Everything was awesome, from hotesses, Ricki, food, drinks. Food menu not so complicated but effective. Good wine list. Nice ambiance. Recommend it for sure.
Our waiter was excellent, very cordial & attentive. I'd give him a 5/5. However, our drinks & food took quite a while to arrive. We ordered the confit de canard & the mussels casserole. The mussels were overly salted, & I didn't finish my cocktail before another waiter cleared it away. The food was decent overall, but the experience could have been better. I'll give the restaurant another try. Perhaps they were too busy, but that shouldn't be an excuse.
My husband & I were here with 2 friends from out of town. We had a wonderful dining experience! The venue is old world charm, warm & cozy. We were seated promptly at a high top table & greeted quickly with water. We had 2 lovely waitresses take care of us & they were great. The entire staff is very attentive & professional. The drinks were delicious & the food was superb! You will not be disappointed here!
Our meal was terrific, but Nicholas's bar service is what really stood out. Nicholas was friendly, very knowledgeable--particularly about the bars stock of Quebec-distilled spirits, & he mixed delicious drinks. His Old Fashioned was as tasty as I've ever had. Go to Gaspar & drink & eat at the bar!
We used to be regulars at Gaspar because we liked the food & loved the servers but we stopped going because there were some hostesses who were very rude & didn't make us feel welcome. (One sighed when we asked for a table for 2 & asked us:'How long are you going to be?') Gaspar then had a bit of a format change, hired better managers & stopped hiring rude hostesses… but kept its best servers (i.e. Domenic, Ludovic). The food is consistently good (if a bit pricey) & the bar serves great drinks. The cod fritters are our favourite starter (great for sharing) & we recommend the steak frites & braised beef cheek as mains. The space is really nice & they seem to have lowered the volume of the music, which makes conversation easier. Gaspar is once again one of our regular spots & it's where we take out-of-town guests (who are always impressed). It's also perfect for a solo guest because there is seating at the bar. You'll love Gaspar!
Very nice place with amazing staff. We sat at the bar where Nicholas took great care of us & served drinks in which you can tell he puts a lot of love into.
Had an amazing time dining here. Dom was a fantastic help & made our night so much better.
The food was amazing. We tried escargot & the charcuterie which was incredible.
The crème brûlée was the best I've ever had.
The drinks were very good as well.
Would 100% go back next time we are in Montreal!

We picked this place to celebrate our anniversary & wanted authentic French cuisine. We weren't disappointed. We were greeted at the front by an extremely polite hostess who congratulated us on our anniversary & guided us to a nice table with a street view. Our waiter also congratulated us on our anniversary & offered complimentary drinks to celebrate. We had French onion soup & bison tartare to start, which were exquisite. Special mention goes to the onion soup, which was made to perfection. Spot-on caramelized onions-for hours, as evidenced by the color-rich broth, tasty bread, & superb house-smoked cheese on top. This was one of the best onion soups I've ever had in our five visits to Montreal & Quebec City. The beef cheek with risotto was also heavenly. Super tender, & the risotto was quite unique compared to others I've tried. It was very flavorful with saffron, while squash added sweetness, nicely balanced by the saltiness of the Parmesan cheese. 10 out of 10. Would definitely recommend.

I had forgotten how wonderful a French brasserie could be! Cod croquettes, Beef cheeks with saffron rice & moules frites were all wonderful. Drinks were expertly prepared by Dahlia & food service by Rachel capped the meal perfectly. Will definitely return & send my friends! Thank you!
Dominic was an attentive, accommodating & all around awesome server! He made our dining experience with 3 kids very relaxing & enjoyable, anticipating & taking care of our every need. The food, drinks & atmosphere was top notch! Thank you!
