A staple of Montreal, I go every time I visit. Portion sizes are great, prices are very reasonable & 24hr service means its a great late night option (although lines at night can get quite long)
Key Poutine Spot! 🍟 🔑 If you are looking to get some poutine, La Banquise is a popular spot, & for good reason! La Banquise is a go-to poutine spot, that was recommended to me by a long time Montrealer. They have probably over 20 different type of poutine options for you. Their gravy is vegetarian, so if you get the classic poutine, it is vegetarian. They have 2 or 3 other options that are vegetarian friendly as well, including a veggie sausage. The poutine overall is great, savoury gravy with thinly sliced curds. The restaurant has seating for a lot of people & is quiet cozy. They are open 24 hours too! The service was nice as well.
loads of options, amaaazing poutine of course (we got the royale with pulled pork, apple, & bacon), neat decor, & friendly servers :)
always a fav when we're in town!

Heard of this place almost 20 years ago but never visited until last night after a Just For Laughs Festival show.
There was a line with about 3 parties ahead of us but we only waited 10 minutes for a seat indoors. As for seat outdoors on the terrace the bouncer said "forget about it", it was really full.
I had the Kamikaze poutine which was quite spicy & good. The two other people with me also enjoyed their poutines. Two of us had the regular size which was more than enough. I didn't find that the large size was worth the 50% price premium.
Price for 3 of us including tip & taxes was $50 (no alcohol).
I've had better poutine in the West Island (Montreal Hot Dog Station in Pierrefonds) but the massive variety of poutine topping options at the Banquise was impressive.
Definitely worth a try.
