Had not been back in a long while (pre covid) but Jatoba remains a great spot, fantastic quality food, & great service. Inevitably prices have gone up quite a bit, which makes this an expensive eat, & now more of a special occasion place for me. Regardless, still strongly recommend if looking for great Japanese fusion in downtown Montreal.
La nourriture était divine! La morue, un délice. Super beau restaurant. Les cocktails était délicieux & très original en bouche. Mais très décevant au niveau du service! Les bossboys, les suiteurs, l'équipe de soutient faisait très bien leur travail, par contre, le serveur, c'est un des pires services que j'ai eu dans ma vie. C'est décevant de manger aussi bien, mais d'avoir un aussi mauvais service. Guillaume n'était pas du tout attentionné. Je suis serveuse & sincèrement j'ai vraiment été déçue. Mais merci au chef & au reste de l'équipe pour la nourriture succulente & la belle ambiance générale du restaurant.

We had a great experience overall, starting with the affordable valet parking service, to the great ambience & nice decor, going through ordering our drinks, entrance & plate. The duck confit fried rice is a must & for petoncle lovers also try the plate they have. Also as an entrance the fried mushroom is great & the dynamite shrimp are made their own way & it's really good. Will go again
We've been here twice all the way from Ottawa just because the food is so amazing! The key is to sit at the bar so that you can chat with the bartender & learn about new drinks. Our favorite menu items are the pork & shrimp dumplings & the star anise spare ribs with rice!!
Sat at the bar, bartender was very knowledgeable & attentive. Made some very good wine suggestions. The sushi was fresh & very good. Wasn't too busy for a Thursday so we could hear ourselves talk. Good location just off Ste-Catherine.

Mon conjoint & moi venons de passer une merveilleuse soirée pour la St-Valentin au Jacopo. L'ambiance romantique & chaleureuse pour l'occasion était parfaite! Merci à notre serveur Antoine d'avoir agrémenter notre expérience avec son service hors pair. Nous recommandons la place sans hésitation. N'oubliez pas de commander la pieuvre, elle est excellente ;)
We were very unimpressed with the quality of the food for the price. Basic preparations with unexeceptional flavor profiles - there was absolutely nothing about any of the dishes we tried to suggest they would be more expensive than your average bistro. We did very much appreciate that the wine list was not all natural wines.
J'ai passé une excellente soirée. Dites a tout votre Personnelle qu' ils ont été sensationnel , service efficace & très rapide. La serveuse nous a bien conseillé dans le menu ... Moi & ma conjointe. On a été comblé dans cette soirée. Un gros merci pour votre belle expérience.
Jatoba est un de nos classiques préféré. ON hésite toujours a essayer de nouveau restaurant mais pour s'assurer que tout soit parfait on retourne toujours au Jatoba.

We had dinner at Jatoba to celebrate our 20th anniversary. This was our first visit here, being from out of town. We were greeted warmly & received a complimentary glass of champagne for the occasion. It set a really nice tone to the evening.
We love sharing plates & ordered a total of 5 dishes & 1 dessert. Our server made excellent recommendations to help us choose. My husband had the sea urchin with caviar & LOVED it ( I don't like sea urchin or caviar, so am not a good judge for this dish :-). My favourite was the filet mignon, which came with a sauce & vegetables that were simply dreamy. Dessert was a blondie with caramel & marshmallow cream - delicious.
The food at Jatoba is delicious & thoughtfully prepared. The service is remarkable: personable, professional, prompt, smooth, knowledgeable. & the ambiance is the right mix of lively & relaxed. Be prepared for a higher bill, especially if you order dishes with premium ingredients, & have several drinks or a bottle of wine. The only regret is that we could not sit in the terrace room with the red lanterns, maybe next time.
Although the food was delicious the waiter was somewhat rude & never smiled. He had an attitude when answering questions about the menu when my girlfriend asked him a question. He made her feel uncomfortable.
L'ambiance & la qualité du repas étaient au rendez-vous cependant le menu n'est pas descriptif de l'assiette. On indique la présence de riz & légumes & on avait pas dans notre assiette. Je suis prête à payer pour une cuisine différente mais je m'attends à une portion digne d'un plat principal.
Si ça n'avait pas été de cet aspect je recommanderais votre restaurant malheureusement je n'y retournerai pas & je déconseillerai votre restaurant.

Only downside is the price... 400$ for 2 persons with a bottle of wine (wine & dishes were all from the least expensive ones...) is too much even though the food is delicious....
