Jardin Nelson provides an expansive open-air setting centered on a historic courtyard environment. The menu prioritizes sweet and savory crêpes prepared with diverse fillings ranging from fresh fruit to melted cheeses and roasted meats. These signature thin pancakes serve as the culinary foundation alongside an international selection of pressed sandwiches and light salads. The dining space features lush greenery and live musical performances that complement the al fresco atmosphere. Patrons utilize the tiered seating areas to view the surrounding plaza activities while consuming their selections. The preparation technique emphasizes consistent textures and classic flavor profiles suitable for casual consumption. Every element of the service reflects a focus on accessibility and efficient delivery within a high-traffic pedestrian environment, ensuring that the primary culinary offerings remain the focal point of the visitor experience.
Jardin Nelson is widely celebrated for its enchanting atmosphere, featuring a beautiful garden courtyard, vibrant greenery, and consistent live jazz performances that create a truly magical dining experience in Old Montreal. While many guests praise the diverse menu and highlight standout dishes like the crepes, ribs, and seafood, others find the food quality inconsistent, sometimes describing it as ordinary or overpriced. Service experiences vary significantly, ranging from highly professional and attentive to occasional delays, yet the restaurant remains a popular destination for its unique, romantic, and lively setting that consistently draws both locals and tourists year after year.
L'ambiance, l'experience, l'architecture vraiment beau 🤩!
Excellent service, excellente bouffe malgré l'achalandage. Merci!!
JN is one of those rare gems in Montreal where the ambience completely steals the show. Whether it's during the day or evening, the relaxed atmosphere, live jazz, & beautiful greenery-enhanced by a whimsical rainwater system trickling through umbrella canopies-create a truly unique experience. Unfortunately, the food doesn't match the setting; the pizza is disappointing, the chicken burger is just okay, & the cocktails are decent at best. Its kids friendly & they provide coloring set to kids, but make sure your kids enjoy the live music & not ruin the experience;-)! Still, despite the mediocre food, I find myself going back again & again for the charm & vibe alone.

We had an amazing experience at Jardin Nelson! The service was warm, attentive, & efficient from start to finish. We ordered the chicken burger, crepes, & the chicken poke bowl, & every dish was absolutely delicious. The flavors were fresh & well-balanced, & the presentation was great. The atmosphere was also lovely, making it the perfect spot to relax & enjoy a great meal. Highly recommend for anyone looking for quality food & top-notch service in a beautiful setting!
My partner & I came on Sunday evening before a show, our waiter took our order & after an hour & 3 minutes we didn't receive anything-not even a water refill. At first we understood that it was busy but even people who were seated after us were receiving their food. Due to us being on a time limit due to our show we asked for the check so we can leave, the waiter brought the check & said he would bring the food in a take out, we then waited an additional 15 minutes & ultimately left. Bad service - everyone in our section didn't even receive a water refill.p
This is the only restaurant I go to each time I'm in Montreal.
It is so unique.
You must sit in the back for the experience.
The food was good.
Love the sangria.
Good live music.
We had such a good time here.
Highly recommend!
The Jardin is a very nice place & I'll admit that the atmosphere & the vibes of this place is top notch. It's a lovely place to get into if you can, though it is often extremely busy. Personally, if you're in the area & there isn't a line, it's a great place to drop in & enjoy. Gotta shout out the jazz band too. I just don't think that it's worth the long wait most people need to go through to get into it.
