If Ferreira Café has quickly established itself as one of the best restaurants in town, there is no mystery: a visionary owner, an inspired chef, high quality products and a talented and dedicated team. In Montreal, Ferreira Café gives the Portuguese cuisine all its nobility.
Reviewers describe Ferreira Café as an elegant, intimate setting with chic Portuguese influences and a strong focus on fresh seafood. The menu is praised for beautifully balanced dishes, high quality ingredients, and care in both flavors and presentation. The service is repeatedly described as attentive, knowledgeable, and professional, though a few guests note occasional lapses when the restaurant is busy. Many guests praise standout items such as octopus, black cod, bouillabaisse, and other seafood specialties, with compliments on generous portions and thoughtful pairings. The wine list and cocktails receive frequent praise, and the open kitchen adds to the lively, upscale vibe. Prices are described as high and some feel value does not always match the cost, along with occasional notes about additional charges for bread or olives. A few reviews note noise level or occasional off nights where dishes arrive not as hot as expected, but the overall sentiment remains highly favorable. Overall, Ferreira Café stands out in Montreal for authentic Portuguese dining and top-tier seafood, delivering a refined yet welcoming experience that many would happily return for.
I wish I could give this place 6 stars! We went at 9 PM & had the prix fixe menu. The food was perfect & the service was outstanding. With the promotion after 9 PM, we got way more than what we paid for. The seafood was fresh & perfectly cooked. We tried both of Mr. Carlos Ferreira's wines, & they were excellent. We even ended up buying his olive oil to take home. Thank you to this restaurant for exceeding my expectations!

Tried this Portuguese restaurant after noticing the red Michelin sign at the entrance. Overall, a great surprise - creative dishes at very fair prices. With a bottle of wine & dessert, dinner for two was CAD 310, which felt reasonable for a Michelin place.
Ham 🌟🌟🌟🌟- tasty, rich fat, but tiny portion. Fun fact: menu says'the best ham in the world.' When I asked who decided that, the waiter said,'they did' lol
Black Tiger Prawns 🌟🌟🌟🌟 - grilled perfectly, with mild chili oil & scallions.
Scallop Crudo (Ceviche) 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟- the highlight, fresh & sweet, with fruity dressing, strawberries, & crispy chips.
I was told that Montreal serves the most diverse cuisine, & it's true.
As a European I can confirm that Ferreira Café serves genuine Portuguese food, including an extensive list of wines.
The Joselito 2019 ham was excellent. My partner ate riz fruit de mer with hoard, which he loved. I had the morue noire, which unfortunately arrived not even lukewarm. When I mentioned this to one of the servers, she just smiled ...
I am very impressed with my dining experience at Ferreira.
I normally don't do Google reviews, but I think they deserve my time writing it.
I walked in to the restaurant without a reservation. From the step into the entrance until the step exited the restaurant, it's been awhile for me to have such an enjoyment from a meal dining.
Chefs at Ferreira has a very skillful technique. They are very considerate in details.
Each dish has been prepared beautifully & with details of temperature control as well as precisely into the time for your consumption. We ordered the seafood rice casserole. It's very flavorful with fresh ingredients. It was cooked perfectly with the sauce just perfectly reduced. When it came to your table, still have some sauce there when it came to your table & rice was just right. After your first serving, the sauce the absorbed completely by the rice & rice texture became a bit soften. This is where impressed me the most. The chef not only takes care of your first sensation, also making sure the dish stays good until the last bite.
The crispy octopus was also a hit, which I ordered a second helping.
Duck risotto is to die for as well.
The fresh catch of the day, we had seabass. The service from the servers no matter from ordering or to serving, they are experienced with the traditional service we can hardly see in the new restaurants in the recent years.
Nevertheless, they still offer frothed milk on the side when they serve you coffee.
I am just a tourist to Montreal,
this hearty meal completed my trip.
I think they deserve at least one star from Michelin & a place in the Best 100 Canada's Restaurants.
An exceptional dining experience from start to finish. The ambiance is both inviting & refined, the food is full of flavor & beautifully presented, & the service is attentive without ever being intrusive. Highly recommended.
Attend this restaurant for my birthday. This is a Portuguese Michelin mentioned restaurant offers various types of seafood & fish as well as steak. Started with the octopus & it was fantastic. Main course was the Rice & Seafood & also very tasty. dessert was Pasteis de Nata, 2 small Portuguese custard tarts. This is my favorite dessert. They were good, but still prefer them directly from Portugal. Overall a great experience.
Menu is creative & filled with awesome options. Interior is swaggy & sleek. If seafood &/or Portuguese cuisine is your niche then you'll love it here. I had the swordfish appetizer & the signature black cod - both excellent fish & well-balanced dishes overall.
We loved our experience at this restaurant; our waitress, Elizabeth, was great. Our food was exceptional & fresh. We ordered the grilled calamari & sea bass. Everything was delicious!
Great restaurant to enjoy delicious Portuguese meal! Great seafood selection, from fresh oysters to grilled octopus! The after 9pm table d'hôte promotion is really worth, & allows you to try the delicious food selection on the menu! The service was also amazing & you have to try the pasteis de nata!

Really great seafood. The cod cake & fish of the day were delicious & the pasteis for dessert were spot on. Service was attentive & our server was very knowledgable. All in all, would highly recommend!
