Located in Old Montreal under the magnificent Hôtel Place d'Armes, the Kyo takes us on a journey into a relaxed but lively atmosphere that reminds us of the conviviality of Japanese culinary traditions. Outstanding from start to finish! The person taking my reservation was very friendly, & clear about seating options & allergy options. When we walked in, she let me know that she was the one I was speaking with, & made me feel like I was an important customer. The ambiance was even better than I was hoping for. It was warm, vibrant, & beautiful. Very esthetic. Our server was attentive, & brought me the drink I asked for in such a beautiful way (hard to describe). He took note of my many allergies (gluten/shrimp), & sensitivities (soy/sesame), & he & the chefs created a special meal for me. He took these needs seriously. My meal was not only beautifully plated & delicious, but I was totally fine afterward (no reactions) - a miracle in my world. So this is my new favourite place, for sure. So grateful for the care that everyone took to make our evening so relaxing & wonderful. Even those who were not our servers were pleasant & attentive. It felt like the whole staff was working together as a strong well-oiled machine.View more

Have been going to KYO for years...today's lunch hit an all time low..my companions tuna poke was flavourless & was left half eaten...my beef bento box was not fresh..the tempura shrimp & veg soggy...very sad to see this ...it was once one of the best..View more

Really great experience the waitress Meaghan was so nice! Been here before but was really disappointed when we ordered the yuzu donuts. They were so small & not as big as before so very dense & not fluffy. It was one of the best desserts & now it's just bad. Everything else was amazing! Especially the tataki marguro!View more
