Review Summary

Overall, L'Amour du Pain is described as a place with exceptional staff, welcoming service and a calm atmosphere that feels like a neighborhood gem. Many reviews praise the quality of breads, croissants, pastries and coffee, highlighting a broad variety and the pleasure of trying something new on each visit. However, some visits have fallen short with pastries that were not fresh or served cold, and at times the seating is limited and the area appears untidy. Several comments note that value for money varies and that price may not always match perceived quality. Despite mixed experiences, the bakery remains a popular destination for bread and treats, with strong admiration for the ongoing appeal and the ability to draw regulars back for a wide assortment of items.

I tried some of their products on a Christmas market as the pain au chocolat that was delicious!

On my last visit, the quality disappointed me: the bread was served cold & there was hardly any seating. The tables were dirty, littered with dishes & uncollected trash. We ordered hot chocolate, which was served cold & covered in large bubbles of unmelted chocolate powder.

I know they have potential, but my last visit didn't leave a good impression & I probably wouldn't go back.

My recent visit to this pastry shop left me quite underwhelmed. The employees were pleasant & the initial display of pastries was appealing, though they seemed a bit small for the price. I was willing to overlook the cost, hoping the artisan quality & taste would justify it.
Unfortunately, the two pastries I purchased were very disappointing. Both were noticeably dry, & the cream fillings tasted like the cheapest quality ingredients, leaving an unpleasant, greasy coating in my mouth. I also ordered a cortado, which was simply basic.
Ultimately, the quality of the pastries does not justify the prices charged. My overall experience was a 2-3/10.
My one suggestion to the shop would be this: never compromise on the key ingredients that form the foundation of your business. The current lack of quality in the foundational ingredients is the main issue.

On top of their high quality breads & sandwiches. They have a kind heart & don't hesitate to make donations to shelters!!

All stars for the bread loaves & sourdough (not judging pastries, they're ok but not superb). I still think this is the best option in the area for good bread. Is it cheap? No. But the price is fair & the quality for daily bread is very good. I wanted to say my experience going to this bakery was good, but... It's a complicated relationship. I read several complaints about the staff, & yep, sometimes they seem to be inattentive. Which I understand, many are young folks who are probably in college learning their ways through. But watch out for not paying extra for your items, they may get confused with the types of item you requested & their actual price (happened to me). However, I don't blame them for not being fast. They're learning. The bad side is that the place can get messy with long lines. The other problem with this bakery is that lately none seems to be checking the inventory & projecting sales. So sometimes you go there at 11am - 12pm & there are very few options of bread (they close at 6pm). So TL;DR some types of bread are very good & the place could benefit from more planning. 🍞🥖
