Our waitress Andrea gave us good recommendations & she would constantly check on us to see if we needed anything & the manager was sweet & funny! For me who is particularly picky, the vibe was 10/10 with the dj that really stood out starting at 10pm, the whole place was a completely different vibe which we all adored. Also, the food was sooo good especially the brie.
I had an amazing experience at Cococina. The food was absolutely delicious-fresh, full of flavor, & beautifully presented. Every dish we tried was on point, & you can really tell they take pride in what they serve.
What really stood out, though, was the service. Nelson was super great-friendly, attentive, & made us feel welcome right away. He went above & beyond to make sure everything was perfect, & it honestly made the whole experience even better.
I'll definitely be coming back & recommending Cococina to others. Highly worth it!
Terrible service! We had a confirmed reservation for a big groupe Saturday night. When we arrived we had to wait 45mins past our reservation time to be seated. When they did seat us the groupe before us was still leaving & the tables were not yet set up. The server came after 15 mins to see if we wanted any drinks & proposed to bring us water which took her another 15 mins to bring. Very disappointing so my boyfriend & I left. Super hyped but not worth it in my opinion.
I want there with my friend on a friday night & let me tell you that the vibe was eveything! The perfect pick me up after a long week, the dj & staff were insane. Highly recommand
Pleasantly surprised! This was absolutely delicious, everything we ordered was amazing. The staff was very friendly. Highly recommend ❤?
Super rude & unprofessional management …
On February 27th, I was contacted regarding a potential influencer collaboration. I was away that week & suggested following up the next week. When I did, I received a response via Instagram that your influencer budget was exhausted for the next five weeks, & I was advised to follow up after the 5 week period. Following that guidance, I reached out again in early April to inquire politely about any updates.
Instead of receiving a professional response, I was blocked from your Instagram account, despite my follow-up being standard practice in my industry. When I attempted to call to speak with someone else, the same manager answered & responded dismissively, saying,'do what you want.' This reaction was both immature & unprofessional, & it reflects poorly on your establishment.
As a result, I have left a one-star review on Google & have decided not to visit your restaurant. I had intended to bring a large group for a friend's birthday this weekend, but canceled due to the unprofessional behavior I experienced.
I hope you take this feedback seriously as an opportunity to improve staff professionalism & the management of influencer outreach. Being reached out to first, only to be blocked & dismissed, is an embarrassing misstep for a high-end restaurant.
UPDATE:
It seems like the same rude manager that I spoke with keeps popping up & acting as if he's different people.
First of all, you reached out to me 2 months after my initial outreach. At that point, I had already forgotten & moved on to other projects.
After ONE polite follow up message (5 weeks later, as you requested), I was blocked from your professional Instagram account.
I'm happy to share the screenshots here for the public, as you wish.
Thank you for your comprehension.
Good music & lighting.
Charged for coat check - weird nickel & dime approach to start the night.
Tables are too small, about the size of a large serving tray, & tightly packed.
Our server was likeable & attentive but she let us order a main intended for 4 people even though I asked her if it would be too much food for 2.
Food was a let down. Mediocre. Undercooked potatoes. Overcooked octopus. Priced like Michelin starred.
The front-of-house service here is a disaster. We showed up for our scheduled reservation only to be barked at to wait downstairs because the table wasn't ready. No apology, no hospitality, just a rude attitude. If management thinks this is how you treat guests who arrive on time, they need a serious reality check. The worst experience I've had in the city
Poor management & even worse service. We had a reservation, but the staff was rude & dismissive, forcing us to wait downstairs because they weren't prepared. For a city with such great hospitality, this place is a massive letdown. Avoid
I rarely leave one-star reviews, but the service here was unacceptable. Despite arriving on time, we were met with an impolite attitude & told to wait downstairs. A restaurant's job is to make guests feel welcome, but we felt like a nuisance from the moment we walked in. Definitely not the standard you expect in Montreal.
Incredibly disappointing experience. We arrived exactly on time for our reservation, only to be told impolitely that our table wasn't ready & that we had to go back downstairs to wait. There is a way to handle delays, but being rude to guests is not it. Easily the worst customer service I've experienced in Montreal. I won't be coming back
I went to Cococina on a Saturday night in February with friends… one of those girls nights where no one is in a rush & the plan is just to sit, share plates, take lots of photos & videos & let the conversation stretch as long as it wants.
It's a newer spot… opened in December… but it already feels like it fits perfectly in the old port.
The space pulled me in right away. Low lighting, warm tones, abstract silhouette lamps, these beautiful backlit murals… everything feels intentional. It kind of felt like we left Montréal for a few hours without actually getting on a flight.
There was a DJ playing in the background… enough to give the night some energy, but still soft enough that we could stay in our little bubble at the table. That balance is rare & they got it right.
We leaned into the shared plates… which honestly feels like the best way to do it here.
The roasted cauliflower was one of those dishes you keep reaching for without realizing… glazed in this Moroccan barbecue sauce with lemon confit. Smoky, tangy, a little sweet… everything just made sense together.
The scarpetta Cococina… braised lamb with basil oil & parmigiana… was rich in that comforting, slow-cooked way. The kind of dish where you pause for a second after a bite because it's actually that good.
We also tried the chips & dip with smoked salmon, caviar, & truffle crema… a little extra, a little fun. Definitely a'we're out, let's enjoy this' kind of plate.
The only thing that didn't fully land for me was the fried calamari. It was fine… just didn't have the same moment as the other dishes.
Overall, this felt like a place you go for the full experience… not just the food, but the feeling of being there. The lighting, the music, the pacing of the night.
I'd come back for another girl dinner with friends… or maybe a cute date.
On revient sûr.
