Don't say you want to share. Divide your own meals on your plates & save five dollars. Seems a bit sneaky the way they offer it, but it is stated on the menu about the charge. We also waited a long time to be served after we arrived.
Can't beat the view from the patio. Beautiful park & waterfront to enjoy. Awesome location.
Don't go to this restaurant if you like chicken. I seriously searched & couldn't find a pasta or a pizza with chicken!
The salmon pasta was incredible with a bit of Parmesan on it! The Giardino pizza was a bit bland.
Host & server were both accommodating to some unique needs our family had.View more
We had the filet, pasta ortobosco, & the salmon.. the creme brulee & cappuccino for dessert.. all cooked to perfection.. they also accommodated our GF needs excellently.. ambience warm & cozy, it was our anniversary, so NICE... highly recommend ❤? LuvRKView more
We had a lovely dinner last night at Il Forneto. The food, the service & the atmosphere were all excellent. Will definitely be back :) I had the grilled salmon with pasta with a small caesar salad.View more
We love going there. The food is always great. The pizza & pasta are always delicious. & there is a variety of wine to pick from.View more
It became our fav Italian resto in no time.
Located by the beautiful waterfront in lachine
Their pizza is to die for! Like really amazing & I don't usually love pizza in general. It's just tastes like in Napoli, Italy… yummy! Thin, crispy, but also a bit chewy, with just perfect amount of toppings, & made in the wood oven! Perfection!
We have tried everything in their menu , but my fav is eggplant parm! Omg…. It's so so freaking good!
The veal dishes are amazing & the pastas are cooked to perfect al dente. So many tasty dishes to choose from.
Service is always great , super friendly, fast & attentive, with smiles.
This resto is very popular, so make reservations, you will not be disappointed.View more
I finally got to eat at this restaurant after years of people telling me how great the food was. The place filled up quickly for lunch. A small, cozy restaurant with a nice ambiance. I ordered a penne pasta dish with a tomato, cream & mushroom sauce off the table d'hôte menu. The pasta & sauce were a generous portion. It was good, but nothing to rave about. Choice of soup or mixed green salad. I had the salad that came with frisée leaves only & one small underripe tomato wedge. The vinaigrette was decent, but I've had better. We asked for bread rolls. They were large & tasty, but would have been better if served warm rather than stone cold. For the cost of $27 before taxes or tip, I was underwhelmed especially for an Italian restaurant. If I go again, I'll probably try the veal to see if it's worth returning. I think a few small improvements would have made this meal more memorable.View more
Had my birthday dinner with my mum here & it was a nice experience, initially got a table on the ground floor, but did not like the ambience , a nice waiter was kind enough to get us a space upstairs right beside the fireplace which we loved more & was a great picture spot . The service was great & the food was nice!. My only downside was that it was too noisy , I would have thought that for a Wednesday it would be less crowdy, ( but this means they are doing a very good job & people like their food) . We had jumbo shrimp with a side of pasta, Italian seafood rice , grilled steak & vegetables, a glass of red wine & a glass of juice for my mum. Spent 200+ plus tip. Now my mum is in love with the Italian seafood rice & she is asking when I'd be bringing her again 😅. & yea!!! I got a dessert on the house because it was my Birthday!!!!!! Thanks guys, I really enjoyed my birthday dinner .View more
Nice location, good food, friendly service, classy atmosphere. I would ask you to add gluten-free pasta & pizza on the menu please.View more
Great ambience but the food is dismal. The sugo for the pasta bolognese was too sweet & without flavor, closer to Chef Boyardee. The quality of the pasta is very low. No olive oil offered with the bread. I live in Italy. This place would never survive here.View more
One of the best Pizza's & pastas in montreal. Delicious. Service is great. Prices are affordable. Location is amazing, facing the canal.View more
Amazing food, great location, & service was 10 on 10. The calamar was fresh, & all our pastas were amazing.View more
Unfortunately it has changed. Use to be good food. They lost a client who went there for years. The veal was hard like plastic the pasta had no taste . Service was so so. Too bad. Who can afford to lose clients these day at $150 for 2 people with 0 drinks . Not a good move. I complained they said sorry. lol. So never again. 0 buisness knowledge big 0View more

Il fornetto is my go-to for Italian food in Montreal. With a beautiful view over the Lachine canal, wood stove pizza cooked in house infront of you with scrumptious pasta dishes & imported desserts. Do not skip this place!View more
Had a great experience at Il Fornetto! We were a group of 6 celebrating my sister in-law's birthday & the service was excellent. The decor is very tasteful & the ambience is nice as well. I had a light pasta for dinner paired with a nice red wine.View more
I came here for Valentine's Day with my gf & the vibe was perfect, the decor is rustic & charming but still sophisticated. Great vibe overall. The service was excellent. Our waiter visited us early & often & was very kind & patient with us. The food was fantastic. My gf & I both got different pasta dishes & both were excellent. The pasta was cooked perfectly & the sauces were delicious. We ordered a lemon granita for dessert which completed the meal & was very refreshing.View more
We used to go a lot in the Summer to sit on terrace & we used to love it but our last visit in Dec 2023 turned us off SO MUCH that we will never again step foot there & we tell all our friends to avoid this restaurant. Reasons why below. 1. Prices incredibly expensive for what they serve. Portions kid-sized. They did not bring us any bread & butter at the beginning (though we saw some on other tables) & had known what was in store for us, I would have asked for some! I ordered some Australian fish fillet. It was so thin, it was almost transparent & so small in size that it was done in about 6 big bites. The side was only half a cup of veggies, mainly bell peppers. This alone cost $42 from the table d'hote. I asked to substitute the Minestrone for Straciatella instead (I said I was fine to pay a little extra to get the soup I wanted - in the end they charged the full $12 for my Straciatella & full $42 table d'hote price for the plate) So for a soup & miniature fish fillet & mini portion of veggies, we are already at $54 + my gin martini $18 = $72. & I am still starving. When the others were ordering dessert, I told the waiter that it may sound weird to ask the following, but can he bring out some bread & butter please. The thought of leaving still a little hungry after having spent almost $100 after tax & tip without even coffee & dessert was too much for me. I knew I would go home & start foraging for food within an hour, thus the request for bread. Hubby also had one drink, soup & stuffed pasta meal (also kid portion) with a regular coffee & dessert. Total of our bill before tip = $154 & still leave a little hungry. Weeks later we went to DA MANGIONE in Dorval & left VERY full & paid A LOT less for the same type of meal + we had excellent service there. HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU GO THERE INSTEAD! 2. Last point & this is not about the waiter, he was great, it is more about the owner/kitchen staff. Our friend ordered the meat lasagna & the guy asked for just a few pepperonis thrown on top of it, if possible, was willing to pay for it. Weird, but hey, that is how he likes his food! We go out to ENJOY a meal when we choose to eat at a resto. The waiter said we would check with the kitchen & comes back to advise that it was NOT possible. They serve pizza so we know that there is a bowl of sliced pepperonis in that kitchen! What would it have changed to grab a few & throw it on top of the lasagna before serving it He was going to pay extra for it. So, not a very accommodating resto....... It ruined it for our friend as well who now also tells his people to stay away from Il Fornetto. This resto left a sour taste in our mouth!View more
Belle vue sur la terrasse , pasta délicieuses & le reste du menu très moyen & les prix quand même dispendieux comparativement au qualité .View more
We had a lovely dining experience here. They offer a varied & great selection of drinks & food items & they all look so amazing. The pizza is prepared in a fire oven, the choices of pasta look great & the steaks all look wonderful too. I had a great time eating the boar steak in a pepper sauce. For around 45$, it came with a cream vegetable soup & a meat sauce spaghetti which was a pretty filling meal. The soup was creamy & had great flavours, the spaghetti was cooked perfectly, the texture was great & the sauce was also tasty. The boar was my favourite, the meat was not dry at all & it paired so well with the sauce. The contrast between the strong flavours of the boar & the lighter flavours of the spaghetti made the meal really enjoyable. On the other hand, the aspect that took us out of the night the most often were just children screaming & running around. Even though it was somewhat classy as a restaurant, it was still a family type restaurant & a lot of children were dining too. The service was professional but they were not that patient & not that friendly, They were polite for sure, but not easy to talk to.View more
Outstanding restaurant. Pasta Alfredo was top notch & the pizza was the best I've had in over ten years. Great service tooView more
We always have a wonderful meal at Il Fornetto - the pasta is perfectly cooked & seasoned. The pizza is great also! Emelie is a wonderful server!View more
Dinner with my colleagues. Vegetables + chickpea soup was delicious. The Veal + ricotta pasta tasty but a bit under cook. I like my pasta al dente but the edges were a bit hard... Will come back in the warm weather to enjoy a meal outside.
Went for lunch. The service was quite fast. Roasted chicken with pasta was very delicious.View more
Brought my team over for the first time, they LOVED the pizza & pasta, & talked about it to others the day after! Service was lovely with great knowledge about the choices, as well knowledge about the drinks! Thank you!
Two of us ordered same pizza Bella Italia which has mushrooms which is one of the reason I picked this combination pizza. They both came with no mushrooms as the waiter or he said the cook got confused cause someone had order a pasta no mushroom. I thought they were underneath. After eating a slice & a half we both saw neither of us had mushrooms. When we mentioned this to him he left saying I will see what I could do. His solution was to offer me & the other person a coffee at the end of our meal. I said nothing as my children were with me but this was really disappointing & unacceptable. People work hard for their money & to get 2 pizzas at 26.00 a pizza & have an ingredient missing to no fault of ours certainly is disapointing to be offered a coffee. & the other person did not even drink coffee. Most establishments make it right when it is their mistake. Unfortunately I felt very disappointed on how it was handled. Thank you for reading my comment.
First & last time eating at Il Fornetto!! I was really looking forward to experiencing this restaurant & having veal limone with pasta but the restaurant was unwilling to change the tomato sauce on the pasta for garlic & olive oil which is fairly easy to make & already on their menu. I was even willing to pay a surcharge for a substitution. The waiter did however suggest that I order 2 meals! Ridiculous & not focused on customer satisfaction. Instead, I enjoyed cold pizza with uncooked mushrooms & the worst cesear salad I've ever had.
I can pretty much guarantee better Italian restaurants in the city. I would strongly recommend going somewhere else or bringing your own food & having a picnic in the park across the street.
I've been eating at this restaurant for 20 years?.. with no complaints.
Always well received, not to mention a smile. I can honesty say over the years I've brought many people who feel the same as I. It is & has been my go to for pizza & pasta. My friends & family rave about the veal.
Servers have changed over the years although always professional & courteous.
Wow! Wow! Wow! From the food, to the service to the view...Everything was beyond excellent. The filet mignon was grilled to perfection (medium), the grilled vegetables were tender crisp & not burnt, the lamb was tender, & the lasagna sublime. The pasta bolognese was good & plentiful. The desserts moutwatering albeit maybe a little small.
We were 2 adults & three children (ages 8 to 12) & all we kept repeating was how good it was. Sixteen years ago we held our engagement party here & have returned a few times over the years. This year we chose to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversay here & we are glad we did
