Visited India Rosa in Griffintown recently. The ambiance is stunning & the vibe is very high-energy.
Food: I highly recommend the Paneer Stuffed Grilled Mushrooms. They were incredibly delicious & the chutney was perfectly'chutpatti' (tangy/spicy). The only downside was the portion-only 3 pieces for the price, which felt a bit small, though the quality was excellent.
A note on the decor: As an Indian, I had mixed feelings about the elephant painting at the entrance. While it's clearly meant to be modern &'boho,' seeing an elephant in traditional royal attire (reminiscent of Ganpati) holding a cocktail felt a bit jarring to me, especially at the entrance where we usually place sacred symbols. It's a beautiful piece of art, but it might feel a bit sensitive to those who grew up with traditional values.
I've attached a photo of the painting I mentioned-it's very well-painted, but the imagery was a bit unexpected for me.
Overall, a great spot for drinks & fusion flavors!
This place is awesome. The ambiance, food, warm welcome, cozy environment. Wonderful. Will def be back!
Update: went again for supper with family from out of town. Exquisite. They are still talking about the food & drinks. Sublime! A real favorite.
Nice restaurant. Food tastes great & the spices & ingredients are very fresh.
We had lamb curry, garlic breads , & the brunch club sandwich. The drink is called the exotic: it has cardamom , dragon fruit, lime & mango & is so refreshing . Would recommend all ! Price is not bad & the service is excellent. Location is nice & it's a beautifully decorated restaurant
Great food & ambiance. The staff is so friendly. The food is a great balance of Indian fusion & the drinks are delicious .
I have been to this restaurant so many times, I love it, however when I get the bar it's another story, when I get a table all as well, we enjoy our time the waitresses are amazing, the barmen (yes male specifically) have no sense of professionalism, I often get the bar when me & a girlfriend want to catch up & get a few bites & drinks, but for some reason the barmen flirt & get involved in our conversation. Very unprofessional, the first time I thought it was just being friendly but once I realized it was every time I got the bar & came with a girl & not my boyfriend, I realized how unprofessional they are & entitled. I'm sure that if i was a bit older they would treat me like any other customer, I do not appreciate the flirting, even touching my friend's arm, we would try & politely ignore them or continue our talk but they would continue & budge in. If it's not the barman it's the busboy trying to start to flirt. Even borderline giving attitude if they were not listened to the way they want, the entitlement is very shocking. I do not want to be treated any differently than the other more mature clients they have sitting at the bar. I come pretty often & wish I could get the bar without fearing having to deal with flirtatious barmen & bussers, I hope that the management can discuss with the bar crew to keep it together, as it cheapens the experience at India Rosa unfortunately, we used to go every week almost, now I try & avoid going & even tho I love the bar if I go I try to get a table just bc of the barmen.
Belle petite adresse indienne.
Service courtois.
Les assiettes tardent à venir toutefois. À améliorer...
Recommend 👍 mais que pour les drinks & ambiance. Pas de de'humpf' pour la bouffe.
The food was fine. A bit overpriced for certain items in my opinion. Mocktails tiny for the price & not included in drink specials from 5 to 7 but tasty.
We really enjoyed our meal here & the service was good. Great flavours & very tolerable spice level (for those concerned). Photo worthy food & drink presentation too. It's a bit pricey for what you get but such is downtown Montreal.
My only complaint is that it's so so so loud when it's busy you have to shout to hear your table. Not because of the music but because it's such a big open space with nothing to break up the sound. Just something to be aware of for a date night or catch up with friends, chatting was difficult.
Absolutely amazing. Drinks, food & ambience.Lamb kofta & the salmon tapas were AMAZING, the green sauce was incredible- slight spice with a yogurt cilantro flavor. The Korma- was fantastic!!
Great food & drinks, awesome decor & top notch service! I recommend this spot!
I'm a huge fan of this place! It truly captures my culture & offers the closest fine dining Indian restaurant experience in Montreal. The food is always amazing-this time, we tried the Indo-Chinese dishes, & my girlfriend absolutely loved the concept. The drinks were also well-crafted, adding to the overall experience. While it's a premium-priced spot, the quality, authenticity, & ambiance make it completely worth it. No regrets-just great food & a fantastic time!
We reserved as a big group for brunch & we were very well taken care of! The food was delicious, & the drinks/smoothies absolutely divine! The Mango Lassi is a must try. The price wasn't too crazy for a chic restaurant, & the service was great as we got our food quick & all at once. Would definitely be coming back :)
This resto is very cozy & inviting. Great staff. It is also kid friendly. The food was soooo tasty & well seasoned. This was our brunch spot for my daughters' birthday & we will most definitely be back. The drinks are also on point. I would give it a 9/10 all across the board!
I absolutely love here!!!!! They serve the BEST Pisco Sour!!! It's my go-to spot for brunch in the summer & dinner all year long. Every birthday, my friends & I celebrate here, & it's always a memorable experience. The food is incredible!!! . Highly recommend it for both the amazing food & drinks!"
An excellent dining experience. Our server was knowledgeable, professional & very nice & made our experience even better. Great food & drinks & a good value.
This place is aesthetically very pleasing! The service was good, the drinks were great! however there was a disconnect of food expectation. If you are a party of 10 or more, there is a pre-fix menu - which is fine. However the pre-fix menu is 1 item for person. For example, we were a party of 10 so we received exactly 10 samosas. Exactly 10 pieces of chicken. There is no option to receive more. If you like your food spicy, this may not be the place for you. The chicken tikka was sweet & the dal makhani had the right flavor. Again, this was a pre-fix menu. If you are less than 10, your experience may be different.
I had a unique experience with Indian cuisine in a nice ambiance. I tried the butter chicken for brunch, which was served with poached eggs- an absolutely astonishing combination that exceeded my expectations. The flavors were rich & perfectly balanced. The staff were incredibly kind & helpful adding to the overall excellent experience. Although I didn't try any drinks, those served to other guests looked impressive & well-prepared. A must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy Indian cuisine with a creative twist!
Lovely experience last night! The eggplant Bharta was so incredibly delicious, & the onion entree as well. Our waitress was amazing & was very knowledgeable about the drinks & the food, to help us make our choices; it definitely added to the whole experience. A little on the pricier side though.
Great atmosphere; friendly & knowledgeable service; original drinks worth it from the bar-excellent presentation; good portions plenty for 3-4 people to share. Would recommend for special occasions.
