katsu(72) japanese(33) recommend(30) soup(28) udon(27) curry(27) tempura(24) pork(22) authentic(16) sauce(15) chinatown(13) salmon(13)I went there last Saturday at 11am, the staff is very friendly & professional. The food was great. 10/10.
The service & food were good, but the soups (1st one was a creamy one taste like the Campbell mushroom soup & the 2nd one was a miso base) were both cold 🥶. I did tell them about it, & they immediately switched for me. Overall, good tonkatsu & udon bowl. I'll come back to give them a 2nd try
Excellent Katsu. Just as good as what I used to eat in Japan. 100% recommended
Better than resto in Japan, reasonable price, delicious, must revisit 100%
Room for improvement. It was the dinner rush but even then the food took longer than expected to come. Curry was good but katsu seem too dark in color.
We went to Montreal for a quick weekend trip, & I had high hopes for Hoshi! We got the fried pork meatball appetizer, ten don & the curry katsu. The ten don was good, it could use a bit more rice at the bottom. It had 3 shrimps, 1 scallop, an egg, fried nori, sweet potato & I think radish? Curry katsu wasn't my favourite, it was a bit dry, & the curry was extremely heavy on onions. I prefer my curry smooth. Serving was generous, we ended up taking the leftovers home. I'm usually used to katsu having coleslaw, & sauce & grinded sesame on the side. The fried meat balls were dry & a bit flavourless. There's dots of sauce on the side to make the plating look nice, & it was, however, I feel like sauce on the side in a separate container would have been better. The avocado at the bottom was a bit out of place. The restaurant is cozy but it's too tight in between the tables. It did take ~30-40 mins for our food to come out though. Not my favourite place, but for a ten don fix, I would go here specifically for that!
Went there last Saturday for dinner. It was the most delicious udon I've ever had. The waitresses were all so nice too. By the way, I sat right in front of the door, so it was kind of cold. But it was amazing in general!!
So nice, the food was great, & the service by the waitresses was amazing. Thanks to Yu Jin for her kindness & hospitality, we'll come back for sure !
Went there for dinner. The waitresses were SUPER nice. The food was amazing. Definitely would recommend!!!!!
Very good! Definitely the best Hire Katsu I've had outside Japan.
Sushi, kimchi, & rice were not fresh at all ! Waiter ASKS for tipping which must be something the customer desires. Beautiful & clean atmosphere, fast service (not very special but satisfying), clear instructions. The beer was enjoyably cold.
The Japanese fried pork cutlet was a bit dry,but the portion was big & service was good . The lunch special was a good deal .
Un joyau quelque peu caché dans le quartier chinois. Les plats étaient excellents & les portions étaient plutôt généreuses. Le service était impeccable. Nous avons tous adoré notre expérience & y retourneront certainement.
Came here for dinner & It was busy but we luckily got seated right away I got the Shrimp Udon Soup & it was bursting with so much flavor, the udon was perfectly cooked, & all of the toppings were so delicious. Staff is also super friendly & although its small I loved the overall vibe of the restaurant :) I liked the soup so much that I went back the next day but this time right when they opened! Staff was again very friendly, attentive, & the soup was just as good as the day before! I truly enioyed both of my visits & cant wait to come back again!
Vraiement super bon resto. Le Katsudon très recommandé etnaussi lassiette avec tempura!!! 5✨️
Hoshi was an okay experience. My partner & I came after seeing an ad on Instagram. We started off with complimentary mushoom soup that was a great way to beat the cold. I ordered the Katsu-don, & my partner got the katsu. The katsu were as thick as the pictures showed. It was crunchy & maybe a bit overdone as it was slightly chewy. I personally would've liked the cuts to be thinner if anything because I value the crunchy outside. The egg didn't seem to be seasoned, maybe intentionally, but the sauce with the rice was really good. My partner's comments were that he also found the katsu to be a bit tough & would've liked more of the seasoning on the side. There was also a lot of salad. Overall, this is a cute hole in the wall Japanese restaurant that really tries to give authentic Japanese food. Personally, I don't see myself coming here too often, but it was good.
