They bake their breads on place, therefore very fresh & crunchy. They are a bit understaffed,m. Therefore, service suffers a bit.Voir plus
Food is delicious. The chocolate bread was really tasty. Service is not great. Staff was uninterested by their work & a bit abrupt.Voir plus
Love this spot at Griffintown, nice bakery-cafe, decent brunch, live atmosphere which you'll enjoy to start your day with a delicious breakfast.
They bake nice breads, weirdly they don`t have slicer, but in general is a nice place. Love the tartine avocetVoir plus
The heyday of Bete a Pain was definitely pre-COVID, but even then, while it had all the elements of a truly top notch bakery, somehow those elements never came together. The proof is in their better-than-average pastries & better-than-average breads that were just that - better than average, despite the amount of self-publicized expertise & crafts that went into their products. Bete a Pain is just that - a better than average bakery.Voir plus
Was looking forward to their fig bread. Not sure why they added rosemary to it as it doesn't go well with the fig & in fact overpowers it. Was disappointing as we make sure to drop by whenever we are in Montreal. Anise & fig or fig alone would have been better.
Our friends had the croissant ham & cheese sandwich as well as the lemon meringue. They said those were good.Voir plus
The bread is great. Pastry too. Unfortunately the mood of the staff determines the ambience a lot. Sometimes staff is very nice, other days not so much.Voir plus
I had a breakfast there & it was really good. Fresh breads are also available!Voir plus
I've been here a handful of times since the location is convenient for me. I originally was only going here to get sourdough bread once a week but then decided to try their food & drinks. I will say, the atmosphere is cozy but depending on the time of gets very busy & hard to find a seat - good things is not everyone lingers & eventually you'll find a seat. What I ordered/Have Tried: Grilled Cheese, Italien Sandwich, Parfait au Yorgurt Grec & drink wise I always get their Vanilla Late with Almond Milk with caramle drizzle. I've tried it cold & hot & both are amazing. I feel like when you dine in, your drink portion is more & when you also dine in to eat, the presentation of the food is great! The staff if friendly & the food comes out to you pretty fast considering how busy it gets. Highly recommend & if you find yourself waiting a long time, just browse the furniture store next door to kill some time lolVoir plus
Decent bakery with lots of choices of bread & sandwiches. I had the jambon beurre, but I thought the bread was too hard, chewy. Would have preferred it to be warmed up or softer. The seating area is a bit small as well & noisy.Voir plus
Came there for a fresh bread. Was somewhat disappointed about 2 things: 1. They don't have a slicing machine. 2. The more expensive breads (way too expensive to my taste) did not have a clear price mark. Other than that it's OK.Voir plus
Lot of choices hard to decide. Jambon-beurre was good even though baguette was a little bit dense. The bread with olive & tomato was good also. I would not recommend canelé & Brioche Jambon.Voir plus
Only option in the neighbourhood. Bread is ok, but goes stale within 24 hours. If you're dining in, it tastes great. Pastries are average at best, try Chez Poitier instead. Takes a long time to checkout & pay for your food.Voir plus
Nice place to buy & enjoy real bread. Try also the wine!Voir plus
I don't know about their bread, but their pastries are not worth the price.Voir plus
High class confectionery Excellent coffee Delicious & healthy special breadsVoir plus
Great place to stop for a bite & buy excellent bread.Voir plus
I recently visited La Bête a Pain, Breakfast was amazing... What a nice experience the staff were so polite, the food here is outstanding. & the bread so fresh! I came across a tomato sauce, Les Aliments Amica, it was delicious with fresh ingredients which is very important for myself & family! My kids also loved it. It's such a convenient option when you want a tasty sauce without the hassle of making it from scratch. I highly recommend it. Will be coming back for more!Voir plus
Hidden in a small alley, filled with buttery smell, good selection of bread. PASTRY: • Brioche: very soft & buttery, very fresh • Cream choux: it's so big that at first I thought that it's a brioche. Very good quality, the filling cream is amazing, I believe it's cream cheese. • Croissant: A bit small but tasty & flaky . DRINKS: • Milk oloong tea: best oolong tea I ever tried. The aroma was insanely soothing, sweet & milky. SERVICE: communication might not be too smooth if you don't speak French INSIDE: plenty of space & tablesVoir plus
Amazing spot for a quick breakfast bite. Their selection of pastries & bread is excellent, & the taste & freshness are worth a trip to this place. Service was good, too. Lastly, their coffee also tasted fresh & well-made.Voir plus
The grilled cheese is epic. Always. Excellent bread to bring home too.Voir plus
Bread, pastries, coffee...fantastique!
Updated review still fantastique 4 years later. Coffee & a croissant & life is good.Voir plus
It’s ok. Wasn’t really happy with the customer service. & the sandwich was a bit dry with all the ham outside of bread.Voir plus
