The service was genuinely friendly & hospitable, & the portions were generous - the complimentary cream of mushroom soup was also a nice touch. We ordered the Teppan Hamburger Steak & the Katsu Curry Udon, but both dishes came out too heavily seasoned for our taste. The miso soup on the side was similarly over-seasoned, with the anchovy notes from the dashi stock overpowering the other components. My partner also got a stomachache after the katsu curry udon, which may have been a one-off, but it added to an overall mediocre experience unfortunately. We've had better katsu & Japanese steak elsewhere.
A very cozy, homestyle Japanese restaurant located right inside Chinatown!
I ordered the Udon Hoshi Katsu & really appreciated how generous they are with the crispy cod katsu & scallop katsu.
However, I'm not entirely sure how well the guacamole pairs with the udon. I also wish they would serve the fried fish & scallop on the side, as the steam from the hot udon tends to soften the crispy crust of the katsu.
If they are going for a fusion angle, a citrus & rice pairing might work a bit better here rather than mixing it with the heavy katsu sauce.
That being said, it's a lovely spot & I'd definitely say come out to support this small business! I really hope to see them refine the dish & improve over time.
Our plate came with a fly on it… & the waitress & turned a blind eye. She looked like she didn't want to work or be there, not a single smile while she served us. The katsu don was a bit too salty meanwhile the curry udon was a bit bland. They also forgot some ingredients to our bowl & we had to recheck the menu & asked them for it..
Food was great! Friendly staff & reasonable prices.
We ordered the the spicy salmon salad, rosu katsu udon & the curry katsu don
The katsu was very good & flavourful, some pieces were slightly tough, but for the most part very tasty & tender, & the curry sauce is great. Salad is very refreshing.
Would definitely come back!
2025/10: hoshi tempura udon 27$ before tips, came with a miso soup & cream mushroom soup, filling for 1 person (5/5)
Small resto but cute, more on the edge of Chinatown. Good Japanese food though the mushroom soup they give (included) & miso soup were way too salty.
They were out of hire at 7pm so we got the rosu katsu quite filling. The menu is rather simple & variations with soup or udon miso soup or rice or udon curry. Meat was juicy crispy tender & flavorful. Prices & portions are good! Also had the salmon tartare entrée on a bed of avocado, tasted great.
One waitress/host managed the few tables. She was really nice & courteous
Very delicious comfort meal. Great portion size & thickness with the meat- super crispy! Reasonably priced too.
Ordered:
- Hire Katsu Curry Udon
- Hire Katsu Curry Don
Excellent location, food comes fast & is very tasty. Had tempura udon, portions are large & all come with miso & cream of mushroom soup.
Won't make a mistake if you come here. Cheers
Nourriture excellente, très savoureuse. Vraiment le highlight de mon année si vous êtes dans le coin & recherchez un restaurant c'est ici qu'il faut venir. Bons prix aussi

The food is absolutely amazing! I had lunch there two days in a row during my short trip to Montreal. Highly recommend the udon noodles there!
