Review Summary

Ferme Aux Vieux Chênes is described as a small, authentic sugar shack with a warm, old fashioned vibe and a welcoming, friendly staff. The dining experience is praised for tasty, hearty food, generous portions, and nostalgic flavors, from soupe aux pois and quiche to ham that melts in the mouth and well seasoned potatoes, with desserts that can be worth the price and even takeout containers for leftovers. The atmosphere is intimate and family friendly, with a cozy ambiance and occasional songs that add charm, and reservations are recommended because space is limited. Some comments mention a slower pace between courses and the need for a bit more attention when supplies like bread, coffee, or condiments run low, but the service is generally described as amiable and the staff as accommodating. Overall, it is viewed as a memorable, authentic sugar shack experience that many would gladly return to with positive vibes and a sense of tradition.

Cozy little sugar shack. The quiche was the best I've ever had, & I loved the fresh baked bread. A lovely man greeted us & later played French folk songs. The food was delicious. Staff was friendly. You are seated at a table with other groups & the man introduces you to one another. It's a very friendly vibe. I've also never been to a sugar shack where they give you takeout containers. Very grateful that I was able to enjoy the quiche again, & I would definitely return to this one. Thank you for the experience.

First time at a sugar shack. The food was delicious & very plentiful. We were the only non-french speakers at our table & both the staff local quebecoise were welcoming.
