If Ferreira Café has quickly established itself as one of the best restaurants in town, there is no mystery: a visionary owner, an inspired chef, high quality products and a talented and dedicated team. In Montreal, Ferreira Café gives the Portuguese cuisine all its nobility.
Ferreira Café is described as an elegant, lively institution for Portuguese dining, with refined decor, warm hospitality, and an open kitchen that adds energy to the meal. The seafood and Portuguese dishes are frequently highlighted as fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, with standout items like octopus and black cod praised by many guests. Service is repeatedly praised for attentiveness and knowledge, and the wine list and desserts are noted as excellent. Some visits note premium pricing and occasional inconsistencies such as food not arriving hot or slower service during peak times, leading some to question value. Overall, these reviews converge on Ferreira Café as a memorable Montreal dining destination for special occasions, business meals, or a lively night out, while a handful of experiences suggest room for refinement.
We had a fantastic experience at Ferreira Cafe! The atmosphere was absolutely lovely, & the food was truly amazing - fresh & delicious. Every single dish we ordered was a hit - not a single disappointment! Highly recommend!

Went here after reading a lot of hype about it. It was just ok. We waited about 15min with a reservation at 9pm. For appetizers we had shrimp crudo & a sardines dish. For main dishes we had the duck confit & the octopus. Everything was beautifully presented. The shrimp crudo was interesting in a good way. The sardines were yummy but underwhelming. The duck & risotto was good. The risotto comes on the plate & also in the Le Creuset pot it was cooked in. It was tender & tasty. The octopus was disappointing. I ordered it because it's something I would not prepare at home. It was not flavorful enough & the greens it came on were so bitter, it was hard to eat. The atmosphere is quite loud & bustling & you can tell the team takes pride in serving & they work well as a team. I found it to be over priced. Some places I'm excited to return to visit. I will not be coming back here but I'm glad I had the chance to try it.
This was a wonderful experience, food was delicious, wine as well & service was prompt & deserving of applause. The atmosphere is cheerful & yet sophisticated. I wholeheartedly recommend it!

I had 4 oysters ( we split a dozen between the 3 of us), then the delicious salmon tartare (very small portion, max 2 table spoons on a plate) thank God there was a piece of bread! Then I had a very small portion of tuna steak (1 1/2 inch by 1 1/2) & 1/2 a cup of rice (I'm being generous here, maybe a little less)… & a small portion of veggies… I came out of there still hungry… with a tab that was well into the 3 digits… with an alcohol free drink & a simple coffee … I left 15% tips ( the server didn't look too happy)… the crowd was much older, maybe that explain the small portions? If you workout & try to hit your daily protein targets think twice!
