About us
Located in an enchanting setting on the shores of the Lachine Canal, Il Fornetto is a perfect place to offer oneself a moment of relaxation and change of scenery without having to leave the city. Inside, the rustic-inspired though modern décor is particularly pleasant. Yet it is above all for its superb, double-level terrace looking out directly over the canal that people love this place. Open from early in spring until late in autumn, the terrace welcomes you to come and enjoy beautiful the sunsets.
Il Fornetto’s menu takes on the appearance of an encyclopaedia of Italian cuisine. The selection is impressive and includes all of the staples: pastas available as a full dish or half portion, which is great for an entrée, various antipasti and veal and the most important staple of them all, pizza baked in a real wood-burning oven. Here, it is particularly delicious, crispy and topped with the freshest ingredients. Not surprisingly, this restaurant – open since 1987 – shows no sign of slowing down.

Il Fornetto has been a part of my life for over 20 years-growing up, I visited often with my parents & siblings, & last night I returned with my partner. It's wonderful to see this restaurant still delivering that classic Italian experience. The food met my expectations-consistent & well-prepared, with a traditional approach to Italian cuisine. I had the Risotto al Funghi, which was creamy with a slight al dente bite, just as it should be 🙌🏽. The Polpette della Nonna were also nicely done, not overpowering with spices or garlic, making them enjoyable for all palates. Their fire oven pizza, with its thin crust, was delicious, & shall I add that the oven itself is a beautiful centerpiece. The atmosphere remains cozy & inviting, perfect for both small & larger gatherings. Service was excellent, as always-attentive & welcoming. Definitely worth the visit!View more

Our favorite place in Lachine. Very cozy place because the spot is very nice on the riverside. The food is excellent! We always make reservations on the second floor to enjoy the beautiful view .Highly recommend. Their pizza is the Best!View more

We've been coming here for 30 years & it has been consistently great. One of my downtown friends joined me there this week & he raved about it competing favourably with any "townie" spot. Just don't go during Grand Prix week or Valentine's day... way too busy. Everything on the menu is every good, & the pizza is excellent.View more

We arrived (4) people & greeted by the "owner" & promptly brought us to our table upstairs. It was a very busy Friday evening & seemed they were a bit short staffed. Our waiter, Evan, was like being on the 100 meter dash as he was buzzing away & offering great service to us & all his tables. He was excellent & attended to us as if it was the only table that's how great he was. We received our drinks & food in a timely fashion. Everyone enjoyed their food except my friends wife orders the lasagna, very good, but the bottom layer was overcooked/burnt that she could not slice it with her knife & subsequently did not eat the last layer. Everything else was perfect! Overall great evening & experience!! Definitely a must go for dinner!!View more

Nice place on the waterfront in Lachine. Sorry to say but I wasn't blown away by the food, it wasn't horrible, tasted ok but not really that impressive. The drinks we ordered were miniscule for the price (old fashioned) & I think they got the other one wrong (margherita, but they brought a senorita).View more

The portions are not always large, depending on what you order. The service is ok, but I have had definitely more friendly service elsewhere. The staff kept brushing up against our backs because our table was in the middle of the restaurant where the waiters & waitresses passed. The food is good but overpriced by FAR! We just had two main course & two desserts & paid around $125 plus tip. This restaurant has an outdoor upstairs balcony/terrace but the entire upstairs was not even open, even though the main floor was almost full. You can do better than Il Fornetto! I wouldn't go again.View more
