Nothing innovative ,no elevated quality in the dishes - just simple, home cooking that any amateur can do in his kitchen. We (there's 2 of us) spent $57 taxes & tip included with 2 classic dishes, fried belly pork & a pork blood stew with rice & pickles. The belly pork has crispy skin but the meat part is mostly fat & the stew my companion brought it home as a left-over. There ,he did a much needed make-over by adding some vinegar to kill the metallic gameness from the blood & only then did it taste the authentic delicious dinuguan it should be in the first place. If they slash their prices by about 25% perhaps I think the place can attract more crowd & increase their staying probability now there are so many (& counting) competitions in the vicinity offering same ethnic cuisine.
We had a great experience at Cuisine de Manille in Montreal!
We chose this place because of the good Google reviews, & it definitely lived up to them. We ordered the kamayan platter, & it was absolutely delicious - it really reminded me of a traditional'boodle fight' back in the Philippines.
The platter included garlic fried rice, chicken BBQ, pork BBQ, calamari, ensaladang talong, & atchara - everything was flavorful & well-prepared. The presentation was also beautifully done.
What made it even more special was the atmosphere. The walls are decorated with Filipino memorabilia & even a framed news clip from when they first opened (around 2004, I believe). It really gives you that feeling of home.
We left feeling so full & happy. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, & it's one of the places I recommend to anyone craving authentic Filipino food in Montreal.
We ordered food for delivery good for three person & tried the calamari, pork lechon, lumpia, fried chicken, & ensaladang talong.
Unfortunately, the calamari was very disappointing. It looked like leftovers-just a very small squid, poorly coated & not properly fried. We took one bite & had to throw it away. If this had been served while dining in, we would have returned it. It also did not match how it appeared on the menu.
The pork lechon was also unpleasant. The smell of the meat suggested it may have come from an uncastrated boar, which gave it a strong, off-putting odor.
The lumpia was acceptable, & my husband was able to eat it along with the fried chicken.
However, I personally did not enjoy the chicken due to its smell, which seemed like it may have been cooked in old oil.
The only dish I truly enjoyed was the ensaladang talong, along with the rice.
Overall, this experience was disappointing, especially considering the variety of dishes we ordered.
Unfortunately, I did not like my meal at Cuisine de Manille today. I had the kare-kare, & it felt very one-note. The dish had no acidity, no spice - just an oily taste from the fried pork & the peanut sauce. However, I did enjoy the garlic rice & the boiled green beans, although they were nothing to write home about.
As for the price, the menu said around $16 for my dish, but I was charged $20 (excluding taxes & the $1 extra for garlic rice). I think the menu prices should be updated to reflect that.
They served us cold rice! They have a shortage of napkins to clean your mouth so better bring your own. Boodle fight is mediocre at best & overpriced for what you get. Will never go back.
1st time : I had the 3 salads & garlic fried rice. They were all delicious. The staff are so sweet & the space is chill with good music selections
2nd time: I had the veggie lumpia Shanghai & they were great
3rd time: I usually eat vegan but I made an exception & ordered the calamari. The batter was light & flavourful & the calamari seemed to be good quality. Was defs worth the exception
📍Kamayan
Delicious & fun! A generous spread of meats, seafood, & rice, it's perfect for sharing. We picked BBQ pork & chicken legs. The garlic rice was a bit dry, & I wish there was hot sauce for extra kick.
📍Halo-Halo
Cool & refreshing with just the right sweetness. Loved the ube & leche flan!!!
📍Honey Melon Juice
You can really taste the fresh melon! Light, fresh, & super refreshing. Great match with the meal.
However $12 per drink is a bit overpriced.
Cuisine de Manille is a solid spot for legit Filipino food! We had the kamayan feast, & it was hands down the best way to enjoy everything they offer. Grilled meats, seafood, veggies, & rice, all laid out on banana leaves for the ultimate feast. The flavors were on point, & eating with our hands made it even more fun! The staff is super friendly, & the vibe is relaxed. If you're visiting, definitely go for the kamayan experience-it's a must-try!
I had a great dining experience at Cuisine De Manille! The food was absolutely delicious, & every dish was flavorful. I especially enjoyed the chicken & garlic fried rice, which had a rich & satisfying taste. The caldereta was incredibly tender & packed with flavor. But the highlight for me was the leche flan-it was so creamy & indulgent, clearly made with quality ingredients. The maís con yelo was also refreshing & delicious.
The only downside was that the service was a bit slow, & we had to wait longer than expected. However, the staff was very friendly & accommodating, making the experience worth it. One small improvement I'd suggest is the gravy for the chicken-it tasted too buttery & lacked the classic gravy flavor I was expecting.
Overall, the food was amazing, the place was clean, & the atmosphere was pleasant. Despite the wait, I'd definitely come back for the quality of their dishes. Highly recommended!
Cuisine de Manille never disappoints! I always go for the Kamayan feast, & it's absolutely delicious & huge. From the crispy fried calamari to the flavorful BBQ pork & chicken, every dish is paired with its own sauce & sides like pickled veggies that add a nice touch. They recently changed the eggplant boat in the feast to a mashed eggplant with tomato. While it's still tasty, I personally prefer the previous version. For dessert, I always treat myself to a halo-halo. The creamy richness of the leche cake combined with the refreshing shaved ice is the perfect ending to the meal. I've tried a few other dishes, but they didn't quite suit my palate-just personal preference! Overall, the food is amazing, & the staff are super friendly. One thing to note: there's a $1 extra charge for garlic fried rice, so keep that in mind. Highly recommend giving this place a try!
Ordered the custom specialty platter for 2 for delivery through Uber Eats. We were so shocked at the size of the platter when we arrived. I don't eat Filipino food often, so I do not have much to compare with. My favorites were the lumpia (egg rolls), calamari, & the garlic rice. Least favorite was the egg plant as I did not like the tomato salsa stuffing. The delivery took about 40 minutes which affected the meat. The lechon especially was cold by delivery which made it really tough to chew. The chicken was alright, but would've preferred chicken skewers instead (only pork skewers are an option). Overall it was enjoyable & is a good deal meal split between 2 people. I'll have to eat in next time so I can try the food hot & fresh.
We ordered three dishes. Overall, the food was decent, & the prices were reasonable for what we received. However, the service follows a takeaway/food court motif, so tipping is entirely up to your discretion. If you want fried rice, be aware there may be a price difference that isn't clearly communicated. The pork soup was too sour for our taste; adding water didn't help balance the flavor, as it seemed they added lemon juice before serving. The skewers were tasty, but the adobo was unremarkable, possibly because our expectations were too high.😓
Pretty good fried chicken & rice. Also enjoy the atchara on the side. Way better than KFC.
Their fried chicken & the Dado spicy chicken are both excellent. Very juicy inside & crispy on the outside. The skin on Lechon Kawali pork belly was a little tough to eat, but I think that was due to it being deliverd at quite a distance. I am sure it's delicious if you eat it right away. Garlic rice is also very good, as was the Ensaladang Talong. Overall vey pleased with this restaurant
Amazing amazing food. It's just yum. There's little extra honey garlic on the chicken but with the veggie salad , calamari fries , rice & everything this was the perfect office lunch I could taste. Thanks to the staff & the delivery person for having it delivered flawlessly TODAY. Keep up the taste & the good work
Nice place to eat - standard filipino fare for MTL, with the ordinary rice + meat or stew + some salad. Bopis (lung) I had once, & enjoyed (8/10), & the other dishes are fine - dinuguaan (6/10) & adobo (7/10). Everything is presented well & the atmosphere may be one of my favorites for restaurants in this area
Food was really delicious. I ordered lechon kawali & dinuguan, it was really tasty. The garlic rice complete the dish & would probably go back to try other options. Service was excellent!
Food is really good I recommend fried chicken , 1 garlic rice & Kare Kare for 2 or 3 ppl. More than enough food at a very good price.
