Located in Old Montreal under the magnificent Hôtel Place d'Armes, the Kyo takes us on a journey into a relaxed but lively atmosphere that reminds us of the conviviality of Japanese culinary traditions. Food is outstanding - some of the best sushi we've had anywhere & unique share plates as well. Don't miss the tuna tataki or the calamari - squash croquettes were awesome too. We'd go back for sure. Service was fine, but didn't quite live up to the food.View more

Le dessert était succulent, vraiment c'est ce qui a « sauvé » la soirée. Les sushis sont biens, mais sans plus. Disons que j'ai mangé de meilleurs sushis ailleurs & pour le même prix ou moins cher. Quant au service, vraiment la serveuse n'a jamais pris un temps pour s'arrêter à notre table. Elle déposait les plats & repartait en nous disant bon appétit en marchant. The food was amazing, nothing bad to say about it. I would love to eat it again. The service sucked hard. Don't expect to get your food in any kind of reasonable time. 45 minutes for 2 meat sticks... over an hour for a rainbow roll that we ended up canceling. To be fair our waiter was good. He was accommodating, but he had to constantly apologize for the kitchen & sushi bar's disorganization.View more

Perfect intimate date night spot! Me & my boyfriend went to Kyo on a Sunday night with a reservation at around 9. The wait was pretty short as they prepped a table, & the waitress was very energetic & kind. We ordered the karaage & beef sashimi which blew our minds! They were flavourful & had good portion sizes for sharing. Unfortunately, the sushi wasn't anything special. We had the Haru & Snake rolls which tasted okay. The ingredients tasted fresh but the flavour was alright compared to the appetizers. If you are planning to visit, I would definitely encourage you to try a more sophisticated roll than these - I can promise that the ingredients & preparation are great! The drink we chose was the matcha cocktail & it was delicious. I recommend this place for a cute dinner date with loved ones since they have amazing shareables & an ambient atmosphere!View more

The quality of sashimi was fantastic, so great to have access to good sushi in Montreal. My kids ordered sushi via Uber eats which was really good so we decided to try in person seeing as even the delivery was good. The team were really friendly & helpful. We had the short ribs, pork belly, maguro tataki, assorted nigiri & some maki rolls (these weren't the superstars), we tried all the desserts & the warm beignets were the best 😍 the photos don't serve well as the lighting was dark, we definitely would come back if we were local! thanks for an amazing dinner!View more

This place is a must eat when in Montreal. The sushi is so fresh. Make sure to make a reservation because I couldn't get in my first night here. I sat at the bar & was well taken care of. Sushi was fresh. The place is in a tourist area with lots of traffic. The restaurant is tailored for high traffic. Do not order any deviation from the menu since it will be prepared incorrectly. Otherwise this sushi restaurant is fine.View more

Très bon service par Elisabeth! 💗 Bonne nourriture, mais riennà se pitcher dans les murs. Nous avons pris les Gyoza Wagyu, 2 rouleaux de sushis, tataki de thon (très frais) & beignets en dessert. La qualité des poissons est A1, mais niveau boeuf, je trouvais la qualité moindre (nous avions pris les sushi crabe épicé & c'était bien, ceux avec les sashimis de boeuf étaient difficiles à mastiquer). Les beignets sont un incontournable. Aussi, nous avons pis la dégustation de Whisky ainsi que de Sake. Super interessant. Ils offrent aussi la dégustation de Gin. I got the Pork Tonkatsu & 8 Piece Rainbow Sushi. I think the rainbow sushi is over priced. But the Pork Tonkatsu comes with an appetizer & the Tonkatsu is quite a large size so I'm quite impressed.View more

I stopped by for lunch on a Tuesday right after arriving in Montreal. The Nigiri & Sashimi combination was FANTASTIC. Nolan my server was incredible & even let me practice my broken French with a terrible American accent as he gave me recommendations. So glad I stopped in & may be back before my visit is complete. Highly recommend. It competes with some of my favorite Japanese Sushi spots from Chicago & San Francisco.View more

Nourriture succulente. J'ai l'habitude de manger des sushis en m'empiffrant, car c'est souvent insipide, mais le mélange des saveurs chez Kyo est tout simplement sublime. Je me suis délecté à chacune des bouchées que je dégustais lentement. Ils n'ont pas une énorme variété, mais ce qui est sur le menu est vraiment succulent avec de belles présentations. L'hôtesse nous a très bien orienté sur les choix judicieux à découvrir. Très souriante & avenante. L'atmosphère était très cosy & trendy. Nous étions dans un coin tranquille à célébrer un anniversaire de mariage pendant que le bar était en mode 5 à 7 & nous n'avons pas été dérangé du tout par le bruit. My partner & I were curious about this place for the past few years so we decided to stop by a few days ago when my mom was in town to try it. Very disappointing, food wise & service wise. First of all, all the food items seemed to be loosely based on Japanese food, but just jam packed with fancy ingredients, leaving no trace of Japanese taste. We ordered a kimchi cream udon, sushi & shrimp tempura. The sushi wasn't much to write home about, which was what we were craving. Just your usual tempura-stuffed rainbow rolls with just caviar or something on the top. The shrimp tempura came out lukewarm & soggy, even looked microwaved & took forever for it to come out. The udon was way too heavy, just bombarded with a bunch of thawed seafood & shimeji mushrooms, & I didn't quite understand the kimchi concept. Food left us all confused. Second, a customer next to us dropped a glass. Could happen, I worked in a restaurant a while ago so I'm familiar with it. But some of the glass seemed like it flew onto my mom's shoe or sock & she kneeled down to check. The manager came to address the customer next to us & laughed, but as he passed my mom, he just looked at her in a strange way instead of asking if everything was alright. Didn't sit well with me. However, our server was generally alright & was informative & nice. Overall, if you're looking for fusion food specifically, this may be the place for you. But in my opinion, this meal was not worth $102.33 & I'm embarrassed to have shown my mom this restaurant. We won't be coming back, not a great place for Asian food at all. You can get sushi for much less & bigger portions than what this place charges.View more
