If Ferreira Café has quickly established itself as one of the best restaurants in town, there is no mystery: a visionary owner, an inspired chef, high quality products and a talented and dedicated team. In Montreal, Ferreira Café gives the Portuguese cuisine all its nobility.
Reviewers describe Ferreira Café as an elegant, intimate setting with chic Portuguese influences and a strong focus on fresh seafood. The menu is praised for beautifully balanced dishes, high quality ingredients, and care in both flavors and presentation. The service is repeatedly described as attentive, knowledgeable, and professional, though a few guests note occasional lapses when the restaurant is busy. Many guests praise standout items such as octopus, black cod, bouillabaisse, and other seafood specialties, with compliments on generous portions and thoughtful pairings. The wine list and cocktails receive frequent praise, and the open kitchen adds to the lively, upscale vibe. Prices are described as high and some feel value does not always match the cost, along with occasional notes about additional charges for bread or olives. A few reviews note noise level or occasional off nights where dishes arrive not as hot as expected, but the overall sentiment remains highly favorable. Overall, Ferreira Café stands out in Montreal for authentic Portuguese dining and top-tier seafood, delivering a refined yet welcoming experience that many would happily return for.
First time for me. Ferreira's reputation proceeded itself. In some ways the hype really left more room for disappointment. I was anything but disappointed. From door greeter to being walked to the back room where my party had already sat the first impression was top notch.
The table staff was top tier. The food was delicious across all courses. At a seafood place, I had rib-eye because I had yet to have a quality steak on my trip & this was one of the better ribeyes I have had in recent memory. Montréal knows how to cook beef.
I will be sure to revisit in future trips.

Super belle place. Service A1, lets mets étaient délicieux. La propriétaire est meme venu nous accueillir à notre table. Vraiment une belle place, un must côté culinaire. Nous y sommes allé avec nos enfants.
Yesterday we were at this establishment, the food was delicious but we took rice with seafood & lobster with us, when we got home we tasted the dishes but the rice was not cooked, the lobster was poorly cooked, it was impossible to eat because it was rubbery, in addition, the mussels were not fully cooked.

Service & food is excellent. But the choice of music is horrible. It's 1950 & 1960 rock which has nothing to do with such a beautiful restaurant. I did ask why the music & they said the owner choose it.
Ferreira Café hardly needs an introduction-its reputation speaks for itself. I didn't take pictures because the food was so good, we were too busy enjoying it. From the simplest tomato salad & perfectly cooked calamari to the olives & every bite of the main dishes, everything was fresh, flavorful, & expertly done. It's the kind of place you know you'll return to, no question.
Superb experience. Staff are incredible & all the dishes we tried were superb. Would highly recommend. Wine list is also great. Special mention to Jeanne who does an incredible job!
This is definitely a showcase restaurant for Portuguese seafood & cooking, from appetizers, main to desserts, it will brighten your day & will not disappoint. We went there as a party of three. We deliberately choose different items from the menu. We all decided to go back again for another time to have more.
I visited McGill University in early November of 2024. A couple of university professors took me to Ferreira for dinner as I told them earlier that I liked seafood. There was a lot of options even among seafood. I ordered a salmon dish. The others ordered a variety of dishes. The dishes were plentiful. Later, we ordered a sampler of desserts. All dishes were very tasty. Overall, it was a very good dinner.
We were guests at a private event in the open-kitchen dining room on the mezzanine. The staff at this fine-dining restaurant was outstanding. Once again, we were served by Fernando. Whenever Fernando was around, we dined splendidly. He had carte blanche for the amuses-bouches, appetizers, & dessert. As usual, he dazzled us with an array of starters: sardine filets, black cod cake, grilled squid, crispy octopus, smoked eggplant, Senhor José's homemade smoked salmon, &, not to be forgotten, the Joselito Ham which was incredibly delicious & melted in the mouth. For the main courses, my wife selected the "Porcini-crusted roasted black cod," while I opted for the filet mignon, which was perfectly cooked rare as requested, juicy with a crust. For the wine, I wanted to experience the wines from the owner's Portuguese vineyard. Fernando recommended a reserved bottle that was not listed on the menu. For dessert, we enjoyed the famous pastéis de nata, chocolate mousse, fartura de feira, & sorbet. To cap off the meal, we were treated to a complimentary shooter. The bill was considerably steep, but the meal was absolutely incredible & memorable.
Bravo! Annie Roy & André Rivard de Québec.

The food is very good. I give 4 stars because the dish I ordered - the Bouillabaisse- is extremely salted. I asked for some lemon & I was also offered broth without any additional salt to dilute the sauce. Next time, I will remember to specify No Salt when ordering the food! !
Not sure what was better, the service or food? Our waiter was lovely & made the best recommendations. The food was divine! Will def come back on my next trip to Montreal. Thank you for a wonderful experience
Just wow! Unfortunately no photos, but had the sardines to start, perfectly cooked! Had the duck risotto, good lord it's outstanding, served in individual pots. Had an outstanding bottle of Portuguese red wine & finished with a beautiful glass of 10 year old port. Not cheap, but you pay for spectacular food, wine & educated & engaging staff.
