katsu(87) curry(36) japanese(34) recommend(31) soup(29) udon(28) tempura(24) pork(22) salmon(18) sauce(16) authentic(16) rice(15)Hoshi was an okay experience. My partner & I came after seeing an ad on Instagram. We started off with complimentary mushoom soup that was a great way to beat the cold. I ordered the Katsu-don, & my partner got the katsu. The katsu were as thick as the pictures showed. It was crunchy & maybe a bit overdone as it was slightly chewy. I personally would've liked the cuts to be thinner if anything because I value the crunchy outside. The egg didn't seem to be seasoned, maybe intentionally, but the sauce with the rice was really good. My partner's comments were that he also found the katsu to be a bit tough & would've liked more of the seasoning on the side. There was also a lot of salad. Overall, this is a cute hole in the wall Japanese restaurant that really tries to give authentic Japanese food. Personally, I don't see myself coming here too often, but it was good.
Food was delicious. They gave us a little plate of soup before our order arrived. The girl who served our table was super nice.
If you're in the mood for japanese food that isn't ramen, this is the place to go!! The service is great & accommodating & the food was delious & high quality. Will be coming back to try more from their menu.
Tasty food, good service but the space lacks heating especially when seated at the door.
Délicieux curry japonais au filet de porc. Service rapide & excellent rapport qualité prix. Je recommande :-)
In my opinion the best hidden gem I have encountered in Montreal, I would highly recommend Hoshi to anyone who wants great food, friendly service & something different.
I had a wonderful meal with my friend. The portions are abundant & the flavours are rich. Very recommended, I'll definitely be back soon
Great, well-priced food. Might be the best katsu I ate in mtl. Issue with the door not closing which made the place colder - hopefully it's fixed. Not worth dinging a star over it
So good! Presentation was great. Food was delicious. Small cozy restaurant & friendly staff.
The service was amazing, the food was so aesthetically pleasing & it tasted just as good!
I dont usually leave reviews, but this is the best katsu I had in Montreal hands down. This place is new but they definitely know how to make good Japanese cuisine. Great service as well. Would definitely come again!!!
The Japanese food here is very authentic & delicious, especially Kastu Don. The discount during lunch time makes it quite budget-friendly.
Excellent katsu! Best I've had in the city & best tempura too. The batter is light & crisp, the pork is moist & perfectly cooked. The ingredients for the tendon is high quality & also perfectly cooked. A must-try for sure! The space is quite small so it might be a good idea to go during off peak hours. Their area in chinatown is a bit hidden so I hope everyone who hears about it will go! Disclaimer: My meal was comped.
Literally the best Japanese food you will ever find in Montreal, you actually can't go wrong. Anything you order will be absolutely incredible. Made with authentic, quality, & delicious ingredients. If you will ever have Japanese food you must come here.

Hoshi has a great atmosphere with really nice staff. The food was excellent & I recommend the Hire Katsu curry don.
