Review Summary

Overall, customers describe Fay Wong as a long standing, family friendly spot with a warm ambiance and reliably flavorful Cantonese dishes; favorites include Cantonese chow mein and wonton soup, portions are often generous, and the service can be friendly and attentive, but experiences vary with occasional delays and miscommunications around pickup or delivery, some rude or inattentive staff, and takeout quality issues such as food arriving cold or inconsistent; despite these ups and downs, Fay Wong remains a dependable staple for many who have been visiting for years, praised for fresh flavors, a welcoming atmosphere and a menu that offers reliable comfort.

My first time eating at Fay Wong & I will definitely be back!

As soon as you walk into the restuarant, there's a delicious aroma that welcomes you. We were greeted by friendly staff. I had a lot of questions about what comes with the combo & the staff was knowledgeable.

My fiance told me to get a combo because it's a good deal. The meal comes with your choice of soup (wonton or sweet & sour), plus eggroll or spring roll. It also comes with vegetables & rice. For an extra $1, you can change the white rice to noodles & I believe fried rice.

I had the shrimp combo & changed the rice for noodles. The shrimp were cooked perfectly & they were large! I think there was about 8 shrimp. The noodles were mostly soft but there was some crispy noodles too-I love all types of noodles!

The wonton broth was flavorful & the eggroll was crispy!

I'm born & raised in Vancouver & this meal reminded me of the Chinese food I loved in Vancouver. I've been living in Ottawa for 11 years & never had a decent Chinese food meal. I'm moving to Montreal soon & for sure will be coming to Fay Wong for Chinese food!

I walked in with a party of three & the environment seemed nice at first, but we were completely ignored for about 30 minutes before anyone came to take our order-no water, no check-in, nothing. Other tables that arrived after us were served right away.

When the food finally came (sweet & sour pork chop, pineapple chicken, chow mein, beef fried rice, & spring rolls), most of it was okay the spring rolls are the best. but the chow mein was both raw & burnt at the same time. We sent it back, but even the replacement wasn't much better. Service stayed poor throughout the meal-we were basically ignored the whole time.

This is a small Neighborhood Chinese restaurant. So I didn't expect anything extraordinary. Just adequate "Chinese/Canadian" food. The food was mostly adequate & prepared within the advertised time frame. The Cashew chicken was in the style to be expected with this type of establishment but I have to say, the chicken morsels did not taste fresh. The spring rolls, the noodles, the beef were all fine.. but that chicken was definitely not fresh.

Where do I begin? At a time where a lot of establishments seem no longer concerned about first impressions, service or quality of their dishes, this was a refreshing experience from start to finish. The moment we walked in were immediately greeted by the most warm & welcoming host, & were promptly seated. Our server was rather shy, but quickly adapted to her role, was efficient & carefully double checked that our order was correctly taken. The food arrived quickly & was succulent & crispy in all the right places. We had hot & sour soup, dumplings with peanut butter sauce, both egg & spring rolls, honey garlic ribs, salt & pepper wings, shrimp in lobster sauce, general tao chicken with steamed rice. Everything was super delicious, so full of flavor (my tastebuds were delighted), especially noted, not a high salt content like some other places. Portions were generous, it served 3 of us quite well. We left stuffed & happy. Definitely anticipating my next visit. Btw I also ordered a take-away meal. Great job Fay Wong!

We traveled to montreal & our hotel was close to China town so we decided to get Chinese for dinner. Well after reading reviews we thought maybe giving this one a shot. It was a 25 min taxi drive & let me tell you, it was WORTH IT. Absolutely fantastic. Best Chinese food hands down. The Wonton soup is amazing. The chicken wings are just crazy good. & the egg rolls & spring rolls are so good we had to order more togo! If you are looking for a great Chinese restaurant, look no further.

I ordered in. The spring roll had so much oil that using a ton of paper napkins still didn't take it all out. The cashew chicken had a measly 5 mini bite size pieces of chicken. The sauteed eggplant reeked of oil & sauce. Not a good experience for sure.
