Gatto Matto Laval Restaurant: Menu, Reviews & Reserve (2026)

The designer Jacques Gaspo from Foodtastic (behind La Belle & La Boeuf, Souvlaki Bar, Carlos & Pepe’s, Le Blossom, the new Nickels and Bacaro Pizzeria) developed Gatto Matto over a two year period. A revolutionary and Avant-Garde Art Deco concept with a flower bar theme that is a fusion between Chicago and Italy. Using premium materials designed and manufactured in Montreal, the elements marry themselves wonderfully. Bright and vibrant colors give a WOW factor that will make you feel like in a modern Milan hotel with a girly touch. The creation of the open kitchen concept never seen before in the Montreal area (in collaboration with Hagop Hagopian, director of operations at Foodtastic and expert in kitchen design) allows you to see the best chefs in the region at work. No need to travel, we bring Europe to your table.

Review Summary

Reviews show Gatto Matto as a lively, stylish Italian spot where the food is generally delicious and well presented, with standout items like grilled octopus, burrata, seafood pasta, carbonara, pizzas, and a meaty steak option; service is frequently praised as attentive, friendly, and efficient, making the place feel welcoming for dates, celebrations, or pre game meals before events at Place Bell, though some nights can be very loud and busy. Pricing is often seen as reasonable for Montreal Italian dining, yet portions can be small for the price and a few sides or extras, such as bread, may incur extra charges; reservations are advised during busy event nights and underground parking nearby can be validated. Overall, the vibe, decor, and DJ or music contribute to a vibrant atmosphere, with many guests leaving impressed by the combination of great service and tasty, well executed dishes, while a few reviews note room for improvement in noise control and value.

This restaurant has excellent food, excellent ambiance. I suggest the salmon & tuna tartare! The drinks are great, the gelatto too. The soap in the bathroom smells like roses, adds to the restaurant's theme!
The free parking is a plus!
I recommend to all!
