About us

At la Khaїma (nomad tent), at 142 Fairmount in Mile End, we enter into a nomadic world, a journey through colors, flavors and sensations. Once inside, African music accompanied by a rich fragrance emanating from the kitchen complete the multi-sensory experience that transports you to the Sahara. Couples can enjoy an intimate setting while large groups benefit from Moroccan salon comfort, eating from a long, low table.

The founder, of Mauritanian origin, greets guests and his joie-de-vivre warms the atmosphere. The cuisine is African with a nomad touch. Dishes are prepared with local products following the “Slow Food” concept, creating uniquely spiced tajines that offer an unparalleled taste experience. In accordance with the tradition of the desert, guests share large platters tasting all the flavors on offer, with enough to satisfy even the most demanding of appetites.

Come discover La Khaima’s unique refreshing drink made from the hibiscus flower and their mint tea. These marvelous drinks, in addition to mezzes are available by day at Khaїma cafe, 148 Fairmount. It is a meeting

J'ai adoré mon expérience. C'est comme être reçu chez la famille. Le chef-propriétaire est très accueillant. La nourriture, excellente!! Bon service. Je vous recommande ce restaurant.

Nous n'avions qu'une heure pour manger & nous leur en avons fait part: une heure plus tard nous avions nos surplus dans une boite pour emporter & on ressortait en ayant délicieusement mangé des plats qui vous sortent de votre quotidien. Le personnel est aussi très sympathique & chaleureux, ils reçoivent comme s'ils étaient chez eux.

Très belle expérience culinaire/culturelle!!

Wonderful service. Well priced byow. My brother & dad were visiting from outside the city & they loved the tent like restaurant. My brother enjoyed the food so much that he kept wanting to shake the owners hand. Can't wait to go back.

The chef comes to see you in person & explains his daily menu. He is super nice. The food is just amazing & the portions are very generous you will not leave hungry. the tables are almost ground level & you remove your shoes to enter this very north african style deco. it can get a bit uncomfrotable to sit so low though for hours, but its a wonderful experience!

Décor qui nous transporte dans un autre monde. On peut prendre des bancs & tables de type nomade où tables & chaises conventionnel. L'idée de partager la nourriture des tagines apporte un atmosphère très convivial & d'un gout exquise. J'y retournerai.
