We were mainly here for the Korean fried chicken, they have a bunch of other delicious looking dishes as well. There is a decent selection of flavors for the fried chicken. They taste great & the portions are big, with a pint of Sapporo it's a nice meal.
Very cool place for Korean fried chicken :) reasonable price & quantity (See images for ref.) Fried chicken platters are around 22-28$ Service is on point. Batter is light & fluffy. The flavour comes mainly from the sauce. They have a good amount of flavour choices & along with the flavour choice you can also choose the "cut"; Boneless/Drumsticks/Wings I have had the "opportunity" (went 3 times this month :D) to try the: Nyeomtta: Very spicy (buldak spicy noodle like sauce) comes garnished with the actual noodle & topped with seaweed flakes. Bul galbi: The marinade probably most comon at most kbbq joints for the beef. (Sweet) comes with some veggies & rice cakes. Honey butter: I found it a tad too sweet but its honey so it is expected. Buttery taste was strong. Perfect if you are sharing with someone that ordered the Nyeomtta. Truffle: Very aromatic & strong truffle taste. This one had no sauce but is submerged in Parmesan. Pleasant surprise Comes with unlimited pickled radish too but last time I went (yesterday) there seemed to be an issue with the daikon prep so the waitress went & got us a bunch of take out radish. Super cool of her 🫰🏻 Dining room decorations were very cool. Nice ambience. Two floor layout with a basement kitchen making the dumb waiter usage a very cool system. All in all recommended if you are looking for great korean fried chicken with very reasonable price. For someone who eats a lot (I think) one order was more than enough. Good enough for two people with less appetite 🙂 Will go back without a doubt.

A Korean experience to be messed with ! Fried chicken bathed in signature sauces & spices, complemented with truffle & parmesan fries & some spicy salad, mouthwatering & filling. Very friendly staff, & the portions are huge making it a very price convenient visit. Must try !
The food is amazing here! Fried chicken is juicy & crispy & the fishcake soup was delicious. Just note that the tables are very small (especially emphasized when there's a whole gas stove on it) so you feel cramped in it. The service wasn't very attentive, you always have to call a waiter to receive service & they never come check on you. Same thing for the host, we waited 10 mins at the entrance while having a reservation & we had to call for his attention for him to come greet us
We had the Bul Galbi fried chicken it was so delicious & the sauce is amazing! The portions are generous , korean fried chicken is so crispy ! I had the baby powder it was okay ! I would try other flavors !
I dine in with my friends & we ordered tteokbokki, gamjatang, sweet potatoe fries, & fried chicken Angel Onion. The next morning, me & my friends ended up with HORRENDOUS food poisoning.... The food was delicious & it wasn't our first time dining there but it was our first food poisoning.

Check your garnishes if you order their soups/hotpot dishes. We found moldy garnish on a soup we ordered that I asked to be swapped out for a new one, yet now coming home I found myself with some mild food poisoning symptoms. Also our soup was missing ingredients as described on the menu, we ordered the pork bone soup with potatoes & there weren't any potatoes at all (the best part is arguably the potatoes) The chicken as ok, too much batter but it was perfectly cooked. Chicken was tender just like any good Korean fried chicken place. Slight disappointment, but maybe I ordered wrong & should have went with their higher volume/turnover dishes.
Ordered the bulgogi fried chicken from here several times. Recently it's noticeable that the meat is not fresh, I really like the way how they prepare fried chicken, hopefully they take more attention to the food safety.

A late review for one of my favorite fried chicken stores 🤩. Their portions are great, their fried chicken are fried super well that it stays crunchy! &, the saucing is generous. It's important to note that the different sauce & topping options are on the sweeter & saltier side personally. Their baby powder is also like a powdered sugar & parmesan mix if people are curious. That said, their options are very creative, there's fried chicken with tteokbokki or ramen with seaweed. There's also unlimited of radish pickles. It's important to note for spicy lovers that most of the spicy options aren't too spicy, more on the level of sweet & sour. There's not much non-alcoholic drink options as well compared to their alcohol selection, but they're still updating their menu, so hope this changes. But, definitely a great get together place with friends. Note that like, three plates might be enough for four people! One plate just for a person, well you're getting some nice leftovers to bring back.
Fried chicken was good but the rest was just okay. Service is good though. If you look for a place, which opens late, to have fried chicken, it could be one.
A great find in Montreal's downtown area. The portions are enormous for the price. The Ttoekbokki was delicious & spicy. The fried chicken was amazing, both dishes were well seasoned, the skin was crispy while the meat was still quite juicy. The ambiance was vibrant & well decorated with names on the wall.
Love this place! The fried chicken is so good. I highly recommend for you to try the cajun cream. Wouldn't order a lot if it's a first time the portions are so big!

Chimaek Gana in downtown Montreal delivers a friendly atmosphere & generous portions of Korean fried chicken. We were late to our reservation, but the staff accommodated us & held our table, setting a friendly tone for the evening. Our server expertly guided us through popular dishes, including the flavorful Truffle Boneless Fried Chicken & the Korean army stew. Diving into our chosen dishes, the Korean Army Stew emerged as a standout, its rich flavors elevated further when opting for ramen over rice. The addition of a portable gas stove maintained the stew's warmth throughout the meal, adding a pleasant dining experience. The Truffle Boneless Fried Chicken, though had great flavours, faced a slight setback with a thick batter, resulting in a drier texture. But dipping the chicken into the flavorsome stew, helped with the texture. Note to fellow diners: selecting the drumstick option might not be as dry. The ambiance, casual yet vibrant, welcomed a mix of locals & university students, creating a lively backdrop to our dining experience. The pricing structure was fair, offering value for money with portions that left us pleasantly satiated. In terms of service, it seemed like they were understaffed, which led to some delays in water refill etc. but a small drawback on an overall warm ambiance & the staff's accommodating nature. For those navigating transportation, finding parking can be challenging, so the metro is recommended. In conclusion, Chimaek Gana provides an enticing combination of friendly service, fair pricing, & flavorful dishes, making it a a good spot for Korean fried chicken enthusiasts in Montreal.
The portion sizes are great for the price although they didn't put enough powder on the chicken even though it's called "baby powder" which left half of the chicken plain. For the sauce of the Yangnyeom chicken it tasted like cinnamon which was disappointing. The gamjatang had way to much cabbage at this point just make an entire mountain of it. The meat wasn't tender enough so I don't recommend getting it. The atmosphere was great & loved how spacious it was. If you come here I recommend to get the baby powder fried chicken. It would be great if they made a plate with all of the different flavours so I know which one I would like to get next time.
Came with a friend for dinner on a Tuesday & the place was packed. They put us on a virtual waiting list that texted a few minutes before our turn. The wait was approximately 45 minutes which was absolutely bonkers for a Tuesday night. The service was cold but at least it was attentive. The waiting staff had no interest in smiling or exchanging pleasantries. We ordered the onion rings, sweet potato fries & one of the sauced fried chickens. The Onion rings were below average, akin to what you might get at a fast food restaurant. The sweet potato fries were good, but again nothing to rave about. The chicken was fried really well, but the sauce was waaay too sweet. I actually didn't like it. Maybe I would like it more with a different sauce, but I was off put by the one we had. Overall the experience was just ok. I'd be inclined to try it again but I'm not really up to waiting that long. There are great Korean fried chicken places around without needed to be subject to just a long line up.
Nice atmosphere & service. Waiters are attentive & helpful. The fried chicken is really good & is a good portion for its price. The sides such as fries are pretty basic but it's a good portion. The spicy soup is pretty spicy so beware. Definitely recommend going there. I would suggest reserving online if you plan to go. Also note that the tables are for two hours.
