La Scacciata attracts broad praise for authentic Sicilian sandwiches built on house made focaccia that’s crispy on the outside and soft inside, with crowd favorites like Milanese, porchetta, Parma and Agrigento and ingredients shipped from Italy that elevate the fillings; the bread and arancini are often highlighted as standout, and real gelato imported from Italy is noted by some as a nice bonus. The atmosphere is described as warm, cozy, and welcoming, with friendly staff and a family vibe, plus an outdoor terrace that’s great in summer. Service can be slow or uneven at times according to a few reviews, but many describe attentive and caring service that makes guests feel at home. Coffee and drinks are generally good, though one comment mentions espresso being a touch acidic, while pizza is seen as solid but not always exceptional and sometimes pricey for the portion. Overall, La Scacciata is viewed as a must try for those seeking fresh, flavorful Italian sandwiches and homemade bread, a neighborhood favorite for casual lunches or meals with friends, with many returning for the variety of sandwiches, arancini, pasta and desserts.
A lovely addition to Notre-Dame street. The food was delicious & they had an extensive + authentic Italian menu. I had tried their'La Parma' sandwich as well as their arancini. The tomato sauce that went with the arancini was awesome. The flatbread they used for the sandwich was great & authentic. The fig jam with the prosciutto is such a supreme combination! The only point of improvement for me would be to pack the sandwich a little more. It needed some more substance. But otherwise, service was great, the decor was cute, & it was nice vibes all around. I'll definitely be going back!

During our first visit to La Scacciata, my girlfriend & I were immediately charmed by the neighborhood. The area has a great atmosphere, & we had no trouble finding parking, which is always a plus in Montreal. The restaurant itself is cute & cozy, not too big but with enough seating to enjoy a relaxed meal. The space is well laid out, making it feel welcoming without being cramped.
As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the friendly & attentive staff, which set a great tone for our meal. One of the nice things about La Scacciata is that they have a display of pre-prepared food, making it easy to see what's available before ordering. Everything looked fresh & appetizing, but we came specifically for their signature dish: scacciata.
They offer two varieties of this traditional Sicilian stuffed focaccia:
• Taormina - Stuffed with sausage & rapini, this one had a rich, savory flavor with a bit of earthiness from the rapini. The sausage was well-seasoned & paired perfectly with the soft, slightly crisp crust.
• Agrigento - A more comforting option, filled with potatoes & onions. It was hearty & satisfying, with the potatoes adding a creamy texture & a slight sweetness from the onions.
Both were absolutely delicious, & the crust had just the right balance of crispness & chew. You can tell that the ingredients are high quality, & everything tasted fresh & homemade. The portion sizes were generous, making it a great value for the price.
Speaking of price, La Scacciata is very reasonably priced, especially considering the quality of the food. We left feeling full & satisfied without breaking the bank, which is always a win.
Overall, we had a fantastic first experience, & La Scacciata is definitely a place we'll be visiting again. Whether you're in the mood for a quick bite or a casual meal, this spot is worth checking out. We can't wait to come back & try more from their menu!
In a city that often surprises with its culinary undercurrents, La Scacciata is one of those rare finds. I swung by for the first time one evening with some friends & was immediately struck by the owner's genuine hospitality & a generosity that went beyond mere portions. Inviting me to leave the decision in his hands, he whipped up a meal that spoke volumes about his passion for quality & craft.
He prepared me the Tortelli pasta & paired it with a soon to be released carpaccio sandwich that was as artful as it was delicious. To wash it down, I tried the Negroni Sour. It was a cocktail that delivered a smooth, robust character without overwhelming an alcohol aftertaste, a true testament to careful mixology. I ended up lingering there until closing time, immersed in the experience of good food & even better company.
This isn't just another Italian restaurant; it's a spot where culinary integrity meets heartfelt hospitality. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Montreal, eager to see what surprises await on the menu.
Amazing lunch! Devoured in minutes & was the perfect amount. Felt amazing after eating & refreshed. Perfect flavor development & combos!(Looked so amazing we dove right in & forgot pictures!)
Cute new spot. We tried the sandwiches. The bread was very good but sandwich just didn't have enough substance. Very little cold cuts, very little sauce or condiments. For 40$ for two sandwiches, it was pretty underwhelming & not filling. In comparisons, at other spots in Montreal, one sandwich to share is more than enough for us.

I tried the bologna & parma sandwiches & they were an 11/10. The bread was extremely fresh, the cheese was delicious, & the creamy pistachio sauce was fantastic. It is definitely a must try restaurant.

La bouffe est simple, pâtes fraiches au menu. Très bon & le pric est honnête.
We had 3 different sandwiches, & all were delicious! Really fresh ingredients & the homemade focaccia bread was perfectly salty & crispy. The best sandwich was the bologna the combination of pistachio & ricotta was sooooo creamy & delicious. I can't wait to go back & try more!

Nice ambiance, fresh ingredients, good portions & friendly staff. Was a great first experience. The price was fair & comparable if not competitive with other sandwich shops. Sandwich & drink was 21$ all in. Great addition to the street & I'll definitely be back!
Sandwich très goûteux dans une ambiance chaleureuse (en plus des notes de musique d'Abba & de Queen). Le personnel a été très accueillant. Merci à Jonathan, belle découverte!
