Really nice food & great selection of Italian wine, service is great !
It is a little noisy but part of the vibrant atmosphere
Top of my spotlist in Montreal I recommendView more
From the moment we walked in, we loved this place. The atmosphere feels very warm & welcoming.
We had the pleasure of being served by Luca, the manager of the restaurant. He is very knowledgeable about the various dishes they serve & he guided us on what to order based on our wine choice. The food was incredible, everything we ate was flavourful & well portioned. Highly recommend.View more
It was my friend's birthday so we decided to go full baller. I heard great things about this place & it didn't disappoint.
Cool family style Italian restaurant decor, but definitely with bougie accents. The crowd fit the decor perfectly.
The menu is classic Italian. We chose the focaccia, arancini - they change every week - & the burrata.
We skipped the pasta & went for a big ol' cowboy steak we split between us, with roasted potatoes & brocolini. Everything was fantastic, the bread had a salty crust which was delicious, the arancini perfect & the best steak I've had in quite a while. The sauce was unnecessary, but too good to not use.
Big kudos on the wine list too, lots of variety & natural options.
The only minor criticism was that when we were asked to vacate our table & finish our digestivo at the bar to let other patrons get seated, I would have expected a token gesture on their part - a shot or dessert to split. But I guess this is 2025 & the rules of dining out have changed.
Either way, we had a fabulous meal, the staff was nice, very professional.
Definitely not a cheap night out, but the quality & value were there, so I recommend this spot.View more
LOVED it! From the service to the vibe to the amazing food & wine, you can't go wrong at La Spada. Our waiter was amazing, & super helpful, as was the rest of the staff. The red wine from Montepulciano made me temporarily forget about the gloomy weather outside & everything from the appetizers (burrata on micro greens & eggplants as well as arancini stuffed with truffle rizzoto) to the dessert (Ferrero Rocher cake) was absolutely delicious.View more
I unfortunately had a terrible experience at this restaurant. Never have I been treated so disgracefully. They told us to leave after 1:45 minutes because they had mismanaged their reservations for the evening. It was ok, we just wanted to finish our glass of wine. The waiter agreed. But somehow the hostess felt the need to come to our table again, two minutes later, to tell us to leave immediately. It made us all terribly uncomfortable & ruined the entire evening. This is simply not a way to treat patrons who just spent nearly 500$ in your establishment.
We were supposed to go to another restaurant for our anniversary, but decided to pop in as this restaurant is closer to our place & the hostess was kind enough to accommodate our unexpected arrival. Right when you walk in, you notice the ambiance is spot on - never been to Rome specifically but everything felt right from decor to the menu. Mood was also amplified by the amazing Dean Martin classics they were playing.
Food was delicious, you can't come here expecting to be blown away with a culinary experience. Its a homey eatery that serves simple Roman classics, executed very well. The vitello saltimbocca was the highlight, reading some reviews saying its salty - not sure what they expected with a dish wrapped in prosciutto. The salt was nicely balanced with a squeeze of lemon & the buttery wine sauce they served it with, I cleaned the bone despite being full. Pasta was perfectly cooked & portions were generous. I thought the price of the pasta was high at first glance but the portion you get is certainly worth it.
We had the pleasure of being served by Liam who was attentive but for the most part let us enjoy our dinner (the way it should be). Someone, who I believe was the owner, came over to check in on us - its clear that these people care about their clients & the food they serve. I have very high standards overall, but with Montreal dining you get what you give, if you're an unreasonable & entitled person you will never truly enjoy a restaurant. The lower reviews I read seemed unjustified from my experience; disgruntled individuals who complain no matter what or come with lots of entitlement & very little understanding.
Thank you La Spada!View more
I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time &, last night, I finally got the opportunity. It did not disappoint. Everything was on point from our greeting by our hostess to dessert.
Our server was very attentive & made a good wine recommendation. The dishes were delicious, plentiful & arrived at our table quickly.
The decor was casual chic & classic Italian songs played in the background.View more
Overall nice ambiance & decor but the waiter was very pushy & we felt rushed. Rushed to order, rushed to eat, & rushed to pay & leave. Examples include coming to take the order within minutes of arrival & coming back quickly after we told him we hadn't looked at the menu. Another example is when he took unfinished appetizer plates while still eating. He then forgot to bring an appetizer which he later brought. After done eating mains he offered desserts & when we declined he said "well it's time for bills then". Minutes after ordering a 2nd bottle of wine, he explained we needed to leave within 30 minutes because they had another group coming. Food was decent. The green salad, suppli & calamari were great. The orecchiette alla stracciatella & the carbonara were cold. I know these plates aren't supposed be scorching because of the fresh cheese & egg yolks but it was too cold. The carbonara felt they added too much pasta water, thereby lacking creaminess & taste. Quality of the pasta was very good.View more
Great atmosphere, decent service, mediocre food. The appetizers where okay, the branzino was nice, the lamb was wonderful but the pasta was terrible. Out of 4 pasta dishes tried, 1 was okay. The tortellini was the worst. Tuna tartare was not good, the tagliatelle was really really not good, dry papery shredded pork. Oh & the desserts, you could of knocked out someone with the cheesecake it was so dense & hard, & a grainy tiramisu followed…. Maybe they should outsource their desserts if no one knows how to make them in the kitchen…. Service was okay, but we had to serve ourselves wine a few times, asked for water a few times, at some point they were bringing food but half the table had no plates & no one had utensils….at the end of the night the waiter pushed back on us buying another bottle of wine because he said there was only a half hour left before closure, I've never ever known of a restaurant not wanting to make a wine sale (to be noted it was a sat night, the resto was still half full, & we were 8ppl so that's a glass each)! Overall it was okay but I won't be going back.View more
Had a really bad experience - very uncomfortable seat over the radiator & staff unable/reluctant to reseat us until way past the middle of the meal… food was sub-par at best & service elusive (to avoid my complaints, no doubt), although in fairness the wine was excellent & the sommelier much nicer. The owner made it clear we were not welcome back after I selected the no tip option (why have it if you don't mean it?), but it won't be difficult to oblige…
Everything was on point, the food was delicious & the place was really nicely decorated. The playlist was also really well organized & fitted so well with the atmosphere. The sad point is we only had a 2 hour period for our reservation, but that's a normal thing in such restaurants. We would have stayed & drank a little longer to fully enjoy the delicious cocktails, wines & what about the coffee ! (Marzocco spotted!) I'll hit that spot again for sure. 10/10View more
La Spada is an absolute gem in Montreal! From the moment I walked in, the warm & inviting ambiance set the tone for a fantastic dining experience. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, & genuinely passionate about the menu, offering great recommendations tailored to my preferences. The food? Simply outstanding. Every dish was a perfect balance of flavor, presentation, & authenticity. The fresh, house-made pasta was the highlight-cooked to perfection with rich, flavorful sauces that transported me straight to Italy. Their wine selection was equally impressive, with options that paired beautifully with every course. What truly sets La Spada apart is the attention to detail. From the quality of the ingredients to the beautifully plated desserts, everything exudes care & excellence. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply indulging in a great meal, La Spada is the place to go. I can't wait to return & explore more of their menu. Highly recommend!View more
This place was popping on a Tuesday! Food & service were impeccable. I literally had a tear eating the lamb chops. Great selection of wines for all budgets. Lio the sommelier helped us choose the perfect bottle to go with our meal. The best spot to eat is at the bar with Liam. Will definitely be coming back.View more

This place just made my week. The level of attention to detail from the exceptional service to the fall down amazing food. Waiter selected a wine for us that we loved just off a few keywords. Huge portions of fresh authentic italien dishes. Went with a group & we didn't want to leave. Decor & vibe are on point. I hope to be back frequently ! Book now & wait a bit cause they're busy & rightly so.View more
Just opened about 1-month ago but this place already feels like it's been here for years. The staff were super friendly, attentive, & well versed with the menu & wine selections. Our waitress was Absolutely fantastic. Her food recommendations were perfect & the wine pairing was spot on with our preferences. We will definitely be back. My only comment was that the music was a little too loud. One notch lower would have been perfect cause you want a good vibe musically but you don't want to shout all night across your table.View more
As if Bistro Amerigo were not amazing enough, they hit an absolute home run with La Spada, this newly-opened Roman paradise in St. Henri. I felt like I had been both transported to Rome & that I was right at home from the second I walked in until the second I left. The personnel were welcoming, knowledgeable, & experts at their craft, & in engaging with the clientele, from the hosts to the servers to the kitchen staff to the management. The atmosphere is comfortable & elegant at the same time, without an ounce of pretense. The wine list includes glasses & bottles, the cocktails are classic yet creative, & the food is on a positively superior level. Not many restaurants can pull off cacio e pepe (see photos) as it must be prepared & served completely fresh; La Spada does it flawlessly. The panna cotta is light & indulgent at the same time, & the focaccia is crisp outside (the flaky salt puts it over the top) & pillowy & almost creamy inside. I am looking forward to going back (many, many times).View more
