A small family owned restaurants can be either a hit or miss. This one is a definite hit.
Because they close early, 7:30 weekdays & 8:00 weekends, we decided to go early so we would have time to discover the menu & eat slowly. We've only had Philipino food once before & we were not crazy about some of it, so we decided to try again but at a new place.
Opened about a year ago, Fernando the owner & chef, has a limited menu that contains all the Philipino favorites. With his wife helping to cook & his son serving, this small restaurant gives the feeling of home cooking with friends & family.
We started with the Siomai. Yes, that also a Chinese dim sum dish. The order contained 6 pieces with a homemade chili sauce & a soy sauce with green onions. Delicious!
I ordered, as my main, from the Combo side of the menu, the 2 pieces of fried chicken. It was served with rice & a mango salad, & a simple dipping sauce. When ordering I asked the waiter if two pieces of chicken would be enough? He said that the portion was pretty big. Ok, I listened to him & didn't order more. Holy moly, I could barely finish. The pieces of juicy, crispy, non greasy, chicken were huge. & Amazing!
My dinner partner had the Pork Sisig, also served with rice & the famous egg on top. Though the portion is a bit smaller, the sunny side up egg helps to make the dish more filling. Really really good.
Even though we were pretty full we decided to take some of their desserts home for later. Great move. Warmed in the microwave for 30 seconds, the Ube square with coconut, was a sweet reminder of chinese mochi.
Will I go back? Absolutely 💯.
Amazing food, awesome service, feel like part of the family. Will be back!! oh, anyone missing BarB Barns? They have similar ribs here friday & saturday !
The restaurant is family run & the owners are very friendly. The menu is small but everything that we have tried so far has been flavorful. I would highly recommend if you have never tried Filipino food before. It offers a good introduction to it.
Stopped by with family & friends on a trip, & it has earned its spot as the best filipino food we've had in Montreal & even Quebec by far. The service was amazing as the staff was both kind & generous, with the food being as good as their warm hospitality. The restaurant is ran by a family which have been active at their location for around less than a year, & they deserve the most praise for their delectable dishes.
Thank you Cuisine Philippine Fernando for the upmost delicious experience, we wish only the best for your future in business.
