Review Summary

Reviews describe Kutum Montreal as a warm, family-run Bengali French fusion spot with a cozy, inviting vibe and a welcoming patio. The menu stands out for creative twists like tacos and naan pizza, tapas, shakshuka, beef and chicken platters, and a pistachio Nutella latte that many call memorable. The atmosphere, music, and attentive service contribute to a relaxed dining experience, with praise for the halal-friendly concept and the care put into blending Bengali flavors with French and other influences. While most comments are glowing about flavor and presentation, a few note occasional seasoning issues, longer waits on some dishes, or certain items feeling a touch salty or underseasoned. Overall Kutum Montreal is seen as a must-try neighborhood gem that offers flavorful, distinctive dishes, a personal touch from the owners, and a charming, homey ambiance.

Absolutely loved this place! It's a Bengali fusion spot, & they've really leaned into the fusion aspect in a creative & refreshing way. I tried their Nutella latte which was super smooth & indulgent without being overly sweet. The real stars, though, were the tacos. I had both the shrimp & chicken tacos, & each bite was packed with flavour. The shrimp was perfectly spiced & juicy, & the chicken had just the right balance of heat & texture.

The large patio was such a vibe, great for hanging out & enjoying the food in a laid-back setting. The owners were incredibly friendly & welcoming, & the music playing in the background added the perfect touch to the whole experience. Can't wait to come back & try more!

We had the chicken platter & tacos. They were very flavorful & we loved the twist on the tacos. For the drinks, we had the hibiscus tea & the bengali tea. The bengali tea was AMAZING. Definitely coming back !!

Kutum is such a hidden gem in Montréal! The Best & ONLY Bangladeshi Fusion restaurant in Canada! The food is flavorful & creative, blending Bengali spices with fun twists like naan pizza, tacos, & brunch plates. The atmosphere feels warm & welcoming-clearly a family-run place with a lot of heart. The owners are a friendly young passionate couple, they checked on us making sure everything is okay. Can't wait to go back to try their brunch menu!

**First of all, Kutum Team, I must appreciate the fact that you have positioned your restaurant as Bangladeshi fusion. This was a bold & risky move, as most Bangladeshi restaurant owners I have seen in various parts of the world hesitate to associate themselves with Bangladeshi cuisine. Many fear that other ethnic communities may not be familiar with Bangladesh, making it risky to brand their restaurant as something like Bangladeshi-French fusion. After all, it's a business decision.

Salute to you for proudly representing Bangladesh & creating a name for it out there. 10/10 for business authenticity & genuineness.

Secondly, the tacos were excellent! I could taste jhuri mangsho flavors in the beef taco, beautifully blended with a Mexican touch. The shrimp taco felt like dupiyaju chingri infused with Mexican salsa. Absolutely delightful - I highly recommend them.

A small suggestion: please be a bit more attentive with seasoning in the chicken platter, though the beef platter was very good. In fact, you should consider creating a separate section on your menu for pure Bangladeshi flavors - like the beef - so people can enjoy that authentic taste as well.

Overall, well done, guys! I would highly recommend everyone to visit Kutum, support them, & help them grow even better.

My unbiased rating: 4.5/5.**

This is a fusion Bengali restaurant & it definitely exceed their goal in delivering a tasty & unique offering. It will taste familiar to Bengalis while also having that flavour balance we expect from fusion cuisine. I recommend their tapas & tacos. We plan on trying their brunch too.
