Review Summary

Cococina has established itself as a vibrant hotspot in the Old Port of Montreal, widely praised for its stunning, Instagram-worthy interior design and a sophisticated supper club atmosphere defined by music and moody lighting. Many guests highlight the food as exceptional, noting flavorful, high-quality dishes that blend Moroccan and Mediterranean influences, with standout items like the roasted cauliflower and lamb. While the service is frequently described as attentive, professional, and welcoming, some experiences were impacted by inconsistencies, such as feeling rushed during peak hours or occasional lapses in coordination. Overall, the majority of patrons consider it a must-visit destination for a memorable evening, though some suggest that improvements regarding reservation logistics and menu transparency would further enhance the dining experience.

My wife & I came to Cococina for her birthday dinner, & it was a fantastic experience. The food was incredible, & the service matched it.

For starters, we got the grilled octopus. It had a great charcoal flavor-my wife thought it was a little salty, but I like salt myself, so it hit the mark perfectly for me. We also got the roasted cauliflower, which is an absolute must order. It sounds simple, but whatever sauce they put on it takes it to another level. Finally, we tried the seafood pastilla. It's a solid concept but felt like it was missing a little punch, maybe a bit of Moroccan spice or spicy sauce, I dipped it in the cauliflower sauce to help it, It totally elevates it, so I highly recommend ordering those two together.

For our main, we went with the rib steak. It was absolutely amazing grilled to a perfect medium-rare, & the butter on top added a really great extra layer of flavor.
The cocktails were solid too, especially the spicy margarita & the passion martini my wife had.

I also want to give a huge shoutout to our waitress, Andrea. She mentioned it was her first day, & she absolutely crushed it. If she wasn't sure about something, she had no problem asking a colleague to make sure we were taken care of. The staff even saved us from ordering a platter that would have been way too much food for two people. You can tell they actually care about your experience & aren't just trying to upsell you.
The rest of the team was great too, & the guy who greets you at the door takes awesome photos!

Thanks to the whole team for a great night. You made my wife happy
Happy wife, happy life!

Cococina was honestly one of the worst dining experiences I've had in Montreal.

The food tasted completely pre-cooked & simply reheated. The patatas bravas were basically inedible: dry, hard, & flavorless. Food quality was extremely disappointing. The $22 cocktails tasted like $1 drinks - badly made, unbalanced, & not worth the price at all.

The open kitchen filled the entire place with a strong cooking smell after only 30 minutes, to the point where our clothes smelled like food when we left. Personally, I also found the atmosphere cold & uncomfortable, more like sitting in a church than in a restaurant.

& I say this as someone who goes out often to some of the best restaurants in Montreal & doesn't mind spending money for quality. I almost never leave bad reviews, but this place absolutely does not deserve its prices or hype.

I had an amazing experience at Cococina. The food was absolutely delicious-fresh, full of flavor, & beautifully presented. Every dish we tried was on point, & you can really tell they take pride in what they serve.

What really stood out, though, was the service. Nelson was super great-friendly, attentive, & made us feel welcome right away. He went above & beyond to make sure everything was perfect, & it honestly made the whole experience even better.

I'll definitely be coming back & recommending Cococina to others. Highly worth it!

We celebrated my best friend's birthday at Cococina & it was such a great night! The food was delicious!! especially the tajine boulettes, so flavorful & comforting. The calamars were fresh & crispy, & the pastilla was small but perfect as a starter.
The vibe was amazing, warm & lively perfect for a birthday dinner. & the dessert was phenomenal, definitely the highlight of the night!
Service had a small mix-up (my friend got the wrong order twice), but it wasn't a big deal & didn't ruin our experience. Overall, we had a beautiful evening & would definitely come back!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Cococina. The food was outstanding-beautifully presented, full of flavor, & clearly made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Every dish we tried exceeded our expectations. The cocktails were just as impressive: creative, perfectly balanced, & expertly crafted.
The atmosphere was warm, vibrant, & inviting, making it the perfect place to relax & enjoy a special evening. But what truly made our night unforgettable was the exceptional service from Andrea. She was attentive, friendly, & professional, always making sure we had everything we needed with a genuine smile. Her attention to detail & kindness made us feel truly valued as guests.
We will definitely be coming back & highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience.

The vibe is def for 18-28 years old & club vibes they always have a dj playing experimental deep house & they have moody lightnight with very loud music (u can barelly hear each other) & waitresses serve u wearing a leather miniskirts (the service is amazing like toptier tho dont get me wrong)

For the food: i would say the only really good thing was the kefta even the kefta could use some more grilling to have a extra crunch cuz the rest is quiet soft in texture so the outside of the kefta with a lil more crunch would be nice but overal its a very good option the tomato sauce tasted like good quality. The shrimp with garlic is quiet boring just litterly what if says absolutley nothing special & the oil was just a lil too much… & the shrimp wasnt like marinated before hand wich makes u forced to dip it in the oil wich isnt that pleasent i prefer shrimp to already have flavor on its own & get the option to maybe dip it in oil & it was a lil overcooked. The pastilla chicken def has a twist to it cuz it countains alot of flower water (ma zhar) it was okay the chicken was pleasent no big chunks. The poutine was awful… the fries were so soggy of the creme sauce & the fries had their skin wich made it taste good but it was so soggy absolutley digusting & lets not forget the steak that was drizzled in butter that was on top of the soggy fries > soggy fries with steak butter that was dripping over it > super soggy🤣 the lobster was okey but the poutine sauce was also VERY SALTY we drank so much water to get rid of the saltyness.

The interior is super impressive tho im impressed by how it came alive i can imagine how hard it was to get it togheter & come to life. I do believe the chairs dont really go with the interior it needs something as impressive as the beautifull space. The tables are also quiet small so when all the glasses are on the table & plated it gets very overstimulating cuz the tables are simply too small.
