Review Summary

Jardin Nelson is widely celebrated for its enchanting atmosphere, featuring a beautiful garden courtyard, vibrant greenery, and consistent live jazz performances that create a truly magical dining experience in Old Montreal. While many guests praise the diverse menu and highlight standout dishes like the crepes, ribs, and seafood, others find the food quality inconsistent, sometimes describing it as ordinary or overpriced. Service experiences vary significantly, ranging from highly professional and attentive to occasional delays, yet the restaurant remains a popular destination for its unique, romantic, and lively setting that consistently draws both locals and tourists year after year.

What a nostalgic treat this was! Having visited 22years ago I couldn't wait to get back & it did not disappoint. Our server Francois was absolutely delightful, nothing was too much trouble, very attentive & even remembered the name of the singer who was there when I last visited! We sat in the courtyard at the back (a must!!) with live jazz music. The atmosphere was wonderful, food delicious, service top tier. Would highly recommend

Have visited twice & consistently loved the live jazz, warm service, & beautiful ambiance.

Our first meal was excellent: shrimp & seafood tostada, duck confit with summer salad, & duck shepherd's pie - all memorable. On our second visit, the poke salmon, salmon tartare, & its accompanying salad were standouts. The pizza Américaine, however, was forgettable - clearly not the place for pizza but I had a craving.

Drinks were great (the maple latte especially), but I do want to flag one issue: charging **$6 for a can of Coke Zero** is unreasonable & excessive. It's the only part of the experience that left a negative impression, especially since we only discovered the price on the bill. At that price, a fountain soda with refills would make more sense, but even then $6 is egregious for a mere can of soda! I'd strongly encourage reconsidering the pricing - $3 or $4 would be fair & still make you lots of money.

Otherwise, Jardin Nelson remains a lovely spot we enjoy & recommend.

We had a party of six, & everyone's food & drinks were amazing-& reasonably priced too. We sat in the inner courtyard for dinner & very much enjoyed the live jazz music & ambience. Super happy with the experience.

Food is great. Eating on the open terrasse is a blast with the music. We had a live singer singing jazz for the terrasse.

I was worried that I was paying only for the ambience & that this was a tourist trap. Instead, I am happy that the food was delicious & the ambience was great. The jazz trio was fantastic!

We had dinner outdoors on the patio of this restaurant in the heart of the Old Town. It was recommended by our guide, & we are glad we came.
Despite the line to get in, we didn't have to wait long. The crêpes were excellent, & the Blanche de Chambly beer had a unique flavor; it is described as tasting like pear, but it definitely tastes like banana. The service was fast, & the staff was very professional. We finished off with a visit to the inner courtyard, where live jazz was playing. It had a great atmosphere, though it certainly would have been hard to hold a conversation there. Highly recommended.
