Food was great we love the pizza! Atmosphere is nice but we could not hear each other talking so that was a big problem. Wine was great too!View more
Il Fornetto has been a part of my life for over 20 years-growing up, I visited often with my parents & siblings, & last night I returned with my partner. It's wonderful to see this restaurant still delivering that classic Italian experience. The food met my expectations-consistent & well-prepared, with a traditional approach to Italian cuisine. I had the Risotto al Funghi, which was creamy with a slight al dente bite, just as it should be 🙌🏽. The Polpette della Nonna were also nicely done, not overpowering with spices or garlic, making them enjoyable for all palates. Their fire oven pizza, with its thin crust, was delicious, & shall I add that the oven itself is a beautiful centerpiece. The atmosphere remains cozy & inviting, perfect for both small & larger gatherings. Service was excellent, as always-attentive & welcoming. Definitely worth the visit!View more
Our favorite place in Lachine. Very cozy place because the spot is very nice on the riverside. The food is excellent! We always make reservations on the second floor to enjoy the beautiful view .Highly recommend. Their pizza is the Best!View more
We've been coming here for 30 years & it has been consistently great. One of my downtown friends joined me there this week & he raved about it competing favourably with any "townie" spot. Just don't go during Grand Prix week or Valentine's day... way too busy. Everything on the menu is every good, & the pizza is excellent.View more
Has a really lux atmosphere at a bargain price point. The upstairs is really nice with a fireplace, linen tablecloths & great views on the terrace. We had the pizza which was excellentView more
One of the best Pizza's & pastas in montreal. Delicious. Service is great. Prices are affordable. Location is amazing, facing the canal.View more
View more
Great experience !! service & food were fantastic...we have never been disappointed when visiting ! Pizzas are awesome , risotto delicious, pastas amazing & their tiramisu is a must !!View more
Another great meal at Il Fornetto. Been coming here for years, not only for the food but the ambiance inside & out, with a great view of the Lachine canal. The staff are super friendly & always welcoming. Shared a large Caesar salad which was perfect for 2 people as a starter. Then enjoyed the Lasagna which is always consistent & tasty, & had the Rucola pizza which was absolutely delicious. All their pizzas are fantastic, you can't go wrong with any of them, & so many to choose from! In addition also had a Table d'hôte of Braised Short Rib with some spaghetti. The meat was so tender & succulent. This included a mista salad or minestrone soup. Sadly no room for dessert on this visit, but their tiramisu & crème brûlée are worth the extra indulgence.View more
Tres belle place pour une pizza en terrasse, La pizza est bonne & le service est de bonne qualité.View more
Il fornetto is my go-to for Italian food in Montreal. With a beautiful view over the Lachine canal, wood stove pizza cooked in house infront of you with scrumptious pasta dishes & imported desserts. Do not skip this place!View more
We celebrated a birthday last night & everything was amazing! Luckily we had reservations because the restaurant was full. Please keep in mind that you can't reserve on the terrace (to the couple who made a scene lol) We were seated within 5 minutes of arriving & the food arrived shortly after. Everything was delicious! The mushroom risotto was creamy & the rice cooked perfectly & the Calabrese pizza was soooo tasty! The owner also found out it was my fiancée's birthday & offered free coffee & limoncello. Will definitely come back!View more

Calamari was super chewy, tasted like it came out of a freezer. My risotto was inedible - I had to send it back. Pizzas were fair. Carbonara was dry & lacked flavour. Parmesan was not freshly grated.View more

We used to go a lot in the Summer to sit on terrace & we used to love it but our last visit in Dec 2023 turned us off SO MUCH that we will never again step foot there & we tell all our friends to avoid this restaurant. Reasons why below. 1. Prices incredibly expensive for what they serve. Portions kid-sized. They did not bring us any bread & butter at the beginning (though we saw some on other tables) & had known what was in store for us, I would have asked for some! I ordered some Australian fish fillet. It was so thin, it was almost transparent & so small in size that it was done in about 6 big bites. The side was only half a cup of veggies, mainly bell peppers. This alone cost $42 from the table d'hote. I asked to substitute the Minestrone for Straciatella instead (I said I was fine to pay a little extra to get the soup I wanted - in the end they charged the full $12 for my Straciatella & full $42 table d'hote price for the plate) So for a soup & miniature fish fillet & mini portion of veggies, we are already at $54 + my gin martini $18 = $72. & I am still starving. When the others were ordering dessert, I told the waiter that it may sound weird to ask the following, but can he bring out some bread & butter please. The thought of leaving still a little hungry after having spent almost $100 after tax & tip without even coffee & dessert was too much for me. I knew I would go home & start foraging for food within an hour, thus the request for bread. Hubby also had one drink, soup & stuffed pasta meal (also kid portion) with a regular coffee & dessert. Total of our bill before tip = $154 & still leave a little hungry. Weeks later we went to DA MANGIONE in Dorval & left VERY full & paid A LOT less for the same type of meal + we had excellent service there. HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU GO THERE INSTEAD! 2. Last point & this is not about the waiter, he was great, it is more about the owner/kitchen staff. Our friend ordered the meat lasagna & the guy asked for just a few pepperonis thrown on top of it, if possible, was willing to pay for it. Weird, but hey, that is how he likes his food! We go out to ENJOY a meal when we choose to eat at a resto. The waiter said we would check with the kitchen & comes back to advise that it was NOT possible. They serve pizza so we know that there is a bowl of sliced pepperonis in that kitchen! What would it have changed to grab a few & throw it on top of the lasagna before serving it He was going to pay extra for it. So, not a very accommodating resto....... It ruined it for our friend as well who now also tells his people to stay away from Il Fornetto. This resto left a sour taste in our mouth!View more
We had a lovely dining experience here. They offer a varied & great selection of drinks & food items & they all look so amazing. The pizza is prepared in a fire oven, the choices of pasta look great & the steaks all look wonderful too. I had a great time eating the boar steak in a pepper sauce. For around 45$, it came with a cream vegetable soup & a meat sauce spaghetti which was a pretty filling meal. The soup was creamy & had great flavours, the spaghetti was cooked perfectly, the texture was great & the sauce was also tasty. The boar was my favourite, the meat was not dry at all & it paired so well with the sauce. The contrast between the strong flavours of the boar & the lighter flavours of the spaghetti made the meal really enjoyable. On the other hand, the aspect that took us out of the night the most often were just children screaming & running around. Even though it was somewhat classy as a restaurant, it was still a family type restaurant & a lot of children were dining too. The service was professional but they were not that patient & not that friendly, They were polite for sure, but not easy to talk to.View more
