We recently visited Kotora Ramen, & unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from the moment we arrived.
The restaurant is extremely small, & considering the prices, we expected a much better dining experience. There was no staff member at the entrance to explain where to sit, so we had to figure it out ourselves. The dining area is cramped, with only a few tables packed closely together. Two of the tables are tiny & unstable, barely large enough for two bowls, & they wobble so much that it feels like your food could spill at any moment.
The seating arrangement also wasn't managed well. While we were squeezed as a group of four around a tiny table, a couple occupied a table for four. We had to keep some of our belongings on our laps because there simply wasn't enough room.
The food was another disappointment. We ordered the mazemen, & it tasted far from authentic. The flavors were very average, & for the price, we expected much better quality. We also weren't offered basic condiments like chili oil or vinegar. There was only one container available for everyone in the restaurant, so customers had to pass it around between tables.
Service also seemed disorganized. A couple sitting near us received one person's meal, but the second person's order still hadn't arrived even 30 minutes later. That's not the kind of experience you expect when dining together.
We were a group of four, & our bill came to about $120. Considering the quality of the food, the cramped dining space, & the overall experience, we didn't feel it was good value. Compared to other Japanese restaurants serving mazemen & ramen, this place is overpriced.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend Kotora Ramen. There are many other places that offer better food, better service, & a much more enjoyable dining experience for the same price or even less.
Delicious food with an amazing service. I highly recommend.
From a ramen's fan.
Very tasty food. Very reasonable price. I lobe Unagi (eel) & they make it.
Went with my 10yo son who lobes ramen, & this is his favorite now. Plus je won an ice cream.
Recommend across the board.
Small gem on Mont-Royal street. Absolutely in love with the food, the vibe & the service. I've been coming here since it opened & have never been disapointed! I cannot recommend this place enough!!
A place I love going to for a good bowl of ramen with my little daughter. Their broth is flavorful & rich, the staff is always friendly, & the place is absolutely adorable. I highly recommend it 🙂.
The unagi mazemen was super good.
