About us
Located in an enchanting setting on the shores of the Lachine Canal, Il Fornetto is a perfect place to offer oneself a moment of relaxation and change of scenery without having to leave the city. Inside, the rustic-inspired though modern décor is particularly pleasant. Yet it is above all for its superb, double-level terrace looking out directly over the canal that people love this place. Open from early in spring until late in autumn, the terrace welcomes you to come and enjoy beautiful the sunsets.
Il Fornetto’s menu takes on the appearance of an encyclopaedia of Italian cuisine. The selection is impressive and includes all of the staples: pastas available as a full dish or half portion, which is great for an entrée, various antipasti and veal and the most important staple of them all, pizza baked in a real wood-burning oven. Here, it is particularly delicious, crispy and topped with the freshest ingredients. Not surprisingly, this restaurant – open since 1987 – shows no sign of slowing down.

We visited this place for Mother's Day & they accommodated us last minute for a party of 12. The service was great, food amazing, I loved the Foccacia ! & the veal scallopini.
I found the dessert to be a bit pricy.. granita for 10$. However, 5 stars for this restaurant I will definitely returning!

The food here is great, but unfortunately I had a disappointing experience when I called ahead to ask about bringing my medical alert service dog. I was told they don't allow them because they've'had too many problems in the past.' When I mentioned that I have proper documentation, the response was,'Yeah, everyone has those.'
I understand that some businesses have had challenges, but refusing access to a medical service animal is against the law. I hope the restaurant takes some time to learn more about accessibility moving forward.View more

We dined this weekend for my mother's birthday. The service & food were excellent. We were placed on the 2nd floor of the restaurant where larger parties could be seated. There were a few large parties in attendance at the same time which lead to a loud & a little cramped atmosphere. This is, however, a minor nitpick. Everyone ate well & enjoyed their food & the service. Would still highly recommend Il Fornetto!View more

We didn't feel welcomed in the restaurant. Food is average. The atmosphere & vibe is good but that's the only thing nice about the place. Found the staff a bit racist/classist. We weren't offered the focaccia they usually serve to the guests. We had a late lunch so only ordered 2 entrees for 3 people. Got charged $5 extra for sharing our entrees. The portion size is very small compared to the prices. Would have ordered dessert & drinks if we were treated with some more warmth. Wouldn't go again.View more

J'ai donné 3 étoiles pour la cuisine, car j'ai commandé une salade César au poulet grillé. Bien que la portion ait été généreuse, j'ai trouvé la présentation & le goût plutôt ordinaires. Pas de bacon, pas de câpres… juste une salade assez banale avec une poitrine de poulet déposée sans soin dans l'assiette. En revanche, la crème brûlée était délicieuse, tout comme le cappuccino. Le verre de vin était bouchonné, mais la serveuse a fait preuve de patience & de gentillesse.View more
