Came here for our 2 year Anniversary & it didn't disappoint. My wife & I started by sharing the house wine ($16 for half a litre). The value was absurd for Montreal restaurants & it was quite nice. Basically got 2 full glasses each. For our main, we shared 3 dishes: the wild surf & turf, the yellow beat salad & the goat cheese & veggie shortbread. The yellow beat salad was extremely delicious & very fresh. I would highly recommend it. Didn't love the goat cheese/veggie shortbread. Found there was not enough shortbread & it was mostly an arugula salad. The surf & turf was ABSOLUTELY delicious. The sauce they use for the deer really brings out the flavour, & the lobster tail was very fresh & tasty. My only complaint would be that it's quite small for the price point ($52). For dessert, we shared the chocolate cake with ice cream & hot peppers. It was really delicious & tasted exactly like cake & ice cream with a little kick. The peppers didn't overwhelm the dessert at all making this a very unique dessert. Service was really nice. Felt like we were the only ones here even though the restaurant was full on the inside. Didn't rush us at all but was also very present & pleasant.
The food was excellent, however suggestion that a bread basket would be appreciated instead of only one bread per person. Firstly, our servers were there as soon as we sat. Very friendly & polite staff. We started with the snow crab raviolis, which was delicate & delicious. We then had a salad course, the golden beet salad was perfect, my friend had the caesar salad which was also very good. The main course took 45mins to get to the table after they removed our plates. We had no bread or anything to keep us busy, however the other tables around us had all been served, & they were larger tables, while we were only 2. The main dishes were also perfectly cooked when we did receive them, however they were lukewarm & the plates were piping hot. It was obvious that they were sitting at the window for a while. The duck was a perfect medium rare & delicious. The salmon was also prepared to perfection. The desserts were equally wonderful. Crème brulée & blueberry cheesecake. The noise level is quite high in certain sections. The wine by the glass wasn't even close to 5oz, at the most I was served maybe 4... All in all, we enjoyed the food, be prepared for a little wait between service.
My husband & I eloped in Vancouver in October 2020 after postponing then cancelling our Mtl wedding. Nearly three years later, on October 8, 2023, we had an intimate wedding reception at La Maison Verte. It was a dream!
The venue itself is already very cozy & charming. I was able to bring in some decor (table runners, bud vases, candles, etc.) the night prior & our florist came the day of the event to finish off the tables.
The food was impeccable. The soup, the salad, main courses, desserts! Our guests only had great things to say! They timed the courses in a way that when we'd be done eating, we'd be able to open up the dancefloor, making sure that other patrons were gone so as not to disturb them.
The staff was so nice & proactive! My cousin came with her 3 month old baby & was so grateful for all the help she received! From fixing my dress before I walk down the aisle (upstairs terrasse), to bringing my husband & I some champagne & canapés while we retreated from our guests after the ceremony, to bringing our cake in & out of the kitchen for pictures, etc. The staff were true gems!
Lastly, it was a pleasure working with Eric, the manager. We had a couple of requests that we communicated very last minute & he was very flexible with us even though we would've completely understood if he didn't want to.
If you are looking to host an intimate wedding in the city (we were 67) in a setting other than your typical reception hall, where food is mid, music from 4-5 other weddings is blasting into your event, & prices are ridiculously expensive, La Maison Verte should be on your top list.
More pros: enough parking for all your guests, lovely park at walking distance for photos during cocktail hour if you choose to take some (unfortunately it was raining during golden hour so we didn't go), drinks are excellent (we opted for an open bar & added it to our tab).
