La Scacciata attracts broad praise for authentic Sicilian sandwiches built on house made focaccia that’s crispy on the outside and soft inside, with crowd favorites like Milanese, porchetta, Parma and Agrigento and ingredients shipped from Italy that elevate the fillings; the bread and arancini are often highlighted as standout, and real gelato imported from Italy is noted by some as a nice bonus. The atmosphere is described as warm, cozy, and welcoming, with friendly staff and a family vibe, plus an outdoor terrace that’s great in summer. Service can be slow or uneven at times according to a few reviews, but many describe attentive and caring service that makes guests feel at home. Coffee and drinks are generally good, though one comment mentions espresso being a touch acidic, while pizza is seen as solid but not always exceptional and sometimes pricey for the portion. Overall, La Scacciata is viewed as a must try for those seeking fresh, flavorful Italian sandwiches and homemade bread, a neighborhood favorite for casual lunches or meals with friends, with many returning for the variety of sandwiches, arancini, pasta and desserts.
Hands down the best sandwich & probably the best meal I've had in Montreal in all of 2025. I can't remember the name of my sandwich but it was the one with a chicken cutlet on it, & my girlfriend had the parma. The chicken on mine was done to perfection - crispy, moist, & full of flavor. The cold cuts on hers & the cheese couldn't have been better. Both sandwiches were out of this world good & for once in Montreal we got more than what we paid for instead of feeling robbed by the price. Most places charge more for a smaller & less delicious sandwich. I am a customer for life here & will refer as many people as I can.
Fabulous atmosphere & presentation, was astonished by the food which was truly outstanding :) will definitely make a regular spot here to return to! Highly recommend!
My god is this place ever special! Best arancini I've ever had, & delicious sandwiches. I had the La Bologna & it was extraordinary. A very unique sandwich!
Super yummy pizza, totally recommend the sausage & spicy pepperoni, chicken cutlet sandwhich amazing.
Had the café créma, was a bit less creamy than other places.
Super cute ambiance inside & friendly staff. Cute terrasse on the street as well.

The bread is far from the authentic Schiacciata bread & not scacciata .
Very disappointed, I wish someone would truly serve the authentic. But this is not the only restaurant impersonating Italian Traditions. At the end it only gives a bad name to the World Greatest Cuisine. Too bad!!
Beautiful authentic Italian sandwiches, their arancinis are nothing like I tasted before & forget about the caffe by far the best in the southwest of Montreal.
Can't wait to go back for their new promotions on aperol spritz!!

Delicious authentic Italian sandwiches! You can tell the owner cares about quality & fresh ingredients. Sandwiches are made with focaccia bread which makes these sandwhices a pleasure to eat. We ordered La Toscana (10/10) & these new'italian sushi' rolls made of ham, cheese & artichoke with a mushroom sauce which were so delicuous & refreshing. We also got bruschetta on the housea Will definitely come back & try their other sandwiches & pizza!
Kinda sad & truly disappointed.
So I went the first time excited to have a sandwich. I ordered the porchetta sandwich aka La Romana but it was unfortunately quite disappointing. The bread , although tasty & crusty, was cut so poorly & unevenly that the top layer of the bread was so thin I couldn't even hold the sandwich.
The sandwich itself lacked flavour & the ingredients were so Skimpy, it just looked sad, as if this sandwich did not want to be made.
The arugula was wilted & yellow tasted quite bad. the grilled veggies were non existent . There was barely enough in there to even consider it as an item in the description. Don't cheap out on ingredients.
The porchetta itself tasted bland
However, even after all this
I said to myself, maybe they had an off day ? so I decided to give it another chance. I went back a few days later & this time I got, la Toscana.
The exact same thing happened. The bread was cut so unevenly that you're rendered this thin slice of bread on which is is so hard to eat ! It just all fell apart on me so I ate it all deconstructed such a bummer!.
As I was sifting through the sandwich I realized there was no artichoke cream or marinated eggplant so I looked on the menu & realized that the gentlemen at the front probably should've asked me if I wanted either of those things since it says artichoke cream OR marinated eggplants . But he didn't, so I guess I got none. That addition would have added so much more flavour.
So basically it was just cheese meat Lettuce & the kicker , two half slices of tomato ! only on one side! So total 1 slice of tomato all day. That just boggles my mind. Who does such a thing ?
I understand food cost as I own 2 fine dining restaurants . I know the cost of things like tomatoes, among other things. There's absolutely no excuse. Also, tomatoes were sliced razor thin , which is good but when you combine that with a tiny amount of slices it just seems cheap.
But this is Montreal, young entrepreneurs thinking they can do it better than the next guy .'Bro cannolis? & pizza bro ? Sandwiches you say? I do dem better den anybody bro' so they open restaurants. They focus so much on hype & decor & when it comes to the food, it unfortunately often takes a backseat, why?
Don't people just want to wow others with a good food ? Especially at these exorbitant prices ??
In the end though, this just bites you guys in the ass because you guys seemed really promising to me , this shows me a lack of care or concern . Even the gentleman manning the front seemed quite Disenchanted with the whole operation; Almost like he doesn't wanna be there. Sorry but I will never go back . I gave you guys a chance . Too bad cause I wanted to taste Your pizza al taglio ,seemed nice but when I saw them they look equally sad, as if they've been sitting there for days .
P.s Whoever is reading this review do yourself a favour, if you want a good sandwich, go to café Clark or even Bodega Montreal better bang for your buck & much tastier.
What a cute gem! Newly opened, owner is very friendly & welcoming. The interior is very cute. They have a selection of pizzas & sandwiches that are a must try! Definitely recommended.
