Let me introduce myself—La Croûte. Joe la Croûte. But you can just call me Joe. I’m a baker. I make bread. They say I make good bread, too. But hey, that’s not me talking—that’s my friends. And my customers.
Reviews describe Joe la Croûte as a friendly neighborhood bakery with an owner who is well liked and a wide, mostly organic range of breads and pastries that are praised for quality and taste. The bread and croissants earn especially high marks, along with the Swiss cheese bun, and signature loaves like Mythique and a levain baguette made without yeast are frequently highlighted. Holiday specials and a variety of viennoiseries are noted, though some reviewers say croissants and chocolatines can disappoint. Online ordering is recommended and customers are advised to bring cash or use debit since credit cards are not always accepted. The staff is described as charismatic and pleasant, contributing to a long standing, dependable institution that changes its selection daily and offers vegan options. The bakery is celebrated for freshness and diversity of both savory and sweet items, including the olive fougasse and the Popeye, with frequent references to nearby markets and a generally consistent, excellent standard.
I still very much enjoy this long standing institution which can be counted on for continued quality. The staff is always so pleasant. Every day of the week gives you one more reason to visit. Thank you for keeping up your excellence.
C'est la première fois que je suis entré dans une boulangerie qui offre une baguette 100% levain, sans levure. & je l'ai adorée - le goût du levain, la croûte, la mie étaient parfaits.
A pretty unique place. Excellent selection of individual breads loaded with stuff (some sweet, some savory). The Mythique is excellent, so is the Choco Plaisir. The olive Fougase is always a sure bet. See the selection for that day of the week on their website (more selection as you get closer to the weekend).
Make sure to bring cash (debit ok, but no credit card).
