After seeing Joe Beef featured on one of our favorite shows, Parts Unknown, it became a bucket list restaurant for my husband & I. We were fortunate enough to get a reservation for our anniversary & we were so excited. We weren't sure how long it was going to take to Uber there from our Airbnb so we left plenty of time & arrived about 25 minutes early so the staff very kindly set up a couple of chairs & the heater in the little courtyard area outside while we enjoyed some champagne. When our table was ready (only about 5-10 minutes later), our server greeted us & gave an overview of the menu. We opted to pick two items from the menu ourselves, & ask our server to select to select two items she thought we should try. We selected the tuna tartare & the rabbit special they had that evening, which happened to be one of the dishes that Anthony Bourdain ate on the Parts Unknown episode we loved. Our server selected the pumpernickel smorgasbord & the halibut dish. The tuna tartare was prepared tableside & was absolutely delicious - the tuna was delicate & the egg yolk mixture they used to emulsify everything didn't overpower the tuna at all. The crostini & endive leaves it was served with were great, we thought the bitterness of the endive overpowered the tuna just a bit, but it was still delicious. The pumpernickel smorgasbord was truly that, there were so many varieties of delicious seafood on top of the bread. The rabbit was pulled & wrapped around truffles & foie gras. It had a wonderfully rich sauce & the creamiest mashed potatoes I've ever had. Overall, a fantastic dish. The halibut dish was a great contrast with the vegetal flavor of the cucumbers & the tanginess from the sauce. For dessert, we had the chocolate tart (which came with a side dessert of the most decadent chocolate mousse) & the layer cake, both were amazing. The service was attentive & friendly, I appreciated the humor they all had as well, it made for a really fun evening & the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary.
The service was friendly & knowledgeable. The meal was tasty & well prepared. Would definitely recommend & would go back.
Finally had a chance to try Joe Beef, & loved it. Great experience overall, that lives up to its reputation. Will be back for sure.
One of the best meals i've had this year. Delicious food with a great ambiance that welcomes people as they are. No false pretense or pretentious allure. Just good food & good people.
Excellent food, very warm service, just a bit pricey but every once in a while it's worth it to experience something other than a poutine.
Maybe it was what I ordered maybe not. I found it overpriced on the food. It was delicious although somewhat bland. I wish there was more options but I think it's a rotating menu. The service was impeccable. Very friendly staff. A little loud inside but it was 10:30pm. Cheers from Halifax, NS.
Wonderful meal. Duck was excellent. Lobster pasta was rich & delicious. Chocolate torte was very good.
Restaurant légendaire, & ce n'est pas pour rien. Le boeuf est absolument sublime & notre entrée de fruits de mer était divine. Pour un repas spécial où on se délectera, c'est parfait!
Excellent service & food! My boyfriend also proposed to me here & the staff made it extra special. I highly recommend 👌 ☺️
The beef Wellington, which included foie gras as well as truffle on top was absolutely delicious. Definitely one of the best items I have ever eaten at a restaurant!
Everything is well crafted, very rich, & very delicious. The chocolate tart with hazelnut mousse was an unexpected delight. The whole menu is a marriage of excellent technique with rustic sensibilities. Legendary spaghetti homard deserves its fame but is slightly heavy handed on the bacon.
Finally snagged a reservation & so very glad we did. The food was perfect & the service was attentive & welcoming! We will be back!
There's a reason this restaurant has remained one of Montreal's finest over the years. The food is exceptional, the staff is warm & passionate, & the atmosphere makes it the perfect choice for a special evening. The steak & duck are absolutely divine, & to top it all off, the chocolate tart is the perfect way to end the night. Truly a must-visit for anyone in town!
Eat, experience hospitality at its finest. Relax & enjoy one of the best dining experiences in Canada. Was amazing. Our server Leo was a true professional
Definitely lives up to the hype, but it is pricey. The style of food is sauce-heavy & very rich. Cocktails were great & our server was extremely friendly. We tried a tuna dish which was a little disappointing - maybe our fault for ordering fish at a place with "beef" in the name...
Amazing food & excellent service. Our party of four thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The filet mignon special was outstanding & the lobster spaghetti was equally good. Our waiter Gab made the night incredible, he was friendly, attentive & helpful. His recommendations for appetizers, meals, wine & desserts were spot on! Not an easy place to get a reservation but we will definitely be back!
