I can't say enough great things about Gatto Matto Laval. We were there this past Friday to celebrate my wife's birthday, & as always, it was an exceptional experience.
We come here often, about once every two weeks & there's a reason we keep coming back. The service is consistently outstanding, with plenty of attentive staff who make you feel truly taken care of. The atmosphere is perfect: lively with great background music or a DJ, yet still comfortable enough to enjoy conversation at your table.
Everything was spot on from the food to the overall vibe. It's one of those rare places that delivers every single time.
A big shout out to Shawn for always taking such great care of us-courteous, professional, & genuinely welcoming.
& one detail that really makes a difference, especially in Montreal winters: the free underground parking. It makes the whole experience that much more convenient, no matter the weather.

This place might deserve the best review I've ever written. They have the holy trinity; food, service, & atmosphere. Food is delicious, service goes above & beyond, & atmosphere is a cool, eclectic & upbeat. & Kyle, let's not forget about Kyle. He is the absolute man, great service.
Is the place perfect? No such thing. The tuna takiti is underwhelming, but everything else is an 11/10. Highly recommend.

I had a very frustrating experience trying to book my bridal shower here.
I initially met with a manager to discuss hosting the event. She gave me the menu, & I told her I would be bringing my own cake, so dessert would be removed. She then made up an estimated price on the spot & said she would confirm with the owner.
Weeks went by with no response, despite multiple attempts to follow up. When I finally called again, a different manager gave me a completely different price & said she would also need the owner's approval. Once again, no one ever got back to me.
To make things worse, I was told two different prices for cake cutting - one staff member said $8, another said $4. This shows a lack of consistency & professionalism.
Overall, this place feels very disorganized, with poor communication & prices that seem to change depending on who you speak to. It made me very uncomfortable trusting them with an important event like a bridal shower.
On top of that, portions are extremely small for the price, wine is expensive despite being a lower-end brand, & the staff does not seem experienced in managing private events.
I would not recommend this place for hosting events, & I'm glad I decided not to move forward.

Service lamentable, manque de professionnalisme & de politesse de la part de la serveuse.mlle Marielle. Zéro sourire. Pas vraiment son métier. Retire les ustensiles, napkins & mon drink avant d'avoir terminé.En faisant la réservation nous avons mentionné que c'était a l'occasion de notre anniversaire de mariage …Zéro attention de la maison, pas de scotch au bar!! Nourriture correct, prix correct, ambiance correct . Pas recommandable.
La nourriture est excellente. Mais l'expérience est gâchée par la musique vraiment trop forte & plus la soirée avance, plus c'est fort. La musique etait nice mais vraiment trop forte. C'est awkward. Ça feel plus comme un club qu'un restaurant honnêtement...c'est décevant on devait crier pour s'entendre. Si la musique était 50% moins forte on aurait eu une expérience 5 étoiles. Mais pour 110$ à se crier après pour sentendre, non merci. Je ne recommande pas cet endroit pour une date ou soirée où vous voulez parler avec les personnes avec qui vous êtes.
C'était un mercredi soir, j'ai emmené mon copain pour son anniversaire. C'était top! C'est un super beau resto. L'ambiance est géniale. Par contre la dame qui nous servait n'avait pas vraiment l'air dans son assiette 😅 ça se voyait que c'était la fin de la journée & qu'elle voulait rentrer chez elle. Autrement tout c'est bien déroulé. Service assez rapide. La nourriture était pas mal! J'ai pris les pâtes carbo elles étaient bonnes mais sans plus. J'ai préféré sa pizza lol, excellente. Les frites aussi géniales. Overall belle expérience, je pense bien y retourner pour goûter de nouvelles choses! Je recommande.

We came on Saturday 11 people..Myliann! I never had a better service in 10 years… the food is amazing…the decor is so aesthetic… but Myliann made mine & my family's night that's for sure…she even gave us a tarot card reading that was spot on..HIGHLY recommend Gatto Matto!!!
Edit: I changed my review from 1 start to 4 stars because the manager of the restaurant contacted me & solved my problem to some limit.
I value this gesture greatly & would be interested to maybe go back & try something different trusting that my experience would be better.

I did not enjoy my experience in Gatto Matto
While the restaurant has good staff & nice ambiance - the pizza was horrible, I ordered the Carnivora Pizza which was too salty & when I advised the waiter he only moved his head like he doesn't care. I do NOT recommend this place.
Excellent restaurant, chic & sobre à la fois. Le personnel est tout simplement super. Nous avons été servie par Beatriz.
Courtoise, polie & aimable. Son service à été fantastique.
La nourriture est délicieuse.
Je recommande ce resto.
