Review Summary

Overall, Ho Guom is described as a bright, clean Vietnamese restaurant with generous portions, fast and attentive service, and a welcoming, authentic atmosphere. Many reviews note the BYOB option and appreciate the value, with large portions and fresh, flavorful pho and other traditional dishes. The staff are repeatedly praised for friendliness and helpfulness, though a few diners caution that some dishes can be inconsistent and that portions for certain mains may feel smaller for the price. Regulars mention a modern Vietnamese decor and a wide menu that includes staples like spring rolls, noodles, and beef or chicken pho, making this a go to spot for family and friends on the south shore.

So glad to have found this restaurant on the South Shore! Great addition to the area. The food was fresh & delicious. Both the pho & the bun bo hue had broths that were light yet full of flavour. The service was efficient & well-organized, & the restaurant itself was very clean. Definitely will be back & it's BYOW which is always nice!

I think it's the best Pho I had, the broth is delicious, the flavour is right. We had the grilled chicken & the beef. If your craving a delicious & comforting Pho, this is the place. The staff is super & the restaurant is super clean. Love it !!

Such a good find on the South Shore! These two dishes are not commonly on the menu in Vietnamese restaurants: Bún ch? Hà N?i & Bún ?c.

Bún ch? Hà N?i (forgot to take a photo) was an insane discovery for me: smoky, freshly grilled pork, served with rice vermicelli & a big plate of herbs. You dip everything into a sweet & savory fish-sauce broth, & every bite tastes light, fragrant, & super satisfying.

Bún ?c was equally memorable in a totally different way: a comforting bowl of rice noodles in a tangy, tomato-based broth with snails. It's bright, slightly sour, & refreshing rather than heavy, especially with the herbs & garnishes mixed in.

If you're craving something beyond the usual ph? & bánh mì, this is definitely worth trying.

I've been 3 times now since their opening & it's always been delicious! I've had the beef pho twice (excellent broth that you can actually taste the spices in!) & I recently had the grilled chicken, beef & shrimp plate. Fresh, flavourful & good value for money. The atmosphere is nice & the service is courteous. I'll be coming back regularly!

While the restaurant was very beautifully decorated, the food & service were underwhelming.

I came here with my family for lunch & ordered two ph? ??c bi?t lunch special combos (came with 2 spring rolls per combo) for $22 & bún ??u m?m tôm for $25.

While I thought the combo was good value, the ph? fell below my expectations as it was too heavily spiced. I think they put way too much star anise, cinnamon & cardamom, resulting in your throat burning after taking each sip of the broth.

The spring rolls were crispy & okay, though the veggie-meat ratio is off (not enough meat in the filling).

Also, I was just not impressed with the bún ??u m?m tôm. For $25, I expect a bit more than just fried tofu & a few pieces of ch? m?c. There wasn't even any pork or intestine, which is usually very common in the dish.

Finally, the service wasn't the greatest. Our waitress sounded a bit condescending & didn't seem happy when taking our order for some reason.

Overall, as a non-native person, it's passable. But as a Vietnamese, I think many more improvements can be made moving forward.
