I loved the taste of the unagi. I really love the combination of the fried onion with the ramen. Something I would note on the noodle though is that it is a bit salty, but that might just be my preference. The broth is also not'soupy', it's more like a sauce. They give a great amount in terms of portion. You also get to choose how you would like to cook your egg (cool consideration)
Belle découverte dans le quartier ! Un pur délice , le mazemen était super , parfait comme plat d'été pour profiter de la terrasse . Nous reviendrons!
first time trying mazemen was good, the tonkatzu meat was tasty but not enough meat! karage was better than other karage I tried & different taste, but only four pieces.
We recently visited Kotora Ramen, & unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from the moment we arrived.
The restaurant is extremely small, & considering the prices, we expected a much better dining experience. There was no staff member at the entrance to explain where to sit, so we had to figure it out ourselves. The dining area is cramped, with only a few tables packed closely together. Two of the tables are tiny & unstable, barely large enough for two bowls, & they wobble so much that it feels like your food could spill at any moment.
The seating arrangement also wasn't managed well. While we were squeezed as a group of four around a tiny table, a couple occupied a table for four. We had to keep some of our belongings on our laps because there simply wasn't enough room.
The food was another disappointment. We ordered the mazemen, & it tasted far from authentic. The flavors were very average, & for the price, we expected much better quality. We also weren't offered basic condiments like chili oil or vinegar. There was only one container available for everyone in the restaurant, so customers had to pass it around between tables.
Service also seemed disorganized. A couple sitting near us received one person's meal, but the second person's order still hadn't arrived even 30 minutes later. That's not the kind of experience you expect when dining together.
We were a group of four, & our bill came to about $120. Considering the quality of the food, the cramped dining space, & the overall experience, we didn't feel it was good value. Compared to other Japanese restaurants serving mazemen & ramen, this place is overpriced.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend Kotora Ramen. There are many other places that offer better food, better service, & a much more enjoyable dining experience for the same price or even less.
Amazing mazemen with the best chashu in town, incredibly flavourful & tender!
A great find in the Plateau for mazemen, donburi, & ramen. The space is compact but cozy, with lots of kawaii tiger decor that nods nicely to its name, Kotora. We ordered the wakame, tonkotsu mazemen & the beef sukiyaki mini donburi - both came with an egg, & we got to choose the doneness, so we went with onsen eggs. Both dishes were very good & well seasoned. A fun bonus: orders above $20 get you a turn at the gashapon machine. Definitely a spot we can see ourselves coming back to.
Kotora Ramen specializes in mazemen, a brothless style of ramen packed with outstanding flavors. Instead of soup, the noodles are served with a rich sauce & toppings that you mix together before eating 🤤
The noodles are thick, chewy, & perfectly coated in the savory sauce. Every bite is rich, comforting, & full of flavor, with toppings that add the perfect texture & balance. Easy to pack to go 🍲
Delicious mazemen; tasty fresh ingredients! The unagi in the mini-donburi is flavourful & melts in your mouth! Very small space though &…. Well the music is a bit hectic!
The unagi mazemen was super good. Je recommande fortement ce restaurant de ramen Japonais.
