Located in Montreal’s vibrant Plateau Mont-Royal, Kutum is proud to be the first Bengali fusion restaurant in both Montreal and the province of Quebec. Female-owned, family-run, and South Asian, we bring heart, heritage, and bold flavours to every plate.
Our menu blends the rich traditions of Bengali cuisine with creative international influences. Whether you're on a date, with friends, family, or dining solo, our spacious terrace and warm atmosphere make Kutum the perfect place to eat.
Kutum Montreal comes across as a warm, family-run Bengali-French fusion spot with a cozy, welcoming vibe and a terrace. The menu blends Bengali flavors with French and other influences, featuring tacos, tapas, naan pizza, shakshuka, and brunch plates, praised for creative twists and flavorful execution. Rewards include a pistachio Nutella latte and hibiscus tea, described as standouts, while the dishes are noted for bold spice blends and balanced flavors. Service is frequently described as friendly and attentive, with a personable touch and music that enhances the dining experience. Occasional notes mention longer wait times or uneven seasoning on a few dishes, with some items being saltier or less bold, but this seems outweighed by overall satisfaction and the sense of a hidden gem. Halal status and a focus on showcasing Bangladeshi cuisine in Montreal are repeatedly praised, and many call Kutum a must-visit in the Laurier East area, likely to return for brunch or more dishes.
Super bon plat bengali !
Went here for brunch & was disappointed. The food lacks flavour, & the ingredients used are old. The salad had an old cucumber which was transparent, so I know it's not fresh. Was expecting actual fusion but this place is not it!
Reply to the owner, I have eaten all over the world & I was expecting something with a kick (being a fusion resto)... you guys did not deliver. That's all I'm saying, I understand not everyone has the same taste but like I make better food bruh. The reply is late cause I be out eating out all day everyday, good luck on your resto tho!

This is a fusion Bengali restaurant & it definitely exceed their goal in delivering a tasty & unique offering. It will taste familiar to Bengalis while also having that flavour balance we expect from fusion cuisine. I recommend their tapas & tacos. We plan on trying their brunch too.
Absolutely loved everything about this new restaurant! The decor is rustic, cozy & instagrammable, the food is cooked with love & the service is top notch! Most importantly, their attempt at Bangladeshi cuisine with the stylings of Spanish tapas & french brunch dishes, absolutelt landed for me. Particularly, the chicken hearts tapas dish took me straight back to the 90s, enjoying mom's cooking in the family dining room. Afsara & Anabail are doing a wonderful job bringing the tastes of their culture to the Montréal gastronomy scene & their passion & sincerity is apparent in every morsel on the plate.
A Must-Try Spot in Montreal!
We flew in from Edmonton to explore Montreal & Kutum was high on our list-& it did not disappoint! It was our first time trying it & we had the beef tapas, beef rice bowl, & shakshuka. Each dish was flavorful, beautifully presented, & clearly made with care.
The space itself is quiet & cozy, with a warm, welcoming vibe from the host that made us feel right at home. Our food arrived timely & nothing felt rushed-the quality & attention to detail really stood out.
We loved how the menu offered a unique fusion of Bangladeshi flavors with a twist. Portions were just right, & the taste? Absolutely worth the hype.
If you're in Montreal, Kutum is a must-visit-especially if you want to support a local, hardworking business that's delivering something truly special & delicious!
Ordered the chicken & shrimp platters. The rice could have been cooked a bit longer & needed more seasoning. The chicken was tender, though it lacked the distinct Bangladeshi flavor I was expecting. The shrimp had a more authentic taste, but overall, the portion didn't feel worth the price.
We heard a lot of good things about this place & went with the family to try. We sat inside as it was too hot. There was only one person who is doing everything in the front. She didn't mention about the items that are not available while giving the menu card. It took them a while to prepare the food & not everything came at the same time. There was a good 25 to 30 mins between the serving of first & the last dish. Most of the items were a bit salty. I was very disappointed to see slices of plain white bread with the omelette. For the washroom you have to go through the kitchen which is kind of awkward. Everytime we had to ask for normal regular things like water, napkins & utensils. The overall service could be improved a lot. Being the only person in the front also doesn't help when clearly they are not professionals. Hopefully they can quickly improve in those areas to better serve the clients.
I've been craving something that blends my favorite meals with the bold, comforting taste of spices that I grew up with & finally, I found it!
This lovely couple has created something truly special, infusing familiar dishes with the rich, aromatic Bangladeshi spices! 😍
The flavors are simply unforgettable.... Discovering this fusion was like finding home on a plate. The food isn't just delicious-it's made with heart, & you can feel the warmth of a family touch in every dish!
I only tried a few items this time, but I'm already counting down the days until I go back to taste more.......
A truly delightful experience!
