Review Summary

Ho Guom draws praise for fresh, flavorful Vietnamese dishes, a varied menu, and a welcoming, well decorated space with friendly, attentive service. Pho is often highlighted for a rich, balanced broth, while other dishes such as bun cha Hanoi and various grills receive strong notes for taste and satisfying portions. BYO wine is frequently mentioned as a plus, and many diners find the prices reasonable given the generous portions. The ambience is described as nice, clean, and lively, with a vibe that fits both casual meals and more special outings. While service is usually quick and courteous, a few reviews mention occasional delays or minor missteps. Overall, Ho Guom is regarded as one of the best Vietnamese options in the area, a reliable spot for dine in or takeout, and a restaurant that many patrons say they will return to and recommend.

Such a good find on the South Shore! These two dishes are not commonly on the menu in Vietnamese restaurants: Bún ch? Hà N?i & Bún ?c.

Bún ch? Hà N?i (forgot to take a photo) was an insane discovery for me: smoky, freshly grilled pork, served with rice vermicelli & a big plate of herbs. You dip everything into a sweet & savory fish-sauce broth, & every bite tastes light, fragrant, & super satisfying.

Bún ?c was equally memorable in a totally different way: a comforting bowl of rice noodles in a tangy, tomato-based broth with snails. It's bright, slightly sour, & refreshing rather than heavy, especially with the herbs & garnishes mixed in.

If you're craving something beyond the usual ph? & bánh mì, this is definitely worth trying.

Brought home takeout on New Years Eve & we really enjoyed the meal. I had never had Vietnamese food before so I went to the restaurant to order our meal. I told the nice man at the counter that I was not sure what to get. Told him what we like & didn't like & he was very helpful. For our group of 4 adults & 2 young children he suggested 4 of their combo dishes all different so we could sample everything. I can't tell you if it was authentic Vietnamese food or not as it was our first time but I can say we all enjoyed it. Shrimp, chicken, beef & General Tau dishes were very good. Even had a little left over. The place look nicely decorated & while I waited, it looked like a nice place to have a relaxing meal. My wife & I will come back.

The experience was somewhat underwhelming. We ordered a rice plate & a bowl of squid soup, but both dishes were unfortunately quite bland. Compared to their Jean Talon location, the flavors just didn't measure up-perhaps due to the absence of the owner (?), who is often present there & known for maintaining quality. I agree with others guests that this could be pricey : the protein portion sizes also felt small for the price, which makes the overall value hard to justify. Honestly, I would have rated this 1 star based on the food alone, but I don't want to hurt a small business. That said, I do feel it's important to be honest so others know what to expect.
