Review Summary

Kyoto draws broad praise for exceptionally fresh fish, thoughtful balance in each bite, and striking presentation that makes the meal feel special; many reviewers rank it among Montreal's best sushi spots and some call it the top choice for sushi lovers. Service is frequently described as fast, attentive, and friendly, with atmosphere earning positive mentions, though a few notes point to a limited wine and sake list and room for refinement. While prices are sometimes noted as higher than average, the consensus is that quality and consistency justify the value, and takeout options and a small, intimate setting add to the appeal. Occasional critiques include rare bones in sashimi and vegetables on platters that seemed dry, but these do not detract from the overall strong impression.

This sushi place run by a Japanese family is without compare in Montreal. It is by far one of the best restaurants in Montreal & continues to be a somewhat hidden gem in Ville Saint Laurent.

The food is fresh & delish, the staff is always super friendly & attentive. We eat here at least once every two weeks.

I've been coming to this sushi bar for years!! Finally decided to write a review once & or all. It is by far my favorite sushi restaurant & the quality is the closest I have encountered in Montreal to sushi I've had in Japan. The place small but nice & cozy. The waiter is incredibly polite & patient, the chef is passionate about his food. the fish is fresh & they DO NOT cheap out on ingredients. Presentation is simple but the tasty sushi is to die for.If I could, I would eat here everyday.

We go there about once every 2 weeks. Great quality sushi -packed full of high-quality ingredients assembled artistically. Plenty of taste from the fresh ingredients & seasoning, no need for any extra soya sauce. Compared to those all-you-can-eat sushi shops, it cost about the same to feel full at Kyoto, & the quality of the sushi is like night & day.

Service is a bit slow as a sit down restaurant (only 1 sushi chef), but it's WELL worth the wait! Takeout obviously solves the waiting problem with the same quality of food & presentation. Highly highly recommended!
