for a meal & so looking forward to it!View more
I was gladly surprised by this place I had never heard about before. We went there for a quick snack & a drink before a show in Old Port but we are definitely coming back for dinner. Kudos to the bartender, he prepared the best dirty martini I ever tried!View more
I went here with a large group for a birthday & the restaurant accommodated us with no issues. We each had a couple of drinks & they were very good. My food was delicious I highly recommend the chana samosa. I will be back!View more
Went there on a weekday night. Wasn't too busy & could get a table without reservation. This is not your regular Indian restaurant. The taste is unlike other Indian restaurants you would go to in Montreal. We ordered veggie tandoor & chicken 65. We weren't a big fan of either. However, the drinks are a different story. Definitely a place to hang out with your friends for a couple of drinks & socialize. Maybe not so much for a dinner if you are looking for a typical Indian dinner outing.View more
Excellent, friendly service. Great food & drink recommendations given. Food was amazing...so flavourful.
Wonderful place to meet friends & linger over drinks, great food & good conversation. One of my favourites !
Belle ambiance, bonne bouffe & des bons drinks. Mon nouveau restaurant préféré pour des souper entres amis ou en couple.
The Old Port needed that one-of-a-kind restaurant! Going in there is like a free ticket to travel abroad! The food is savory, rich yet delicate. Prepare your palate for it, it can be spicy too!
As for drinks, you can't go wrong. Signature cocktails are very unique, plenty of classic ones too & a bar packed with draft beers! As for the wine list, private importation are at the core & the staff will guide you to match it with whatever you order.
Give it a try, for lunch, for a 5 à 7, an event or a date in the evening! You won't be disappointed.
Beautiful ambiance, delicious drinks, & great food. Would definitely visit again.
Tres bon drink & originale la nourriture est excellente nous étions un groupe de 15 & tous nous avons passé un bon moment merci pour l'excellent service😎👍
Very nice atmosphere, great drinks & great Indian food. However, a tad bit disappointed this time around. We were there for a colleague's birthday. When I mentioned it, she was offered a dessert, which she didn't actually choose. Since I picked up the
Staff is very attentive. Food is excellent. & they have a good selection of wines & original drinks.
Super drinks & bonne bouffe indienne dans une ambiance très le fun.
