Located in Old Montreal under the magnificent Hôtel Place d'Armes, the Kyo takes us on a journey into a relaxed but lively atmosphere that reminds us of the conviviality of Japanese culinary traditions. We had the Salmon Poke & the Salmon Sushi. We enjoyed the Salmon in both but the preparation was just alright. The service was good but the place was quite noisy. Overall, the meal was a bit underwhelming for the price.View more

Les sushis étaient correctes/assez bons.
Les étoiles qui manquent à l'appel c'est à cause du service d'administration incapable de nous envoyer une copie de la facture (que nous n'avons pas reçu sur place) de notre souper d'affaire !! Ça a pris plusieurs appels & nous avons laissé toutes les informations demandées ( heure, montant, nom du serveur ..etc) sans rappel ni envoi de facture & ni aucun suivi comme promis au téléphone !
Bref, je trouve ça dommage, nous nous sommes toujours organisés pour avoir nos soupers d'affaire dans ce resto!!View more

The sushi was nothing extraordinary. & to be honest, I was expecting more. But the dessert? That one was incredible inside out.

Amazing place. My daughter has to be GF & they were very accommodating. Enter side of the menu could all be made GF.
A bit loud inside but, that was because it was packed.
Service was amazing & all of the food was delicious. Had one of the sushi specials & the tuna spring roll. Completely full after & flavors were spot on.

Absolutely incredible dining experience! Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor & expertly prepared. The karaage was a standout - perfectly crispy on the outside, tender & juicy inside, & full of rich, savory flavor.
The rainbow rolls were far from your average sushi rolls. These were exceptionally fresh & artfully crafted - a clear step above what you'd find in grocery stores or even many other Japanese restaurants.
I was especially surprised by the seaweed rolls with egg. At first glance, they might not be the most photogenic dish, but wow - they were unbelievably delicious. A perfect example of'don't judge a book by its cover.'
We ended the meal with mochi for dessert, which had the perfect balance of chewiness & sweetness - a light & satisfying finish.
Despite the place being crowded & busy, the servers were fairly attentive. They kindly opened our bottle of wine & offered a taste before pouring, which was a nice touch & showed great hospitality.
The atmosphere was lively & had a good vibe overall, though it did get quite loud due to the number of people - something to keep in mind if you're looking for a quiet dinner.
Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for creative, high-quality Japanese cuisine.

This is a proper, somewhat fancy Japanese restaurant with excellent sashimi/sushi. I also enjoyed their shrimp tempura & beef gyoza - all excellent! Their coffee & tea were perfect, as well as desserts.View more

Nous avons commandé 3 plats, des crevettes frits, de la pieuvre frit, & un plateau de 16 sushis. Les crevettes étaient molles & n'avait pas bon goût, la pieuvre était surprenante mais baignait un peu trop dans la sauce à mon avis. & enfin les sushis du chef n'avait rien d'incroyable & il nous a été difficile de demander l'explication de ce qu'il y avait dedans. Le problème : le prix ! 90$ pour celà & rien que 51$ pour si peu de sushi… je mange régulièrement dans des restaurants japonais & autant dire que celui ci est à rayer de votre liste.View more

My top favorite restaurant in Montreal! I went to Kyo Japonais for dinner & we ordered the "Sushi Menu du Chef," which is an absolute must! We also tried the beef dumplings, & the texture was incredibly light, like clouds. The beef was fantastic (forgot the dish's name). We finished with some delicious mochi. I like this izakaya very much. The ingredients are very fresh & prepared with care. I especially recommend the tataki maguro, which has a rich texture & unique taste. The sashimi & sushi rolls are also very good. The waiter was very busy during the weekend dinner, but this did not affect the high quality of service. The food portions were not very generous, & we had to order a second round. Overall, it is a 5-star experience.View more
