This place has such a lovely vibe & is definitely one of my favorites. The brunch menu offers a great variety of dishes, with plenty of tasty options for vegetarians. My father especially enjoyed the flavorful courgette bread! I also loved the Champi, it was super tasty & perfectly done. Janine's is definitely not like any cookie-cutter chain breakfast place that you might be used to. Dishes are very original, generous & flavorful. Visited Chez Janine on a Saturday early morning, basically right when they opened, & was lucky enough to walk in with no line. I was surprised by how big the place is! The first thing they did when we sat down was offer us a taste of their juice of the day 😍such a unique & special touch.
We honestly loved EVERYTHING we ordered. I wish I could've tried the whole menu because everything looked incredible. Hands down, one of the best brunch spots in Montreal.
That said, I wouldn't wait in line for an hour to eat here, but to be fair, I wouldn't wait an hour anywhere 🤣. Still, 10/10 recommend if you have the patience & love good brunch food!Voir plus

Delicious brunch food & large portions. The apple french toast was delicious & not too sweet at all, & quite a large portion of two thick slices of toast & a cooked apple; good to share between two people. The latkes were very good & savoury. I would recommend the latkes & the carrot cake! The latte with soy milk was also delicious. The line is very long so be prepared to wait! This is our second time at Janine!! The food, service & ambiance are top notch!!! We enjoyed a beautiful & delicious birthday brunch. Our server Hamza, was professional, sweet & very efficient. Our family had a short trip to Montreal & decided one morning, to have brunch here. Our expectations were most definitely met. We got the Croque Madame, the carrot cake, L'Oeuf & Boeuf, & the Gaufres & Poulet Frit. The Croque Madame had the perfect amount of saltiness as well as an excellent presentation. The carrot cake was moist &, for not a very high price, we received an excellent quantity. The Gaufres & Poulet Frit had a delicious waffle as well as a well fried chicken. & L'Oeuf & Boeuf was also delicious! The staff was very kind & considered our nutritional restrictions & was glad to speak English since we didn't speak French. Also, a lot of reviews were saying the wait time was very long & they usually give an incorrect time. This wasn't the case. The time they gave us was very precise as well as a pretty short wait time. Overall, this place was awesome. We would definitely come back to try the other dishes & I would 10/10 recommend!Voir plus

Unique atmosphere with very specifically crafted meals. As a vegetarian/vegan, there are not a lot of options as the menu tends more towards meat & fish. I tried a vegan spread on bread & was mostly unimpressed. I was satisfied with the food & was full as the portions are very generous. My friend's food on the other hand, another vegetarian option, was great! Overall, there's something here for everyone, just be prepared to pay more for presentation & some genuinely unique food pairings & ideas. Just note, the options available may not be right for you.
